2 landing attempts and still not down.

I think it's windy there

EasyJet way too high to be thinking about landing soon. Presume will circle for a while?

Is EasyJet at 32,000 ft?
That is very high!

I was watching this morning, popped out for a few hours, and now here I am. Where is the BA flight off to now? I’m cheering them on to land!

cakeorwine · 13/01/2024 14:58

Why are 3000 people watching a light plane near Stoke?

I hope the people who were on that flight are OK, and have the sense never to fly with Ryanair again. Bullies should not be supported.

ajandjjmum · 13/01/2024 14:59

Both Easyjets seem too high to land - 32,000/33,000, whereas BA is still around 5,000.

What?

It's probably that minimising fuel consumption/maximising holding time tactic I mentioned earlier.

Holding at those sort of altitudes can potentially double (or more) the amount of time you can hold before diverting verses what you get holding at a few thousand feet.

shreknjumps · 13/01/2024 15:00

The easyJets are just joining the queue. Tui on the way also. I wonder if they've had a night in Tenerife

cakeorwine · 13/01/2024 15:00

BA going for it now

Why are 3000 people watching a light plane near Stoke?

It's given out an emergency squawk - 7600 apparently means loss of comms.

cakeorwine · 13/01/2024 14:58

Why are 3000 people watching a light plane near Stoke?

Because it's issued a 7600 squawk which means it has lost verbal communication with ATC.

I think you're on the wrong thread...

Interesting - didn't know that - thank you.

I do wish we could hear the in flight announcements…

whatausername · 13/01/2024 15:04

When did BA first try to land? Can anyone remember?

1,30?

I can't, but I'm sure it came down to less that 2,000 before it headed off again. Around an hour ago?

cakeorwine · 13/01/2024 15:05

I bet the pilots know they are the most watched plane on Flight Radar at the moment.

OP posts:
ajandjjmum · 13/01/2024 15:06

Losing height now! Fingers crossed.

DrinksbytheSea · 13/01/2024 15:07

BA at 3,000 now!

Anonymouslyposting · 13/01/2024 15:07

Stupid question, I assume the pilots can’t speak to each other? So the BA flight won’t be talking to easyJet for example? I always assumed it’d all be through ATC but much more interesting if they are chatting away!

cakeorwine · 13/01/2024 15:08

Japanese airlines joining in

OP posts:
Givemestrengthorvodka · 13/01/2024 15:08

Do we know the reason why they can't land?

mybrainisfull · 13/01/2024 15:09

come on BA

ajandjjmum · 13/01/2024 15:10

Less than 2,000 now!
