Mince, tatties and peas
Markies apple crumble and custard.

onlyhereforthefood · 18/01/2024 21:08

I had a fishfinger sandwich, on cheap white bread with loads of ketchup and it was glorious.

I made overnight oats for work. Didn't take lunch as I was an early shift.
Work was tough, I stayed on (nurse) so didn't come home until 5, cold, tired and hungry.
A huge bowl of warm porridge for my tea. Just beautiful!

Helloandgoodmorning2 · 18/01/2024 21:22

I have just come in from a pub quiz. It is snowing so I have had 2 cumpets with lashings of butter!

oooh nice! That is right up my street as honey on greek yoghurt is about the only sweet thing I eat.

I am not counting the sugar in alcohol. Just saying.

lol why would you? it's medicinal....

Definitely jammy iced buns/fingers. TBH they were not as good as I thought they would be but I had to eat 3 to make sure.

as any serious eater of baked goods knows... three is the minimum for quality control. the first is for getting used to the taste, the second to asses flavour and structure and the third to be sure the assessment was sound.

you are my hero for your commitment to the cause.

French Toast for dinner, sourdough cheese on toast for lunch and three triple chocolate chip giant muffins for breakfast.

It’s been one of those days.

you mean the best kind of day?

My lunch was meant to be cous cous salad left over from last night's tea.

I fucked it in the bin and, instead, had a massive glass of full sugar coke, salt and vinegar Hula Hoops, chilli heatwave Doritos, a Daim bar, a Yorkie bar and a mug full of pick and mix.

I'm home alone tonight so microwave chicken tikka masala it is. My favourite Grin

amazing! putting that pesky salad in its place. haven't had a yorkie in a while..... hmm....

I am in hospital and when DH asked if I wanted anything bringing in for some reason I had a craving for poppadoms and lime pickle. Really looking forward to them arriving later for a bit of a treat after visiting time has finished.

hope your hospital visit is nothing serious and you come out fully recovered. I cheekily order deliveroo/ubereats whenever I am admitted lol

Nothing yet (because tuna and GF pasta salad for breakfast/lunch at work doesn't count as a treat when there aren't any olives, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion and more olives sliced peppers including jalapeños), but DP will be home in about an hour and he'll probably come up with something good. I think it might be spicy prawns, rice and assorted veg, going by what's in the fridge.

Yesterday's was a homemade GF pizza - as commercial GF ones are even more crap than standard shop ones, I hadn't had pizza for years and this one actually tasted good, so that was a total treat.

glad you found a recipe that works well. tbh I find standard pizza base is also pretty crap when shop bought (although I am sure the GF ones are worse) . I have been making my own dough for a while now and I can't even remember the last time I ordered pizza!

Haven't seen said noodle thief thread but I'd likely agree with many posts, nothing worse than having your food stolen. I'd be absolutely fuming if someone stole my food at work. I get unreasonably upset when my 2 year old takes my cheese and crackers

it's hard when they are that cute. you kind of feel obliged to let them steal your food. but adults who steal other people's food should face a firing squad

A Maltesers chocolate bunny.

I always wondered what the etiquette was for eating bunnies? do you do the ears first?

I made a sponge with buttercream and raspberry jam and am about to have a slice with a cup of tea. Can't wait!

nothing like a freshly baked Victoria sponge.

fish finger sandwiches taste best on white bread. I tried it with wholemeal once, never to be repeated!

sorry to hear you had a tough day. I also work in the NHS and hate seeing my nursing colleagues worked to the bone, burning out.

a carb heavy warm meal is just the thing after a long day of being on your feet!

you have done really well losing 10 kgs! we are all allowed treats. having a cheeky few tasty things now and then will help you eat healthier in the long run. its nothing to feel guilty about. ♡

I’ve been out for the count with a horrible virus that started on Christmas Day but today I made myself mince and tatties as a one pot dish in the slow cooker and it was really nice. I’m hoping it works its magic and gets me on the mend. I feel bloody awful.
