First grey hairs - when?

Myhubbyisasweetheart · 16/01/2024 21:32

I turn 38 this year and am happily surprised that I've never had a grey hair (it's brown).

My mum got her first grey hairs at 19.

What age did you get your first silver threads?

43ish but my sister was much younger

Nothankyou22 · 16/01/2024 21:33

I’m 34 and have the odd ones, premature greying can be vitamin deficiencies too

DustyLee123 · 16/01/2024 21:33

50

Early 40s. Am 47 now and only have a few, so far.

Blondehairgonewild · 16/01/2024 21:34

31 i think… I can’t quite remember lol

Menomeno · 16/01/2024 21:34

Late teens. I’m completely white in my 40s but it’s coloured.

Miloandfreddy · 16/01/2024 21:35

26, it coincided with the birth of my first very colicky cross baby. 41 now and need my roots down every 4 weeks as my hair is dark brown. I get jealous of my friends with blond hair who have dark roots, grey roots are just so ageing 😢

DrearyLane · 16/01/2024 21:37

37, third pregnancy. Five years later there are still only 5-10 on one bit of my hairline.

Cismyfatarse · 16/01/2024 21:37

55 and still none.

MuggleMe · 16/01/2024 21:37

Late teens, my 9yo has a couple.

bobomomo · 16/01/2024 21:39

50 and only got a handful

43ontherocksporfavor · 16/01/2024 21:40

About 30 I got one or two ( after first baby) then not really anymore until mid 40s. Still about 80% original colour at 52. DH is 51 and has about 4!! 🙄

Cluelessbutwilling · 16/01/2024 21:42

I'm 55 and still have no grey hairs at all.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 16/01/2024 21:42

36 and,at 45, I'm still hoping to cultivate an Anne Bancroft streak - sadly, it just seems to be going from the roots... 😔

campingmama · 16/01/2024 21:43

16... started dying it then an only saw in lockdown just how much there now was, now regret not going short then and owning it until it grew out

Raindancer101 · 16/01/2024 21:47

Mid 20s I had a couple appear then nothing more until I hit 30, at which point they started coming in fast. Now in my mid 30s I have a lot.

HidingFromDD · 16/01/2024 21:48

60 and still waiting. Red hair though which is now strawberry blonde

PawsandWhiskers · 16/01/2024 21:49

Much to my horror at the age of 15 - totally grey by 30, although covered by using many different shades of hair dye until I embraced it about 5 years ago.

Myhubbyisasweetheart · 16/01/2024 21:50

Wow, thanks guys. So much variation! I'm sure I'll be getting some soon, at which point I think I'll start exploring lighter shades of brown to dusty blonde 😄

I'm 38, and have noticed my first few in the past year. Luckily they're underneath my parting, so others wouldn't notice as yet.

chopinwaltz26 · 16/01/2024 21:59

I had a white hair at 15. Lots of stress.
I am now 65 and have a few, but if you saw me, you would not necessarily notice them.

CreateHope · 16/01/2024 22:01

18 - dyed it for decades and then embraced it during lockdown. My grey is a beautiful silver though - I get lots of compliments 😄

ALunchbox · 16/01/2024 22:10

Mid 30s.

Orchidflower1 · 16/01/2024 22:12

Early 40s but actually pure white rather than grey. Stuck out like a sore thumb against the rest of my hair!

mummabubs · 16/01/2024 22:12
  1. Friend helpfully pointed it out to me on the school bus 🤦🏻‍♀️ Now mid thirties and without my faithful box dye every 8 weeks I dread to think what I'd be rocking if I was totally au natural!
