Weird things your body does (not seen one of these threads for a while?)

Williaint · 15/01/2024 18:47

Just in the shower once again counting how many tiny TINY little red dots have newly appeared on my boobs and arms and made me remember some of the past MN threads about weird shit the body does for no reason, especially the things that Google says = death imminent.

the ones that sound concerning have all been checked out and explained as "body can do strange but harmless things".

As above - I get random pin prick red dots mainly on my boobs and upper arms. They are so teeny if I didn't look for them id prob never notice. They aren't cherry angiomas, just dots like I've been jabbed by a needle 🤔

When I wake up in the morning if I go to touch my eye bag area even just slightly, no actual touching, i hear a whooshing in my ear on the same side

I get very slight beaus lines on all my nails for no reason whatsoever

If I get VERY stressed I sometimes get a splinter haemorrhage, always on the same nail, same place

I occasionally get slight purpura in the exact same place on my thigh. Nothing like googling "tiny bruises on leg no injury" to put the shits up you!

Angel by Thierry Mugler literally smells like BO on me. Perfumes with similar notes are fine, just something in that reacts to my....oils???

I have one random very straight thick ginger pube that just grows forever and I have to trim it. (not just one pube, just one ginger one)

I once had a cyst on my forehead and when I finally squeezed it cut it out with a scalpel from Amazon a shard of glass came out 🥴 do not recall having an accident!!

Anyone else have anything a bit weird? Or am I not that weird and others get stuff like this?? 😃

I get the red dots too.
My DH has a weird body thing.. He can stand still but make his stomach move, you can't see it from the outside but you can hear the contents of his stomach whoosing around. It's really gross!

SausageAndEggSandwich · 15/01/2024 21:34

Sometimes the back of my neck tingles really intensely and I have to shiver and shake my head to get rid of it

Since I was a small child I very occasionally get a really intense chest pain on inhaling. It feels like a stitch but in a really really tiny area. I have to take slow shallow breaths until it eases. Recently I read something on Wikipedia and realised it described my mystery chest pain: Precordial catch syndrome

I can repeatedly make my finger joints on my right hand click loudly by kind of stretching and then bending my fingers. DH HATES it so I did try to stop doing it. When I hadn’t clicked my fingers for a week my whole hand started to swell up and got really stiff and painful.

Sometimes I can feel drops of cold water on my legs, even though I’m wearing trousers, indoors, other situations where water couldn’t possibly be dripping on my legs.

gonetogreece · 15/01/2024 21:35

Also if I'm stressed I sleep walk, a while back I woke up in the middle of the night in the front room (I had to go down a flight of stairs) pulling all the sofa cushions onto the floor.

Idreamofparis · 15/01/2024 21:35

Strong minty toothpaste makes the inside of my ears itch.

NotToYou · 15/01/2024 21:37

My ears itch (inside) if I eat something really sweet like buttercream

When I'm anxious I get muscle twitches all over my body

Wimbledonmum1985 · 15/01/2024 21:38

I get really odd random cuts on my arms and back. I feel like my skin must be paper thin. Last week I literally turned over in bed and my arm brushed against the sheet. I immediately felt like I had been cut and sure enough I had an inch long nasty red cut on my arm. Looked like I had harmed myself.

vipersnest1 · 15/01/2024 21:39

I had what I thought was a loose (head) hair on my shoulder. I pulled at it thinking it would come off - it was attached! Around four inches when I pulled it out, never grew back.
One of my shoulders comes partially out of joint and I have learnt to click it back in (otherwise it makes my arm hurt down to my elbow).
I've had palpitations for years, but have recently found out that I've got a bit of a problem with the way my heart beats - this is the one I know I need to get sorted out.

Williaint · 15/01/2024 21:42

Like a pp said I love these threads as it really helps calm me a bit if I'm having a bit of a health anxiety blip 😬 glad to hear there are other red dotted peeps out there!!

I get a few of these too! Exploding head syndrome- never knew there was a name for it! Also get javelin arse. And the feather hairs when I pluck my beauty spot wart thing on my chin

Lots of funny ones but also some that sound pretty difficult and crappy to deal with ❤️

Me too with the muscle twitches when anxious. Then I get anxious I have a neurological disorder. Then I get more muscles twitches. And on its goes in a vicious circle!

When I orgasm, so does my right foot.

LaBorde · 15/01/2024 21:49

My ears itch too (and the back of my throat), but only with clotted cream.

I had a shooting pain in my bum earlier and it’s a real medical thing to do with your pelvic floor. Googled it and blew my mind 🤣

“Just as spasms of neck muscles cause headaches, spasms of the pelvic muscles causes proctalgia. Proctalgia is pain due to a spasm of the pelvic floor muscles, the muscles of the anal sphincter, or the muscles of the rectum. This causes severe stabbing pain like a knife sticking into the rectum.”

known on here as javelin arse

LickYouLikeACrispPacket · 15/01/2024 21:49

Apparently @tobee there is a thing where endometriosis can occur in the nose and may be the cause of nosebleeds at the time of menstruation! I used to get it too

I have the tiny red dots on my arms too!

I also have a random single long white hair that grows out of my chest, it seems to just appear overnight. I always pluck it out and then months later it reappears 😳

I have this too and was only wondering upon waking this morning what the hell it was. Thanks for posting!

Notchangingnameagain · 15/01/2024 21:56

The feeling of the wind on my lips makes me heave.

godmum56 · 15/01/2024 21:56

I have Achenbach's syndrome. It causes harmless subcutaneous bleeds, like bruising in the fingers and toes and feels like a hot bee sting when it happens. Its often described as rare but i think its not as rare as all that but the symptoms come and go incredibly quickly and in a photo, it just looks like bruising so I guess people don't go to a doctor with it. It appears to be completely harmless, more common in women than in men and gets more frequent during perimenopause. I had to diagnose myself. The only time I managed to get to a doctor while I had one, he googled frantically and then announced proudly "Its a chilblain"

CitizenofGotham · 15/01/2024 21:57

Same as PP, my eyes also water when hearing/reading spooky things.

I sometimes get a hot/tingly feeling in my big toe that seems to simultaneously happen in my lady bits.

I can't really describe this well but I sometimes get this weird feeling in my hands like I'm squeezing or want to squeeze something softish but hollow. I only really know what it feels like when it's happening Hmm

I often get this pain in my chest between my boobs like someone is poking me really hard, only lasts a few seconds.

Blimey, this feels like a confessional Grin

Williaint · 15/01/2024 21:57

I also seem to be very susceptible to getting dog hairs stuck in my foot and hands 😩 like my skin is just particularly shit and flimsy and holey

yup you can get womb tissue growing just about anywhere in endo. My hygienist had it and she used to get the nosebleeds.

HalebiHabibti · 15/01/2024 22:01

Every few months, when I bend over, a stream of clear fluid will emerge from my nose. I will have had no sensation of a runny nose up until that point, and it won't happen again for ages. I think the fluid just builds up in a cavity in my head somewhere (ie a slow leak)! It is clear yellow fluid, about 2ml maybe.

Freaked my friends right out when I accidentally did it next to them on a walk once!

LickYouLikeACrispPacket · 15/01/2024 22:02

It’s a funny old thing the human body!

Waitingfor5pm · 15/01/2024 22:03

If I don't get 6.5 hours sleep, I will have a headache which is difficult to shift the next day.

If I go to bed very overtired, I will have these episodes in the night where I feel like I'm awake but paralysed and can't move from the bed, when I'm pretty sure I'm asleep. I always used to have nightmares when overtired too.
