The Alicante flight at LBAhas been diverted to Glasgow according to LBAa website, but I thought Glasgow flights are heading south?

It’s now descending
fingers crossed for them!

@HobnobsChoice

Re : " I wonder if they dumped fuel then?"

Possibly though there are/were a few types that couldn't dump.

If push came to shove on one of those and you couldn't delay to get below the published weight you'd land overweight (carefully) and get the aircraft inspected.

mauvish · 21/01/2024 23:11

Manch - Dublin has arrived in Shannon.

How do you get from Shannon to Dublin at this time of night?!

Next question: how do I get off Flight Radar so I can go to bed?Grin

Also struggling.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 21/01/2024 23:12

I don’t think you can get off flight radar. It’s one of those once you’re in, you’re in. One rule, no leaving flight radar. Like a cult 😁

Hairyfairy01 · 21/01/2024 23:12

Wrolow to Leeds seems to have given up and heading back?

jmx3 · 21/01/2024 23:12

I wonder how many of these pilots tonight have ended up at airports they’ve never been to, would that happen?

Train drivers can only go diversionary routes it they are “signed” for them and they have tracks to keep them right!

😂😂 Where on earth were you living, the airport is miles away from student land .

I would NOT like to be landing at Manchester tonight.

I live 'not a million miles' from Manchester Airport and the wind outside here is something else. Its the worst storm for wind we've had this winter here by far.

So if they are still managing to land at Manchester Airport, god knows what its like elsewhere.

It could be because the wind is blowing in a certain direct which means the runway at Manchester still is the best option, but WOW. I also see they've landed a few of the biggest planes that were supposed to land at London (They can only land planes of that size at a couple of airports in the UK - I think they can only land some of them at Manchester or Heathrow).

(We also used to go up to the Airport at 11pm in the 90s and sit watching the flights land up on the hill when you could just park up anywhere. We were obviously the cool kids at school... It was a 'thing'.)

There was no warning....

notimagain · 21/01/2024 23:13

If it hasn't been mentioned already it's worth being aware the Air Traffic Controllers on duty tonight will have earned every penny of their wages. They will have been having a tough night.

There was an Aer Lingus flight that took off about 5 minutes before they landed..

It’s heading to Amsterdam. Worse places to be!

I was thinking the same - I think we’re slightly nearer to the airport than you. The wind is howling, but I can still hear the planes going over, as we’re very near to the flight path!

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 21/01/2024 23:15

I was going to bed after the sharm-Glasgow flight landed in Manchester…

I now have three more flights that I must see where they end up before I attempt bed again

All together now: "You can check out any time you want but you can never leave ..." Wink

SurreyMumOfOne · 21/01/2024 23:15

For those struggling to switch off, if you weren't aware, there's an excellent twitter account which goes well with FR24

x.com/flightemergency?s=21&t=WHCVHBX9QTe3g6CufqQV6Q

They don't catch all emergency squawks, but they tweet about of a lot of them and post the reason if they find out.

JobMatch3000 · 21/01/2024 23:16

If you zoom in on Manchester airport, you can see some ground support vehicles trundling around.

QueenOfMOHO · 21/01/2024 23:16

Got fingers crossed for Krakow to Liverpool on its next approach. I've just seen it over my house.

Whatthetrolley · 21/01/2024 23:16

Some of the Luton flights seem to be having some problems too. If they come any further north I'll be able to wave as they pass over!

JellicleCat · 21/01/2024 23:17

Also now hooked on this!
Birmingham-Edinburgh looks like it's attempting a landing.

dyspraadhauwtaf63 · 21/01/2024 23:17

I am now gonna have to switch off FR ,it will be hard but has to be done!! Night everyone.X
