What’s your genuine, heartfelt life advice?

Feeling a little melancholy and thinking about life and all the stuff that comes with it.

What advice do you try to live by?

I’m a big believer in looking at the intention in any act, and its advice my mother gave to me that has served me well. Often if some does something wrong but was genuinely well intentioned, it’s easier to see past their mistake.

One day you will be dead and none of it will matter.

Lizzieregina · 15/01/2024 20:44

Don’t sweat the small stuff.

My mother always told me that your health is your wealth, and it’s very true. Every day that you can get out of bed and manage your own life is a good day.

Also keep looking forward. If you’ve screwed something up in your life, you can’t go back and change it, so move forward and do better in the future.

Find out what makes your little heart sing, and do more of that.

You learn more from failure than success, so always try to fail better next time.

Notice the wonderful things around you, there's a little sparkle in every situation if you know where to look.

Be happy now, if you can't be happy until x, you're deferring the happiness you could be enjoying already.

Be brave.

EdithStourton · 15/01/2024 20:54

Be grateful for what you have, and live accordingly.

Stop caring about other people's opinions of you. It really doesn't matter what other people think.
I wish I'd known this in my teens and twenties/ thirties.

Just what I came to say. People aren't at home thinking about something weird you did or you said, they're not thinking about you at all. They're too busy worrying what someone is thinking of them!

Teasmaidavale · 15/01/2024 20:58

It’s obvious but my dad always said ‘if you are ever unsure in life..make an informed decision’ I.e do some research, find out, don’t just guess.

This has helped me so many times as I can jump in too soon sometimes.

Cincinnatus · 15/01/2024 20:59

Tomorrow starts today.

TheaBrandt · 15/01/2024 20:59

Every day is precious. Imagine if someone told you you had 3 months to live. I work with people who are and it’s changed how I view life.

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/01/2024 21:00

Life is mostly froth and bubble, two things stand like stone. Kindness in another's trouble, courage in your own.

Ropeonasoap · 15/01/2024 21:02

YOLO!

Yes, really.

Seriously, just do it. You'll be dead soon.

ZekeZeke · 15/01/2024 21:02

Comparison is the thief of joy

Errols · 15/01/2024 21:03

We're all going the same way.

ChaToilLeam · 15/01/2024 21:03

Don’t compare the inside of your life to another’s outside.

ExtremelyJoyous · 15/01/2024 21:04

What’s for you won’t go by you.

Don't save things for best.
Every day is best.

I could NOT agree more xx

DinaofCloud9 · 15/01/2024 21:06

In 100 years we will all be dead and none of this will matter.

AuntieMarys · 15/01/2024 21:07

Don't die before you're dead

Fizzadora · 15/01/2024 21:08

Something to do
Something or someone to love
Something to look forward to

Oh and don't expect anything from anyone else, that way you may, occasionally, be pleasantly surprised.

Somewhere deep in you, there is a place that is untouched and untroubled by the swirl of everything, beyond even your own personality - my genuine heartfelt advice is to do whatever it is that takes you to that place of silence and calm, for many it is meditation or yoga, maybe music or walking or mindfulness or being in nature. I think everyone can feel it, that radiant core that is almost wordless, or uncluttered by thoughts- tap into it! No one ever asks me for advice so I've never said that to anyone before but there it is Blush

Oh, that really resonates- thank you

“Don’t borrow grief from tomorrow” would be mine.

Love that

Never judge someone by what they say, but by what they do.
