Things I can't be bothered with and never have

Fake tan - never done it.
Fake eyelashes.
Thick foundation that you have to blend in at the neck and chest.
Any form of waxing especially fanny waxing.
Don't get me wrong, I like to look nice and get my hair done but honestly the state of some people now - they must spend hours/days on all that.

OP posts:
App13 · 28/01/2024 19:17

Used conditioner on my hair

Fake nails,

Or extentions

Oh look another woman bashing thread by another woman just because YOU do none of those things does not mean all women should not. This is at least the third post today I have read in a similar vein.

There is no mention at all of gender in the OP's posts, and it is you who are assuming that the OP is a woman. I have only skimmed the rest of the thread, but there doesn't seem to be all that much in the way of anyone else talking specifically about women either.

What makes you so sure the thread is about women?

I thought this would be a fun thread for people to say what things they have never been roped into. But sadly @Gettingbysomehow you have just started off with a first post that is really nasty to women who have fale nails.false eyelashes, fake tans, etc. (Whilst encouraging other posters to join in!)

No thanks.

Edited

Quite agree

Nasty.

MrsKwazi · 28/01/2024 19:28

I have never in my life had savings or investments.

WhimsicalMoth · 28/01/2024 19:31

Fake eyelashes
Spray tans
Eyebrow waxing, threading, anything else eyebrow-ey. I do it myself.
Any form of waxing
Going to the hairdressers
Extensions
Putting outfits together

WhimsicalMoth · 28/01/2024 19:32

Oh and fillers , botox, surgeries

I've nevr had a spray tan or false nails.

I've never bothered with;

  • going to see bands live
  • pub quiz nights
  • maintaining a stable healthy body weight.

The latter I'm doing something about now but the others still hold no interest for me

Ooh @FairyBreadQueen
I do think you are missing out on the live bands issue - and a pub quiz can be fun too.

I can take or leave beauty treatments whether it's other people doing them or myself . Mostly I wouldn't bother as I've other things I'd rather spend my money on - fun activities or eating out/holidays mainly .

Hooplahooping · 28/01/2024 20:10

Worrying about what other people think when I find something that makes me feel good about myself.

lying about Botox - always been honest when people have asked or just commented on my skin.

ironing.

twitter.

indoor swimming pools (awful. I will die on this hill)

cars for anything other than convenient transport. My ‘purple peril’ (12 year old maroon Yaris) confuses the heck out of all the range rover driving prep school mummy crowd.

Hollyhead · 28/01/2024 20:13

I’ve never cleaned the loo with bleach every day.

Twinklewonderkins · 28/01/2024 20:15

Oooh congratulations!! You are officially Not Like The Other Girls!!!!

CatamaranViper · 28/01/2024 20:21

Love my fake tan. I go for a spray tan once a month usually. No mess, no fuss, just pop in on the way home from work.

Love my false lashes. I do the under lash Falscara ones which is brilliant. Very natural looking and last a week so don't need to worry about mascara when they're on. Usually only put them on if I've got an event or something to attend though because it can't be great for my lashes.

Loved my acrylics. My nails are so soft and brittle that I've never been able to make them look nice. I'm allergic to them now though sadly.

Waxing is great, very low maintenance. Again I wax about once a month and I don't need any body hair maintenance in the meantime.

I love light foundation because my skin is really nice and the fake tan gives me enough of a glow that I don't really need more.

None of the above takes hours or causes me any problems. I enjoy my little pamper days so happy to spend time on these things.

Am I a 'state' then? What a shame.

caringcarer · 28/01/2024 20:24

Never wanted a brand new car.

RosePetals86 · 28/01/2024 20:25

Never had my make up professionally done before a night out just do my own! Never had false eyelashes done, however did used to wear the strip ones when younger!
Never made a reel or a tik tok I think I’d die cringing at myself.

Octomingo · 28/01/2024 20:27

I've done everything on the list.
I don't get on with eye lashes.
Used to get gel nails sometimes, but they wreck my nails.
Not organised enough to wax regularly. My body hair is v light and doesn't grow much anyway. Veet or razor for me.
Fake tan for a good 8 months of the year. Makes my varicose veins less noticeable.

I'd like to be totally natural, but I'd look old and rough. And I don't want to look old and rough. Not yet, anyway.

Dymaxion · 28/01/2024 20:49

Instagram. I am probably completely wrong here, but it just feels a bit 'showy offy' which as a child of the 70's was the highest form of sin, even if it was at your own 9th birthday party and yes I am still bitter Grin

Fake nails , not allowed in my job, neither is nail varnish, short and clean is the theme !

Fake tan, seen too many unfortunate 'Ross' jobs done to people I know, however if I ever get the chance of a sunny holiday, I might risk it before hand.

A brand new car, it would make me anxious, especially if I hadn't bought it outright, but I live in quite a rural area and often get hedged by bigger, newer cars and tractors . Mines got so many dings on it, I have become the car people avoid parking next to at the supermarket Wink

rainbowsparkle28 · 28/01/2024 20:52

Ironing. Very rarely and only if absolutely necessary😂

lucyloobyloo · 28/01/2024 20:55

Love fake tan - it looks gorgeous.

I use Flash serum on my eyelashes and they're now long.

I love Botox.

Dye my hair because grey hair makes me look older.

Go the gym and lift weights regularly.

I am 40 and in better shape than I have ever been. All of the above make me feel fabulous.

Dymaxion · 28/01/2024 21:01

Two more I just thought of that I used to do but no longer do.

  1. Continue reading books that I am not enjoying, I give them a good crack at the whip, but I no longer feel guilty dropping them off at the charity shop unfinished.
  2. Drinking or eating anything I don't really like because public opinion thinks I should, most cake, cupcake, cheesecake is not for me.

I do t do any of those either apart from waxing but I laser removed now . The new “ fake look “ is just ugly imo . I saw a girl today that looked like she had a broom on each eyelash and nails so big I can’t even understand how she cleaned her bottom 🙄😐

Gloryloroliesjo · 28/01/2024 21:42

Ironing
Deep cleaning …whatever that means
Instagram

i’ve just ordered the under lash ones after reading this - never got on with the over lash ones!

I want to go more regularly for spray tans - do you find it lasts? Which one do you use is it fast developing?

Woahtherehoney · 28/01/2024 22:09

Some proper ‘pick me’ energy on this thread - some women thinking they’re better than other women because they don’t ‘plaster’ themselves in make up. It’s very “I’m not like other women” 🙄

Mumaway · 28/01/2024 22:26

Foundation, acrylic nails. Haven't got the energy and life too busy for long nails
