Weird things your body does (not seen one of these threads for a while?)

Williaint · 15/01/2024 18:47

Just in the shower once again counting how many tiny TINY little red dots have newly appeared on my boobs and arms and made me remember some of the past MN threads about weird shit the body does for no reason, especially the things that Google says = death imminent.

the ones that sound concerning have all been checked out and explained as "body can do strange but harmless things".

As above - I get random pin prick red dots mainly on my boobs and upper arms. They are so teeny if I didn't look for them id prob never notice. They aren't cherry angiomas, just dots like I've been jabbed by a needle 🤔

When I wake up in the morning if I go to touch my eye bag area even just slightly, no actual touching, i hear a whooshing in my ear on the same side

I get very slight beaus lines on all my nails for no reason whatsoever

If I get VERY stressed I sometimes get a splinter haemorrhage, always on the same nail, same place

I occasionally get slight purpura in the exact same place on my thigh. Nothing like googling "tiny bruises on leg no injury" to put the shits up you!

Angel by Thierry Mugler literally smells like BO on me. Perfumes with similar notes are fine, just something in that reacts to my....oils???

I have one random very straight thick ginger pube that just grows forever and I have to trim it. (not just one pube, just one ginger one)

I once had a cyst on my forehead and when I finally squeezed it cut it out with a scalpel from Amazon a shard of glass came out 🥴 do not recall having an accident!!

Anyone else have anything a bit weird? Or am I not that weird and others get stuff like this?? 😃

When I lie down sometimes I get a feeling at the back on my skull that feels like the little polystyrene balls you get in a bean bag without static charge rattling around and settling inside a bone dry skull.

its not quite fizzy but kiiiind of….

TheCosyRain · 15/01/2024 21:07

@FloorWipes sounds like folliculitis on your legs

Aworldofmyown · 15/01/2024 21:08

I also have hairs growing from tear ducts and tiny red pinprick spots.
No leg reflexes either.
Two of my toes dislocate regularly.

Mufflepuff · 15/01/2024 21:09

I get exploding head syndrome when I'm stressed.

I have Raynauds and sometimes my feet look like a fresian cow as it happens in patches (but pink and white rather than black and white).

I have benign calf fasiculation syndrome so my calves have been twitching constantly since I was 12 years old.

When I'm anxious I get internal tremors so it feels like the bed is shaking.

Shopping in The Range makes me need to poo EVERY TIME. Doesn't happen in any other shops.

Some lights give me instant migraine-type dizziness. It seems to happen most in European countries with their flourescent and yellow lights. I can go into the room with one of these lights and instantly feel dizzy. Leave the room and I'm not dizzy any longer. Really really odd.

Aworldofmyown · 15/01/2024 21:11

Having just googled Achenbach syndrome and I have that!!! Never knew what it was, just randomly occurs every now and again.

violetcuriosity · 15/01/2024 21:13

Sometimes if a part of my body is really itchy I get a whooshing sound in my ears. If I really need a poo I get waves of goosebumps over my bum cheeks and backs of my legs. When I laugh hysterically I can't write my hands go weak 😂

I have one extra long eyebrow hair that pokes out and have to pluck out completely and also a very strange hair always appears out of a mole on my arm and I have to pluck that out too...

I have a weird little toenail that is too thick to cut with scissors or nail clippers but can file down to regular thickness but every 6 months or so it's like a layer falls off and another layer of nail is beneath...

Whenever I shower I get a red blotchy rash on my neck... it's not a reaction to any soap shower gel or shampoo and I don't rub it with a coarse brush, sponge or cloth either... just always appears.

Recently I have developed a strange darker patch of skin on my cheek the size of a pea, it does t bother me and nobody notices it as far as I know

I get the rash on my neck too! It's the same area every time, about the size of a playing card. It's like a pinprick rash but feels totally normal. Happens every single morning and then goes away after 20 mins or so. Weird!

FortunataTagnips · 15/01/2024 21:14

I also thought the jaw flexing/ear whooshing thing was normal.

If I sneeze hard, I sometimes get awful shooting pains up my arms and boobs.

LittleGreenDuck · 15/01/2024 21:17

TootYourOwnHorn · 15/01/2024 20:41

When I brush my teeth my nose streams.

My left leg has no reflexes.

I can make my ears "close off" and whoosh by tensing my jaw.

I used to get one wiry white hair grow out of my arm, all of a sudden it would be really long. Hasn't come back for years now.

The ear whooshing thing, I can do that too. Is it not normal?! Hmm

Blondehairgonewild · 15/01/2024 19:12

I had a shooting pain in my bum earlier and it’s a real medical thing to do with your pelvic floor. Googled it and blew my mind 🤣

“Just as spasms of neck muscles cause headaches, spasms of the pelvic muscles causes proctalgia. Proctalgia is pain due to a spasm of the pelvic floor muscles, the muscles of the anal sphincter, or the muscles of the rectum. This causes severe stabbing pain like a knife sticking into the rectum.”

I get this about twice a month, always at night. There was a thread about on here a couple of years ago and they called it javelin arse😆😆 just about sums it up

FloorWipes · 15/01/2024 21:20

I also have these weird orange yellow spots on my eyelids which from excessive googling I think are this condition which was first reported in 2008 - orange palpebral spots https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9886507/

Orange palpebral spots: a rare entity of unknown clinical significance

WTF1974 · 15/01/2024 21:20

When l vomiti, I get a sharp pain in the back of my right arm from armpit to elbow. Always the right arm and always in the same place. No explanation Hmm

Nomosapien · 15/01/2024 21:21

I’m 5ft 4 and during a scan I once got told my kidneys were a size that would typically be seen in a 6ft plus man.

I feel oddly proud about that.

TheCosyRain · 15/01/2024 21:21

My eyes water uncontrollably when I sing. It makes it look as though I’m getting emotional!

Deep bass music played really loudly makes my scalp tingle.

PeppaPigOinkOinkOink · 15/01/2024 21:22

I get an itch on a my scalp (always in the same place) if I eat raw onion

sandrapinchedmysandwich · 15/01/2024 21:23

I can tense a muscle in my ear to make a rumbling sound.

When I really need a poo my fingers tingle. This started in the last year or so

vipersnest1 · 15/01/2024 21:24

devildeepbluesea · 15/01/2024 19:27

I have a bunion on my left foot. It regularly goes into agonising pain, and I told the podiatrist that it feels like it’s dislocating. He told me that most people with bunions also have arthritis, which swells the gaps in the joint and therefore there’s less room for the bunion to move. I don’t have arthritis so the pain is, in fact, my bunion slightly dislocating. I just have to wait for it to slide back into place, without putting any weight on my toes.

When I’m run down or anxious my eyelids quiver.

When I sleep I do so with my arms and hands curled inwards. When I wake up both my hands are completely numb and I have to wait a minute or two before the feeling comes back.

There is a way of strapping it with sports tape that takes away the pain instantly if you get it right - mine has been so bad at times I've had to take my shoe off at work and then walk to the car with it still off. This is the only thing I've ever known that really helps.

Clarabellawilliamson · 15/01/2024 21:24

If I push my bottom teeth in (or tense muscles in my neck) one of my eyelids lifts upwards. It's not something I can do any other way, I can't do it by trying to move my eyelid.

whenindoubtgotothelibrary · 15/01/2024 21:25

Vertigo makes the soles of my feet tingle. Even thinking about high places does it (doing it now!)

Lemonademoney · 15/01/2024 21:25

This is such a brilliant thread! Howling at the bookshop/library comments 😂

I have a random very fine white hair that randomly grows out of my forearm. It’s so thin I forget about it until it’s probably six inches long then I pull it out and the process starts again.

Sclev · 15/01/2024 21:25

Me too! My sister spotted it. I have to pluck it.

Sclev · 15/01/2024 21:26

a thick black hair on my forearm. (I’m fair haired)
I also have a second line of fine eyelashes above the main ones!

NormaLouiseBates · 15/01/2024 21:26

This is fascinating! I'm sitting here thinking that I have no weird things but then remembered one which I think is a little bit weird 😂 whenever I cough while eating (if I choke a little bit or the food goes down the wrong way etc) I have a sneezing fit. Never happens if I have a cough due to a cold. Only food related.

whenindoubtgotothelibrary · 15/01/2024 21:27

Just googled vertigo and have seen that it doesn't mean what I thought it meant. Every day's a school day...!
