I have just sat in bed, sun blazing in through the window and had a massive lemon and sultana Danish and latté. felt like a real luxury. what did you eat today that felt like a real treat?

Made a vat of instant pot Chili con Carne this morning and had a bowl with sliced avocado for lunch. Felt like a real treat on a cold day compared to a sandwich!

Natural yoghurt with fresh raspberries, strawberries and blueberries, topped with flaked almonds and chia seeds and a squeeze of honey

sounds lovely. recently I've taken to mixing greek yoghurt with orange zest, juice, honey, crushed saffron and rose syrup. then setting it in the fridge in bowls/martini glasses. I top with toasted flaked almonds/pistachios before eating... and it's amazing. give that a try if you want. you can get organic rose syrup with no additives.

I feel you. I just can't do cold food in winter. have to have three hot meals.

A just baked cheese baton from Sainsbury's this morning. Slathered in Lurpak. I knew I didn't have time for anything else till about 8pm tonight, and itbwas like heaven. Easily the thing I've most enjoyed this month.

it's amazing isn't it. how the context of a meal can change its value and taste so much.

is that a choc bar?

Its more biscut than chocolate, quite small, but lovely with a cuppa

TheChosenTwo · 18/01/2024 15:36

Kale and chicken salad with loads of olives and feta, spring onion, tomato, cucumber, some seeds sprinkled over the top and drizzled with hot honey, it was so tasty and I was really looking forward to it this morning 😂 really hit the spot tbh and felt like a treat because I took the time to look after myself and proritised eating something proper which I’m usually too lazy for. Today I had an exercise class booked and decided to prep properly so I didn’t just walk in and raid the fridge afterwards.
Tonight dc and I are getting a takeaway as dh is out and I’m really excited about my giant cheese pizza that will be delivered 😋

This is what I wish I’d had.

Actually had a flake.

@LindorDoubleChoc
sorry about your Mum. Would have been my Mum’s birthday tomorrow. There’s no one like your Mum.🪷

Haven't seen them for years - what's your source for them?

NachosAndCheese · 18/01/2024 15:40

Toast and crisps. I’ve got covid and feel like shit.

Sainsburys baby, quite cheap and cheerful and take the edge off the afternoon slump

NerdWhoEatsMedlar · 18/01/2024 15:40

I had fishfingers and curry for breakfast. It is freezing and DH has given everyone his cold. The curry even had leftover roast potatoes in it, I don't think we have ever had leftover roast potatoes before. Bloody cold.

TorroFerney · 18/01/2024 15:41

Couple of spoonfuls of peanut butter from the jar in the fridge, door kept open as I did it obviously!

mindworkingovertime · 18/01/2024 15:41

A wispa bar 😀

lemonjuicer · 18/01/2024 15:43

Pack of jam doughnuts

Justonedayatatime11 · 18/01/2024 15:45

A homemade mini egg cookie and then a caramel egg. Feel like absolute shite with the virus from hell that I've had since the end of November. Appetite comes and goes so trying to get the calories in when I actually fancy eating anything!

Chickydoo · 18/01/2024 15:45

Just had lunch
2 slices of hot toast covered in hummus. A handful of walnuts & a cereal bar (oats & honey). I didn't have breakfast.
Out this evening so no doubt will have something tasty with wine.

theDudesmummy · 18/01/2024 15:46

Walked past a place where people were eating brunch and saw some mushrooms on toast through the window. Went in and ordered it. Good call!

raspberryjamlady · 18/01/2024 15:46

A fabulous home made mince pie that was hiding in the freezer with some ice cream, yum.

StoneColdAlibi · 18/01/2024 15:47

I made overnight oats with biscoff and banana. It felt like having pudding for breakfast.

Later I'm having the beef stew I made yesterday with dumplings and a freshly baked sourdough loaf

evtheria · 18/01/2024 15:49

Not had it yet but making cashew chicken with broccoli and steamed rice for dinner later, I don't cook much Chinese food so it's a treat for me! Chocolate, on the other hand, is standard daily fare 🤣

LaPalmaLlama · 18/01/2024 15:49

Smashed avo with loads of salt and lime on sourdough with halloumi, crispy bacon and fried tomato. So good. I have it pretty much every day tbh because life’s too short, so not sure if I can count it as a treat.

CatalogueOnVinylFlooring · 18/01/2024 15:49

I am an absolute fiend for these jelly sweets in the local Spar called Myles the Meercat. Had a meeting I was dreading all day so treated myself to a bag.

ThreeRingCircus · 18/01/2024 15:51

Poached eggs on buttered granary toast. It was bloody delightful and so simple.
