Weird things your body does (not seen one of these threads for a while?)

Williaint · 15/01/2024 18:47

Just in the shower once again counting how many tiny TINY little red dots have newly appeared on my boobs and arms and made me remember some of the past MN threads about weird shit the body does for no reason, especially the things that Google says = death imminent.

the ones that sound concerning have all been checked out and explained as "body can do strange but harmless things".

As above - I get random pin prick red dots mainly on my boobs and upper arms. They are so teeny if I didn't look for them id prob never notice. They aren't cherry angiomas, just dots like I've been jabbed by a needle 🤔

When I wake up in the morning if I go to touch my eye bag area even just slightly, no actual touching, i hear a whooshing in my ear on the same side

I get very slight beaus lines on all my nails for no reason whatsoever

If I get VERY stressed I sometimes get a splinter haemorrhage, always on the same nail, same place

I occasionally get slight purpura in the exact same place on my thigh. Nothing like googling "tiny bruises on leg no injury" to put the shits up you!

Angel by Thierry Mugler literally smells like BO on me. Perfumes with similar notes are fine, just something in that reacts to my....oils???

I have one random very straight thick ginger pube that just grows forever and I have to trim it. (not just one pube, just one ginger one)

I once had a cyst on my forehead and when I finally squeezed it cut it out with a scalpel from Amazon a shard of glass came out 🥴 do not recall having an accident!!

Anyone else have anything a bit weird? Or am I not that weird and others get stuff like this?? 😃

Picking my duvet up and flapping it to even it out inside a duvet cover when I’m making my bed gives me an amazingly satisfying feeling like a massage in my bum!

I have always had thick psoriasis on the back of my head. I sometimes get relief from the itchiness by repeatedly pushing a pin (not very far at all) into the patch all over. There’s a part of my head where the pin goes really deep and doesn’t hurt at all as though there are no nerves there.

HalebiHabibti · 15/01/2024 22:05

Ooh, another one: if I close my mouth, pinch my nose and blow, air comes out of the corners of my eyes.

I think I have a very oddly shaped skull!

Depressedhusbandbringingmedown · 15/01/2024 22:07

If I have an itchy bum it makes a fluttering noise in my ear!

Also if I'm stressed I sleep walk, a while back I woke up in the middle of the night in the front room (I had to go down a flight of stairs) pulling all the sofa cushions onto the floor.

I do this when I’m really stressed too, I once woke up halfway down the street in the early hours of the morning. I haven’t done it for ages though.

MrsWidgerysLodger · 15/01/2024 22:09

When I'm tired my left eyebrow twitches. Only ever my left, only ever my eyebrow.

irishapple · 15/01/2024 22:10

I get palpitations if I have trapped wind/indigestion. First time it happened I had myself dead and buried but now it doesn't bother me.

If I poke my belly button I get a sharp pain in my vagina

I have endometriosis and this used to happen to me. The endometrial tissue had grown behind my tummy button.

Every few months, when I bend over, a stream of clear fluid will emerge from my nose. I will have had no sensation of a runny nose up until that point, and it won't happen again for ages. I think the fluid just builds up in a cavity in my head somewhere (ie a slow leak)! It is clear yellow fluid, about 2ml maybe.

Freaked my friends right out when I accidentally did it next to them on a walk once!

This happens to me! I have crazy sinus issues and always just assumed it was associated with that

SootysCaravan · 15/01/2024 22:10

I have a singular head hair which grows poker straight and sharp like a quill. it grows about 5 times as fast, is about 5 times as thick and is jet black. I can pluck it out but it grows back within days and not even my hairdresser can explain what causes it

CaramelMac · 15/01/2024 22:12

If I start to boil an egg I almost invariably need to run to the loo for a poo. I mentioned it to my mum once and she said when I was a toddler dippy eggs were my favourite food and I obviously still just get a rush of adrenaline at the thought of a boiled egg.

LauderSyme · 15/01/2024 22:13

Like many pp's I get the tiny red spots and the rogue thick/long hairs.

Like one pp I get goosebumps when I really need a poo.

And one that nobody has yet confided, I often get a sore throat when I'm washing up. It's happened in various people's kitchens and it's always the same kind of ache at the back of my throat and stops when the washing up is finished!

Goldiex · 15/01/2024 22:15

I get goosebumps (not when im cold) in a wavy line about 5cm thick, from my right ankle to my right bum cheek. Just on that wavy line though, either side of it and everywhere else is normal. They actually quite hurt when they come up. No reason i can see but has happened for years.

PollyOrange · 15/01/2024 22:16

@sciencemama I get this on one toe nail too ! Toe buddies 🤣

MillicentRogers · 15/01/2024 22:17

I only pee twice a day. Once when I wake up whatever the time is, early or late and then once more in the evening.

Over the years I have been checked out and have no infection, nothing wrong with my bladder or kidneys and for many years I only went once in the morning but since I've made an effort to drink more I now have one small pee of an evening. Pee is pale in colour and no odour.

I never feel like I need to go except for in the morning.

MrsFlibbleisverycross · 15/01/2024 22:17

I get a weird ear pain before I get ill. Normally my left but occasionally the right. Not like earache - it’s the outer ear. Like the cartilage part and is so sore, I can’t lie on that side and even my hair irritates it. Whenever it happens, I’m ill within a couple of days. As soon as the illness arrives, the ear pain goes.

Also, when I’m really desperate for a wee, all my teeth feel weird and wobbly.

MillicentRogers · 15/01/2024 22:20

Oh and I don't sweat. No I'm not Prince Andrew but I don't perspire in the U.K. and abroad I only get a slight perspiration on forehead and neck, nowhere else.

I also don't get bitten by mosquitos or biting insects. I have been stung a couple of times.

SomethingBlues · 15/01/2024 22:22

I know it’s time to stop drinking because my top lip and the end of my nose go numb. If I carry on past this point, I will have the vilest hangover in creation. If I stop when the numbness arrives, I can cruise at the merry point quite happily 😂

Always drink responsibly kids 😂 never ignore numbness in a body part!

SingingSands · 15/01/2024 22:27

I had two sets of baby teeth. The dentist showed me and my mum on an X-ray when I was a kid.

I had a very long relationship with the tooth fairy 😄

Gilead · 15/01/2024 22:34

I have no body hair whatsoever, but a very thick head of hair.
I can click all joints including elbows (thanks EDS)!

That's reminded me of one I've never known anyone else to get but I can see it being pretty common - ear cramp/pain as if you've been lying literally on a folded ear all night when you wake up anyone? It takes about 30 mins to 'relax' and is very painful! Only happens on the left ear. Pillow ear!!

It doesn't matter how far I'm running, I always want a poo at mile 5. Time of day/food eaten/number of poos already done for the day make no difference!

Also once when I was about 10 I had a sore spot on my forehead, my mum squeezed it for me because we thought it was a splinter. A tiny pebble fell out of my head and fell down the back of our windows 95 PC! We were so astonished. Years later a mole grew in that exact spot.

lemonyfox · 15/01/2024 19:22

The end of my tongue always splits very slightly just before I get a cold.

I get these weird white hairs on my boobs which are a bit like feathers when I pluck them out. Like multiple tiny hairs in one go come out. I'm not explaining it very well but they're not normal hairs!

I also get those little white feather hairs!

TootYourOwnHorn · 15/01/2024 22:36

@LittleGreenDuck I was recently told the ear whooshing thing isn't common, but judging by this thread I think that information was incorrect!

newrubylane · 15/01/2024 22:41

Using a cash point makes me need to pee. Happily less of an issue these days.

I also must be the only woman in history whose restless legs went away during pregnancy.

One particular eyelash on my right eye occasionally grows ridiculously. Like it just doesn't stop growing when the others do.

I'm sure there are loads more...

popapoppadum · 15/01/2024 22:42

I can drink lying down. DH thinks this is crazy and chokes if he tries, I've never asked anyone else.

I often find my big toe crossed over my second toe when I'm relaxed, it seems to be a comfort thing. Most of the time it happens subconsciously.
