bit woo- but have you ever met anyone you have felt scared of for no reason?

I'm fascinated by stories like this- when you meet someone and they don't necessarily do anything - more that you just feel scared- intuition etc

I'm nearly 50 and it's happened once very strongly (was justified I later came to find out) and once not as strongly - so it's not a regular occurrence, but stories like this really interest me

Many years ago, an astute woman reviewing Little Britain wrote that the underlying message was, “aren’t women disgusting”. The next time I watched it, I realised she’d hit the nail on the head.

I have three - two people, one place!

I started working for a large company that provided housing for people with mental health issues in my city.
Early 90's and I worked in a hostel for 15 residents. The rest of the staff were out with the residents, me and my (male) manager were the only ones in the building. We had a family carpet cleaning contractor, that serviced all the properties we had. They were visiting that day to clean all the communal carpets. As soon as I let him in the door, I felt something "off" about him. He gave me the immediate heebie jeebies. Anyway, I went off up to the first floor dining room and small kitchen, to make myself and my boss a brew.
This man came in, supposedly to start cleaning the dining room carpet. He looked over his shoulder as he entered the dining room, which did seem odd. He tried to engage me in conversation, saying he hadn't seen me before etc. I said no, I'd only started 6 months ago... He then suddenly started to draw me into lewd conversation, so I turned back to the kettle, feeling a bit "ugh". The next thing, he's blocking the doorway to the kitchen and telling me that his wife was ugly and boring (she was cleaning carpets in a different part of the building, she looked bloody downtrodden when they came in! And he was no sodding oil painting!)
I said that's not a very nice thing to say to people about your wife. The next minute, without going into too much detail, he had me cornered in the kitchen and attempted to sexually assault me. I finally managed to get out, as I started to shout at him to get off me. I went downstairs and my boss could immediately see that something wasn't right and asked if I needed a female to speak to. He rang for a senior manager to come and get me, from head office, which was next door. I was interviewed, the cleaners were asked to leave there and then. Turns out, I wasn't the only one he'd done this to. Some lone female workers in our other properties had been assaulted by him too. His contract was terminated and he was reported. I don't know what came of it, as although I'd been asked if I would go to court if required, I was never called.

I was once walking through my nearest little market town and the man coming towards me was oozing evil out of every pore. Absolute evil. Even from a distance, I started panicking. I couldn't do anything but pass him, as there was a metal guard rail next to the road and no escape. I felt I was compelled to keep my eye on him, it was the oddest feeling, because he terrified me so much. As I came to pass him, his eyes were nearly black, he had no expression at all and seemed to have no awareness of his surroundings or me to be fair. I had nightmares about him for a year following that.

Again, lastly, early 90's again, I turned down a road on the outskirts of our neighbouring city, thinking it would be a good shortcut to where I needed to be.
As I started to drive down, the hairs on the back of my neck went up and I realised I'd made an horrific mistake. But by that time, I was committed to continue, as the road had narrowed to a single lane and I had absolutely no room to manoeuvre. There were 50 to 60 foot stone walls surrounding me, covered in green (moss? slime?) and running with water. The road was littered with debris and rats were running wick. There was the tightest S bend in the middle, which I actually thought I was going to get stuck in. But it wasn't just all this. It felt like the road and its surroundings were malevolent. I was totally covered in goosebumps. I managed to get through to the other side, but had to pull over as I was shaking so much. It felt like I'd had a lucky escape, except I was alone! Not another person or another car around. Funnily enough, a few months later, I noticed as I passed, that the road had been gated off and pad locked. And it still is. Makes me prickle when I pass the end of that road still! As an aside, it turned out that the Yorkshire Ripper had attacked one of his victims on the grass at the top side of this road and left her for dead. She survived but was never the same again.

Oh and lastly, I met Jimmy So-vile in the late 80's. He was doing a fun run round the park, next to the residential home I worked at, at the time. My friend and I wheeled out a couple of the old lasses and went over to the wall to watch the run. So-vile hopped over the wall, put his arms round me and my friend and addressed the old ladies, saying "If it's alright with you, I'll come back when I've finished and us 5 can have a lovely bunk up". Of course, we all laughed it off at the time, as we thought he was joking! He always came off as weird, I've come across him a few times. But my jaw hit the floor when it all came out about him. Sick fuck.

Where is that road? It sounds familiar. Is it in a city beginning with the letter B?

Many 20 year old girls want to see the best in people and it helps explain a lot of things that are badly amiss in our present world. If some pervy bloke sticks a dress on and prattles out a sob story about desiring inclusion, it will be young women who fall over themselves to facilitate him. We world-weary crones know better.

That is so true, we do ❤

MoonWoman69 · 16/02/2024 08:12

@Panterus A mile from me as the crow flies. That man was utterly vile wasn't he? I think that he'a done it before, Lianne wasn't the first. He's where he belongs now thankfully.

Thank you. I think it was more the fact that the workers in the other houses hadn't come forward until they were questioned after my incident. I think I was the first to speak up.
Yes it's really strange how an area or particular place can give you that weird feeling isn't it? Haven't ever experienced it as strong as on that road though! ❤

SausageRoll5862 · 16/02/2024 15:50

I'm 100% positive that if there's something you feel horrible about someone and you have no idea why, it's something to do with past experiences.

Or, because our planets align with each other, like we are female on Earth but are male on another planet at the same time and our planets cross paths, we're passing ourselves as the planets pass so there might be something off about our other self. I don't know the scientific way of putting that but that's the basics!

I was at work today (I work in customer care, front of house)

It's been a slow day,so I was flitting between customers, pissing about with any kids that came in,keeping an eye on them if mum had to pop to the loo etc

As it came towards the end of my shift,a bloke walked in,sat down and ordered his food

He looked 100% normal, nothing odd about him at all but something about him made my skin turn inside out and my hair stand up on end-ive never felt such a feeling of horror, revolution and sickness in my life

Dare I say he gave me Jimmy Savile vibes-I wanted to gather up every man woman and child and get them away from him and fast

I got home and mentioned to dp about him-he suggested I message my friend about him to see if she knew him (she's lived here her whole life-i moved here about 9 years ago)

She did-he's a well known pedophile who moves to an area where he's not known, somehow grooms families and abuses the children, gets caught, does his time and comes out again-rinse and repeat

He's been known to attack young girls in parks and in the street (I'm told he's not done that in years as age has slowed him down)

Police are worse than normal-hes done his time for his crimes-they can't stop him (he's not meant to go to fast food restaurants, schools, swimming pools, parks etc (anywhere where kids gather) but that doesn't stop him-after all the police won't stop him)

Vile bastard

That's revolting and bang out of order that he's not monitored somehow... I know there aren't the resources, but there must be some way to keep these beasts away from places that kids gather... Just shows your vibes were bang on!

Yes! You're right! I didn't even know it had a nickname! Every day is a school day! Is there any local history to it? It was the weirdest, freakiest place ever I've ever encountered! ❤

sanferryanne · 18/02/2024 19:50

I used to go through there regularly from being a child as we had relatives living past there. I do know that the walls started to bulge outwards and they were declared unsafe. The walls were removed and the surrounding land level lowered back in the early 90s I think. The road is now much less frightening! It was a scary road to drive through as a kid, those huge black forbidding walls, streaming water after it rained. I haven't driven through for years!

sanferryanne · 18/02/2024 19:56

@MoonWoman69 I don't think the Yorkshire Ripper left a victim near there. He left a student that he murdered in a back alley just above the Manville pub - I think that was his only victim left in Bradford. In fact I have another woo story about that - a friend who lived two roads up from Garden Lane was walked home across playing fields by Peter Sutcliffe - he said it was getting a bit dark and she didn't want to be walking alone. She was 16 at the time. She said he was very quiet and polite, but she knew him vaguely because she lived nearby, which probably meant she was safe - too close to home.

He left ML at the top of that lane, as it was the traveller settlement at the other side, that heard her whimpering and thought it was a baby crying.
Yes it sounds like that's what saved your friend, but then I don't think it would have mattered to him. He could have killed her and who would have known who it was? It was definitely more likely about him not wanting to commit the crime so close to home! His house in Garden Lane looked bloody creepy too!

sanferryanne · 18/02/2024 20:23

@MoonWoman69 Oh yes ML survived, i remember now. Sutcliffe (and his brother) used to drink in a pub that we all drank in as underage teenagers, and had worked as a gravedigger in the graveyard next to my high school.

Too close for comfort eh?! ❤

@MoonWoman69 Very much so! We had the police round asking questions three times because my mum had a white Ford Cortina with a red vinyl roof, and at one point it was thought he had a car like that.

My dad bought a house in Leeds and was refurbishing it to sell on, the woman over the road was coming on strong and he wasn't interested! She reported him for being the ripper! Dark hair, beard... He was interviewed!!! ❤

sanferryanne · 18/02/2024 21:22

@MoonWoman69 It was such a disorganised, scattergun approach at the time. The three visits we had from the police, it hadn't been recorded that they'd already checked mum's car out. My skinny, fair, tall 17 year old boyfriend was regularly stopped walking home from my house in a fairly rural village. The atmosphere of fear meant that I never went out on my own at night.

I was 8 or 9 at the time, living in a Leeds suburb, but if I went to my friends 6 doors up, both our mums stood at the end of our drives, watching us. It became such an unknown series of crimes, nobody could predict who he would target next. I remember back then, the strange feeling that had settled over Leeds, I'm sure it was the same for Bradford, Manchester, Halifax and Huddersfield too. Like a blanket of fear and oppression. Even during the day. Mum once took me to Headingley KFC for my birthday tea, before we went to the pictures. We sat in the window, where apparently he'd sat watching for a victim. It wasn't long before he killed his last victim in Headingley ❤

Sharontheodopolodous · 19/02/2024 09:33

Not me but my friend

She's lived in the Midlands all her life and her boyfriend (now ex) was friends with a guy-hed pop round to see her boyfriend (he lived a few streets away)

They'd been mates for years

Anyway, this guy freaked her out-she hated him and refused to be left alone with him,she hated him in her house

This guy had never come on to her,was always polite, always friendly, very funny and charming etc-but she hated him

One day this guy came round, knocked on the door and asked if boyfriend was in-was told 'no,but he'll be back within the hour'

Nothing unusual in his body language or anything odd about him

Guy left, all good, came back about an hour later-laughing and joking over his coffee and finally left

Few months later both of them are hauled in to give a statement to the police about that day

Turns out the guy,Alun kyte (I may have the spelling wrong) had murdered a lady called Tracy (she was a sex worker who my friend sort of knew in a 'say hi if they saw each other in the street')

He'd done the murder, dumped the poor ladies body and headed straight round to my friends house

My friend who just happened to be home alone by sheer chance that day-she was a shift worker and it happened to be her day off

its only because she got such a bad feeling about him,she refused to allow him in until her ex was home

Alun Kyte had committed at least one other murder and is thought to have done many more,it can't be proved,as he was a long distance lorry driver and they've tried to link him but the evidence isn't there

I've watched documentaries on this guy and he looks normal-nothing at all to say how evil he was-i know people who knew him and they all say they where shocked at the time

@Vixibell if number two happened last year then you most likely live very close to me. Absolutely horrific.

Oh my goodness. Number 2 is horrifying. Is this in the UK??? It feels like that should have been a massive news story, yet I can’t recall reading about it
