Thread 12 - TalkLair: “I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.”

(Previous thread 11).

The days are gradually growing longer, but the worst of the winter weather is not yet behind us. In the TalkLair, we remain hunkered down keeping cosy and warm. The hearth is glowing, the walls covered in dubious artwork, books by non-approved authors line the shelves, rugs are down on the floors (and assorted pets curled up on them).

We just won’t mention the gnawed bones of our prey over there in the corner of the cave…

I love the photos btw.

MouseMinge · 26/01/2024 02:13

1 - beautiful catten, Kuc. Of course he owns the hotel. Staff can be so foolish at times.
2 - VB, Kasper is such a dirty birdy but oh my so lovely
3 - I have a Pusheen key ring
4 - Skittles is a total darling
5 - lovely photos, Kuc, especially the first one

There's a new cat upstairs who I might meet tomorrow which is already today. A younger rag doll, darker than Todd, who is called Gus. They are getting on. Huzzah!

I need to go to bed. Finally watching Judgement at Nuremberg has kept me up WAY past my bedtime.

P.s. for tea tonight I had five fishfingers. Get in! Yes, 5 is a lot but I couldn't have bread to make a fishfinger sarnie so it was only fair that I made up for that by having more fishfingers.

MouseMinge · 26/01/2024 02:15

I forgot the statues. Phwoar!

Here's my Skittles curled up on her favourite blanket.

What a little beauty she is!

MouseMinge · 26/01/2024 08:58

That thread is GREAT!

MouseMinge · 26/01/2024 22:32

Very late evening all. I have another catten photo for you all. Not mine. This is Gus who's my new upstair's neighbour.

Frankly that much cuteness should be illegal.

What a gorgeous cat!

SinnerBoy · 27/01/2024 05:21

Is Gus part fruit bat?

VictorianBigot · 27/01/2024 09:41

Gus is gorgeous! Is he a Birman? Ragdoll?

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 27/01/2024 09:54

Gus is ridiculously cute, what a fluff ball.

duc748 · 27/01/2024 16:14

Amazing cat pix!

DeanElderberry · 27/01/2024 16:25

Such cute cats, and obviously wise and sweet and co-operative, They wouldn't spit and hiss and scratch a kind considerate person who was giving them a worm pill, not they.

Gonners · 27/01/2024 21:26

I have an axe to grind about dogs. Why is it that if I'm out alone and greet a doggy friend by name, they hurl themselves at me, but if I'm out with MrG and do the same, they hurl themselves at him first ... even if they have never met him before?

This may have something to do with him being a toddler-magnet, I suppose.

MmePoppySeedDefage · 27/01/2024 21:35

Are any of your cats this bossy about the TV?

MouseMinge · 27/01/2024 21:46

Francis does sometimes sit in front of the television and stares at me, refusing to get down until I remove him. I'm pretty sure it's to mess with me.

I had a haircut yesterday. I went to a barbers near Snoops and it was probably one of, if not the best haircut I've ever had. I've gone from bob just below the chin, getting closer to my shoulders to pixie. Better than any hairdresser I've been too. It took somewhere between fifteen minutes and half an hour, I showed her a picture that I wanted the cut to be close to, she looked and she more or less recreated it. I'm so pleased with it! I went short because I've noticed a bit of thinning from the chemo and this is a better cut for thinner hair.

VictorianBigot · 27/01/2024 22:47

Hahahaha!

I put Kasper’s programmes on while I’m making dinner. By the time I come to sit down he’s usually lost interest so I turn it over. But sometimes he watches really intently and I don’t have the heart to turn it off, so have to sit watching mice and fish until he falls asleep. This was Xmas Day.

I love that Kasper has his own programmes! And mouse's upstairs neighbour cat is adorable.

MouseMinge · 27/01/2024 23:29

Oh sweet Kasper!

If I'm going out for any length of time I leave on Radio 4 because I don't want any of my cats getting ruined by trash TV. I'm only half joking.

Kucinghitam · 28/01/2024 00:07

Kasper has his own programmes! That is completely adorable.

I'd heard about a couple of scenes in Saltburn that put me off wanting to watch it but last night I was bored and there was nowt else so I thought I'll stick it on and give it a go. So glad I did, I loved this from start to finish, was totally invested in the story and 100% on the side of Oliver.

Britinme · 28/01/2024 11:01

We also watched Saltburn last night. I don't think I was as much on the side of Oliver as you were though Pike. Yes there was the nasty "scholarship boy" attitude to him from the arrogant and privileged golden youth, but there was also what his mother said about him and his lack of friends before he even got to Oxford and there was the detailed planning revealed at the end. Very clever movie.

Dotellhimpike · 28/01/2024 11:16

That's what I liked, such an unsympathetic protagonist but still not nearly as awful as the English upper classes.
