Actually, just realised Rochdale is more than two weeks away, so maybe the rule is not two weeks, but I am sure I read somewhere it was?

I fucking hate that man

Sorry for the swears, but I despise him. I also know someone who worked with him and she said he is a really nasty piece of work.

Rishi Sunak enters what could be the most challenging week of his premiership so far

- ONS figures on Thursday will show whether UK has slipped into a recession

- Inflation may slightly rise

- Double-by election on Thursday

- Lords' opposition to his Rwanda plan

And Jeremy Hunt is planning to axe the Covid Education catch up funding

Well this is interesting

UK’s Rwanda bill ‘incompatible with human rights obligations’ | Immigration and asylum | The Guardian

The UK government’s controversial Rwanda legislation that deems the African country as a safe place to deport people to is fundamentally incompatible with Britain’s human rights obligations and places it in breach of international law, according to a damning parliamentary report.
MPs and peers from the cross-party joint committee on human rights have delivered a critical analysis of the safety of Rwanda bill, which is progressing at speed through parliament.

“This isn’t just about the rights and wrongs of the Rwanda policy itself. By taking this approach, the bill risks untold damage to the UK’s reputation as a proponent of human rights internationally. “

Damming

That’ll close the polling gap with Labour 😂.

Was increase inflation again part of the small print in the halve inflation promise/pledge/priority?

For anyone whose attention was caught by infosys, Henry Reilly summed up recent contracts on James O’B’s show today at about 11.55.

Wonder where the massive bungs correction, war chest donations, have come from? And what for?

I may have mentioned this before but in my life I have lived in an interesting array of constituencies'. As well as Nad, George Galloway was once my MP. He was really really popular. And actually a good MP.

This does not mean he isn't a tool, mind.

IClaudine · 12/02/2024 16:54

Interesting piggy. I used to have a lot of time for Galloway. But he seems to have morphed into someone I now find really objectionable. Maybe it's me not him!

On a slightly light hearted note I offer the Pet Abduction Bill. Specifically clause 6a under which it will become a crime to induce a cat to leave its lawfully owner. Presumably written by someone who has never met a cat.

No, I think it's him.

@RafaistheKingofClay
Is that (bizarre and unreasonable) bill a private members bill? A Gov Bill?
Clearly written by someone who has never lived with a cat.

Jason118 · 12/02/2024 18:54

I think you'll find that cats aren't in fact pets so the law will not apply.

BestIsWest · 12/02/2024 18:59

I’ve just sent that to DD as she and her partner are in the process of being adopted by a pair of cats that have moved into their shed and keep staring hopefully through the window.
