2 landing attempts and still not down.

I think it's windy there

Yes we’re on hols. It’s pouring with rain but warm!
the pilot was worried about running out of fuel because of us circling for so long . That’s what spooked me

Enjoy your holidays! Hope it's marvellous!

I think watching threads and landings or aborted landings/diversions like this is very reassuring actually, but I know you might not agree!

When I look at all the movements today, those that landed got down safely, obviously due to pilot skill and working to the airline's limit rules for attempts etc. Those that didn't or couldn't land were the result again of pilot decision/airline rules/max wind speed etc. and there were safe diversions.

In past years I would have died of fright if on a plane during something like this. However I now realise that it is all done within the safety limits and as my old Dad used to say, "the pilot doesn't want to die either!" (GermanWings is a different matter and very traumatic and sad though not connected with safety).

I don't like being involved in a windy landing, or a go around, or a sideways final approach, but I trust the pilots and crew. I have to!

I get what you mean but yes

I don't like being involved in a windy landing, or a go around, or a sideways final approach, but I trust the pilots and crew. I have to! this is whay I wouldn't be scared of. I have no control. I can't see what is going on. The plane will just blow around.

Scares me just reading that.

Least it is warm, and ultimately a wet holiday is better that wet work/normal life.

Have a good time, sounds like a lovely place but I have firmly crossed it off The List.

I would feel spooked if they'd told me that in that way. What they usually mean is they would reach the limit for the amount of fuel they have to have to divert to another airport instead. They won't actually run on fumes.

YummyCookie · 13/01/2024 20:20

Looks like the Lisbon easyJet is back off home? I wonder why he hasn’t circled at all like the rest

EwwSprouts · 13/01/2024 20:22

Enter Air coming in for a go.

Enter Air coming in for a go.

Nail biting this one.

whatausername · 13/01/2024 20:24

BOOM! Enter Air is down.

EwwSprouts · 13/01/2024 20:26

Phew! Warsaw incoming now.

soupmaker · 13/01/2024 20:27

Oh dear. Lisbon not even considering it.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 13/01/2024 20:27

@whatausername the regular approach to YYC is alongside the highway from Edmonton to Calgary. It’s quite interesting as a passenger in a vehicle!

It’s also the only airport I’ve ever experienced a go-around, in a Dash 8. The weather wasn’t bad. I just think the pilot misjudged it.

soupmaker · 13/01/2024 20:28

Wow. Binter back in the air.

EwwSprouts · 13/01/2024 20:29

Nope I've got confused. There are two Lisbon.

soupmaker · 13/01/2024 20:34

Next in line, Ryanair! I wonder if they up the pressure on their crew to hit targets? They are notorious profit-focused misers.

Not sure what targets you mean from an operational POV....on that side of things their record is solid.

Employee T&Cs and customer service is another matter.

SandyWaves · 13/01/2024 20:37

Is this thread still watching Funchal!!!😂

Journeytosober · 13/01/2024 20:40

binter looks like it’s aborted again !

EwwSprouts · 13/01/2024 20:41

EwwSprouts · 13/01/2024 20:42

Most tracked right now is an Air Asia from Hyderabad to Kuala Lumpur which seems to be landing in Phuket
Wonder what is going on there.

Maerchentante · 13/01/2024 20:50

Quick question: Where can you see if airplanes are squawking and what? Only have the basic version of FR
