Time to put bleach down the toilets. Part of me sometimes feels sorry for those germs

Exactly that really. Gonna put bleach down the toilets before bed. Not been done since Sunday. Those germs are probably minding their own business not knowing the bleach is coming for them. Sometimes feel sorry for those little blighters.

This is a very strange post

Emily1583 · 11/01/2024 22:44

Lol just late night meandering thoughts.

Does it make you sad to separate teabags too?

Emily1583 · 11/01/2024 22:48

Not teabags no but I do feel sorry for bits of leftover food chucked away. Like the odd grape that gets chucked away when they go off.

PickAChew · 11/01/2024 22:50

I think that grape that you rescued has fermented.

Emily1583 · 11/01/2024 22:53

The odd grape that's gets away probably gets incinerated at those local rubbish dump.

Like in the ad - was it Domestos? The last two germs on the wall whispering "I think we're the last ones here"....and then they're gone.

1Week · 11/01/2024 22:55

I get that too..
Also daisies when I mow the lawn.
Ridiculous, they are not sentient!

I hope you're being serious because I sometimes think like this as well 😬

Cattenberg · 11/01/2024 22:57

OP, I know what you mean. I normally pour bleach down the toilet without a second thought, but occasionally I feel a bit like I’m committing germ genocide.

Mum picks them to put in teeny vase. Well, mostly I do it for her now! And buttercups.

Emily1583 · 11/01/2024 23:00

Yeah Emma some of those Domestos adverts are kind of brutal lol

Emily1583 · 11/01/2024 23:01

Daisies are surely the prettiest weed. Love seeing them covering a lawn.

Bemyclementine · 11/01/2024 23:01

Oh god @Emily1583 I thought it was just me. If I have to throw a random pea that fell on the floor, I send it off with a friend. Can't have a lonely pea in the bin.

Bemyclementine · 11/01/2024 23:02

Also, cuddly toys or any toy animal. If you pick it up, you must buy it.

1Week · 11/01/2024 23:04

That's really sweet! But probably doesn't make all that difference to the daisies 🤔

Wherethewildthymeblows · 11/01/2024 23:05

My kids are adults, but I still go and talk to the cuddly toys I see for sale in garden centres, straighten them up, especially the owls, and whisper to them that someone will come and love them soon.

TheMotherSide · 11/01/2024 23:06

You don't have to, you know.
Bleach forms carcinogenic dioxins which enter waterways, and as a substance is incredibly harmful to aquatic life and any plant forms it comes into contact with.
My toilet pan is gleaming and I wash it with an ecofriendly bowl cleaner and an old flannels. Never smells.
Lay off the ecocidal bleach.

Emily1583 · 11/01/2024 23:07

Yeah now I've raised the thread the guilt is quite real now @GreatWaves

And yeah @Cattenberg normally I just do it without second though too lol

OP posts:
Emily1583 · 11/01/2024 23:09

@Bemyclementine yeah it's almost like that grape that gets away doesn't fullfil it's purpose.

CatherinetheAverage · 11/01/2024 23:10

Don't feel sorry for the germs, feel sorry for aquatic wildlife. Bleach gets into the waterways and harms it.

Falkenburg · 11/01/2024 23:13

Big bad Dom.

DyslexicPoster · 11/01/2024 23:13

No I couldn't give a stuff about the germs, but I do feel bad I'm flushing bleach into the water system. However I don't clean my loo as often as I should so my overall bleach to water use is minscule.

I have worked in various labs and studying growing stuff on agar then autoclaving them. Mwwwaahhhhaaa! Mass murder on industrial scale. Also very stinky. Germs smell bad

Grimchmas · 11/01/2024 23:15

Years ago I read somewhere that somebody made sure she got every single baked bean out of the tin because she worried about the odd baked bean that gets left at the bottom of the tin not fulfilling it's beany destiny and I think about that often.

Yeah, this is what I was thinking.

A lot of people really overuse bleach.

A bit down the toilet every so often is fine, OP, but you say it's not been done since Sunday. You don't need to use bleach every week.

But on the feeling sorry for germs thing...yeah I get in.

When I take eggs out the egg box I always make sure to make sure the remaining ones are huddled together.

Feel awful if I drop a lone piece of pasta down the drain whilst draining....imagine which member of the pasta family they might have been Sad
