I have just sat in bed, sun blazing in through the window and had a massive lemon and sultana Danish and latté. felt like a real luxury. what did you eat today that felt like a real treat?

McDonalds - 3 chicken nuggets and ~10 fries.

Seriously hope you are being sarcastic .

Cuppachuchu · 18/01/2024 15:54

A little Wispa bar with a cup of tea ☕

GTsundaydriver · 18/01/2024 15:56

Not overly exciting but I'm obsessed with ramen, so I made a really spicy bowl of ramen, from a packet because I'm lazy and it was delicious! Warmed me up, probably a bit too much because the spice level is crazy but I'm slightly addicted to them

CrocusSnowdrop · 18/01/2024 15:57

I had a mug of miso soup (the sachet kind with seaweed) with my sandwich for lunch and it brightened me up no end.

Smashed avo with loads of salt and lime on sourdough with halloumi, crispy bacon and fried tomato. So good. I have it pretty much every day tbh because life’s too short, so not sure if I can count it as a treat.

I agree life is too short to be denying ourselves the things we love. I do love avo toast. but I smash mine to a paste with finely chopped red chillies lime and salt. then top poached egg... yours I will give a try. sounds amazing

hmm...... was it your ramen? or did you 'borrow' it from a co worker only to replace it with a pot noodle.

check out the recent noodle thief thread....

A bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes just now, mid-afternoon, not breakfast. Not had them for years and normally I'd say they were far too sweet for my taste. But our son bought a packet the other day and I had some. Next opportunity I bought my own and I've been steadily working through them.

Maybe it's the sugar I crave in this energy-sapping cold weather! 😅

CatMadam · 18/01/2024 16:03

I blame pregnancy for this concoction- toast with jam and crunchy biscoff spread :D

Maddy70 · 18/01/2024 16:03

I stole a mars bar off my son while he was out. Not sorry

JellyfishandShells · 18/01/2024 16:03

A slice of pear tart this morning in a gallery cafe - something about the perspective makes it look small but it certainly wasn’t ! And very nice it was, too !

This is one of the best threads ever, love how stopping and enjoying simple pleasures like a delicious lunch can be so good for your mental health. Also giving me lots of treat ideas, especially the crystallised ginger and hot chocolate which is giving me Narnia vibes (I think in my mind crystallised ginger is merely a step away from Turkish delight).

I haven't had anything lovely yet today, but I will now be having Nigella's Fish Finger Bhorta for dinner, which fits this bill perfectly - it's easy, lots of tastes/textures on one plate to be savoured, feels very treaty to me but also contains plenty of healthy stuff so you feel good after eating it. I think it's a combo that many would be sceptical of, but you just have to trust the recipe and go for it.

mrsbyers · 18/01/2024 16:04

Seeded toast with the last of the lime curd my husband kindly made me recently when I was poorly

Definitely my ramen! Purchased from Sainsbury's myself and I'm off work today although we also have a food thief at work unfortunately, seems a common issue in many workplaces

mondaytosunday · 18/01/2024 16:08

Um just had a strawberry pop tart...

Alwaystired23 · 18/01/2024 16:08

A Manchester tart. It was lovely, but I've signed up to Joe Wicks, I need to shift some weight. I've eaten so healthy for the last 2 weeks. I craved today.

NicholJO · 18/01/2024 16:09

Had takeaway chicken kebab last night didn't enjoy it much as been stuffed up with the flu tonight I'm doing home made mac&cheese with garlic bread and after that have double chocolate chip muffin can't wait 😋

MrsSkylerWhite · 18/01/2024 16:09

Greggs tuna crunch baguette for lunch 😃

NahHumBrag · 18/01/2024 16:13

A lovely cup of Biscuit Tea with oat milk and a couple of Brazil nuts. My perfect mid afternoon pick me up.

caringcarer · 18/01/2024 16:14

I've got some Xmas chocolate that was in my stocking upstairs and I just rang DH who is up there working from home to bring it down for me when he comes down at 5.

LindorDoubleChoc · 18/01/2024 14:56

I have just opened a bag of Reese's peanut butter cup minis.

I rarely eat sweets or chocolates but I've given up smoking, I'm doing dry January and my Mum has recently passed away. Comfort eating I guess!

@LindorDoubleChoc im very sorry to hear about your mum xx

Dry January can done though! I don't drink a lot, but I'd sooner not drink in December than January!!

AND you've given up smoking (well done!!) but I wouldn't have picked this time to do it!!

crack on with your Reese's!!

look after yourself xx

My dh just came up to my office with a cuppa and a twirl

You picked a keeper there. I love a Twirl.

tigerbear · 18/01/2024 16:18

Bake in the oven crusty baguette, with butter, slices of mozzarella, and red onion jam.

HairyQueenofSnots · 18/01/2024 16:19

Some of the better smoked salmon from the local co-op which I had on toast with some eggs earlier.

Bloody lovely.

Seriously hope you are being sarcastic .

that's what I was thinking... my minimum number of nuggets is 8. and can't imagine counting fries....

speaking of nuggets... I've recently gotten into 'boneless wings' from a chain called wingstop. and the mango habanero one is ridiculously good. except you can't leave the house for the following 12 hours because of the 'side effects'

Tdcp · 18/01/2024 16:21

I'm currently counting calories but I'm giving myself break today and had a curly wurly with a wispa waiting in the wings for later 😁
