Wroclaw to Leeds going back to the continent. Brussels perhaps

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 21/01/2024 23:04

I wonder if the Tenerife-Edinburgh is southbound as well

wildernesssw · 21/01/2024 23:05

Lisbon-Gatwick has landed...

In the 90s as a student in Manchester we used to go to the airport as it was somewhere you could get a coffee at 5am after a night out.

😂😂 Where on earth were you living, the airport is miles away from student land .

DoodleMum12 · 21/01/2024 23:05

According to Leeds Bradford website the Wroclaw flight is going to Amsterdam??!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 21/01/2024 23:05

At least it looks like Ryanair's Manchester to Dublin is finally going to land

But in Shannon ...

@FishSpice glad to hear he’s safely on the ground. Fingers crossed for a decent sleep and safe repatriation.

Thank you. There was no info at all given to the passengers. I imagine the pilot and crew were too scared and worried to keep the passengers informed. My son didn’t know they were in Paris till they landed! He thinks they tried two uk and two France airports maybe but lost track!

Does the airline having staff at an airport come into it with a diversion?

I’m wondering if the Alicante-Leeds is going to try prestwick if so as Ryanair have base there.

seems bizarre when so many Glasgow and Edinburgh flights are diverting south

I was reading a post about prestwick and how runway 21 faces south west and directly into the gale force wind, making it easier to land. I think they lack staff though hence why a lot of flights are just bypassing it now but with Ryanair there’s a good chance they’ll go there

It's nice/preferable if it's safe to do so to go somewhere with your own staff or sub-contractors who are used to handling all the admin etc...

However on night's like tonight you might have to accept any airport and then try and sort out the support after you've landed..

musicalfrog · 21/01/2024 23:05

All new to me, how best to read the website please?

mauvish · 21/01/2024 23:06

Man -Dublin descending towards Shannon now

QueenOfThorns · 21/01/2024 23:06

Why is the Alicante flight heading to Scotland when Manchester seems perfectly fine to land?

RoséProsecco · 21/01/2024 23:06

I think the Tenerife - Edinburgh has failed to land & heading off down south.

HobnobsChoice · 21/01/2024 23:06

notimagain · 21/01/2024 22:53

I doubt anybody is dumping fuel tonight.

As a general point you only usually dump fuel if you need to get weight down quickly to below the aircraft's maximum permitted landing weight...and that's normally only a factor if you have a problem after take-off and need to land ASAP.

Thanks. I was on a flight once from MAN and within half an hour of take off we were told we had to return to Manchester as there was a mechanical issue on the wing but that it was all safe and we were returning to follow protocol. It was about an hour before we landed, we were longer going back than we had been going out. I wonder if they dumped fuel then? It was preferable to the time I was stuck on a plane on the runway at Kefalonia while we waiting for the lightning storm to end and the woman behind me was saying Hail Mary's and howling.

mauvish · 21/01/2024 23:07

Tenerife - Edinburgh also failed and is following the Fuerteventura plane

Yes as they have handling agents etc already contracted to help straight away. Being diverted to an airport you don't normally operate to will likely cause delays getting passengers off and things sorted (such as onward transport) as handling agents will look after their own first. Plus they'll probably charge the airlines a lot more.

One of us had a car. The rest of us had no idea what was happening.

Manchester can’t accept an unlimited number of diversions. There have been a few and eventually there is no space for more to park

SlinkMcSlink · 21/01/2024 23:08

Krakow to Liverpool just gone back up.

whatausername · 21/01/2024 23:08

CDG - EDI landed 1st attempt! Bravo!

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 21/01/2024 23:09

Birmingham is lining up for Edinburgh! Hope it manages first time.

treath · 21/01/2024 23:09

@Clearinguptheclutter

It was more the fact that the 737 can't dump fuel, possibly a misunderstanding re runway thing but then the sterile environment?

I stand by what I said.

Tinkerbyebye · 21/01/2024 23:10

The Alicante flight at LBAhas been diverted to Glasgow according to LBAa website, but I thought Glasgow flights are heading south?

QueenOfThorns · 21/01/2024 23:10

Next question: how do I get off Flight Radar so I can go to bed?Grin
