Things I can't be bothered with and never have

Fake tan - never done it.
Fake eyelashes.
Thick foundation that you have to blend in at the neck and chest.
Any form of waxing especially fanny waxing.
Don't get me wrong, I like to look nice and get my hair done but honestly the state of some people now - they must spend hours/days on all that.

OP posts:

Well, isn't it fortunate that none of those things are compulsory. News flash...people like different things and if doing those things makes them feel good then Crack on.

Madamblueshoes · 28/01/2024 15:07

An amazon account

localnotail · 28/01/2024 15:12

I never tried - and never will - a threesome, fake eyelashes, class A drugs, going to any kind of protest, skimpy clothes plus heels on a night out, finding a "new daddy" for my kids, vote Tory. ))

The state of some people now!?

How rude are you!

Oh yes, false nails, tried it once, they grew out at the bottom in 2 weeks and looked awful.

Yes. That is how nails work. You go and have infills that cover the grown out part. It may not be for you, but talking about it like it's an unfathomable set up is ridiculous.

Spa days
Facials
Massages
Centre Parcs

AnnBerlin24 · 28/01/2024 15:51

You sound really sneery OP. It's personal choice how people present themselves.

GalileoHumpkins · 28/01/2024 16:00

Do you want some kind of award, a Blue Peter badge or just a pat on the back?

BitOutOfPractice · 28/01/2024 16:04

Oneofthesurvivors · 28/01/2024 14:21

I've never started a faux naive thread on mumsnet bashing other women.

This. God what chance do women stand when we are fighting among ourselves.

I really really hope you don’t go around thinking “the state of them” op because it’s possibly the worst look ever.

Iwannerbeyourslave · 28/01/2024 16:31

Ironing!

Otterock · 28/01/2024 17:32

I cba with ironing.

Gives me more time for my ‘high maintenance’ routines of getting my brows, lashes and waxing done though

ALongHardWinter · 28/01/2024 17:54

I've never:- Had a fake tan (couldn't be arsed with the mess).
Waxed any part of my body.
Had false eyelashes.

I have had false nails quite a few times though. I had my eyebrows threaded once,a couple of years ago. Maybe I'm just a wimp, but fucking hell,it hurt! Oh, and I NEVER iron anything!

the80sweregreat · 28/01/2024 17:58

Threading and waxing for those hard core people who like pain ! I'd Rather give birth again
I tolerate my top lip wax now and again as it's fairly quick and the lady I go to is very gentle , but I do grip the chair a lot and glad when it's over with. No pain no gain I suppose , but she tried threading on me see if I preferred it and I nearly shot out the chair. A man must have ' invented ' that procedure .

Andthereyougo · 28/01/2024 18:01

Never had a Facebook account. Cba.
never had fake tan.
Long, polished or decorated nails freak me out. Do you really scrub under your nails with a brush if you have these? Surely it’d damage them. But never had them so what would I know 🤷‍♀️

SweetBirdsong · 28/01/2024 18:04

I thought this would be a fun thread for people to say what things they have never been roped into. But sadly @Gettingbysomehow you have just started off with a first post that is really nasty to women who have fale nails.false eyelashes, fake tans, etc. (Whilst encouraging other posters to join in!)

No thanks.

Aroundthewaygirl · 28/01/2024 18:32

Posts like this make me feel uncomfortable. For the most part none of these things hurt anyone else so why make people seem lesser just because you don’t do them? I don’t do most of the stuff listed here but I don’t care that others do. Actually I admire women that do put time into things they like. If it makes them feel good who cares?

Precipice · 28/01/2024 18:38

Psychoticbreak · 28/01/2024 14:12

Oh look another woman bashing thread by another woman just because YOU do none of those things does not mean all women should not. This is at least the third post today I have read in a similar vein.

Just because YOU do these things, doesn't mean all women should. And yet every day we see on Mumsnet posts where women talk about how they remove normal body hair, how they wear make-up, how they get fake nails, how they do all sorts of beauty regiments. Why do you take women talking about not doing these things as an attack on women who do these things, but don't apply the same logic to women who talk about doing such things? Why don't you take them as attacking women who don't do these things, especially as they often portray them as the norm for women?

PriceMeByTheYard · 28/01/2024 18:43

I don't do nails or eyelashes or any of that stuff that requires financial input and time. Where I work they are all obsessed with their nails and eyebrows and talk about them all the time. It's so boring, but obviously makes them happy so I just keep quiet.

I've never been a member of a gym. Again, people at work are. Personally I find it difficult to find any topic of conversation more tedious than 'gym talk'. One person likes to demonstrate to us all how she does lunges and squats. Again, I say nothing as I am polite and realise these things are important to them.

(But it doesn't stop me thinking what I want to think about them. The twats.)

marshmallowfinder · 28/01/2024 18:47

Making up a flask. What a pain.
Faffing about with ear buds to listen to music. Nah.
Drinking coffee.

coxesorangepippin · 28/01/2024 18:48

Interior decoration
Fake nails
Sewing
Crafting 😱😱😱

Puffykins · 28/01/2024 18:53

Ironing
Smoking crack
Injecting heroin
False nails
Proust (yet.)

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 28/01/2024 19:12

@Aroundthewaygirl me too. You get these kind of posts all the time. The 'What things annoy you?' kind of threads, they all turn into the same mean spirited diatribe against unknown strangers doing no harm to anyone. It's miserable.

PossomPatrol · 28/01/2024 19:13

Yeh, this could have been quite a fun thread if the op hadn’t of sounded so goady.
It just turns into a “omg fake nails, fake eyelashes, gross, I don’t know how anyone possibly has them” snoozefest that we see most weeks.

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 28/01/2024 19:14

@Precipice the OP clearly was criticising the people who do what she listed as things she couldn't be bothered. Did you miss the 'the state of them' comment?
