Is this a very faint line or am I going mad? Been feeling off for a few days and had old pregnancy tests in the cupboard and did one on a whim. This came up in 2 mins.

I have a Mirena coil and have epilepsy and take lots of meds for it so this is in no way planned. Stressing out so much.

Don’t want to panic you but if you have a positive pregnancy test and a coil in you need to be seen urgently by an early pregnancy unit as it needs to be monitored to exclude ectopic pregnancy. Local referral guidelines will vary as to whether you can self refer or need to go via GP. All the best

Oh thank you. That will be next on my list of to do’s once I’ve confirmed 100%.

Heading out to get tests now so will update when I’m back. Thank you all so much for your support.

OrlandointheWilderness · 11/01/2024 13:07

Hope you get the result you are looking for.

Erinrose82 · 11/01/2024 13:08

i Can see a line. Confirm and then phone drs and specialist…
im on a strong medication for MS, contacted them quickly and all well. I realise it’s different ones but the quicker you sort this the better outcome.
thinking of you xx

LaBruja · 11/01/2024 13:35

I can see a faint line but I had a false positive with one of those strip tests so I'd definitely confirm with a better one if you can. Fingers crossed for you 💐

Queijo · 11/01/2024 16:04

Fuck. Have left a message for my epilepsy nurse to call me back, and have a drs appointment in the morning as need a referral to EPAU. No idea how far along I even am as have the Mirena.

So sorry OP, hope the nurse gets back to you soon!

Flickersy · 11/01/2024 16:09

Ah I'm sorry it's not what you were hoping OP. But you're doing the right thing by calling the nurse and seeing the doctor. I hope they can help you tomorrow, very best of luck.

indecisivewoman81 · 11/01/2024 16:27

Wishing you luck for tomorrow

TheShellBeach · 11/01/2024 16:28

Oh dear, that wasn't what you wanted.

So sorry OP but good on you for being so proactive and pragmatic.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 11/01/2024 16:36

Oh no! I'm really sorry things are so complicated for you
You've done everything you can for now, so I'm sure the epilepsy nurse will support you when she rings
You won't be the first this has happened to.

Just for people finding this thread in the future - PPs are wrong to say this type of test is less sensitive than more expensive ones. This is what is inside a more expensive one.

Thank you! Drives me mad when people insist on getting a clear blue, they're not as sensitive as the cheap strip tests and are notorious for false positives and indents.

PubicZirconia · 11/01/2024 16:45

Blimey!Hope your nurse gets back to you soon.Good job you thought to take a test in the first place considering you're on the coil!

Olika · 11/01/2024 19:36

Good luck!

Iloveburgerswaymorethanishould · 12/01/2024 00:38

Not promising this is reassuring enough as you’ve had more than one with positive (just) test. But I had 6 of the plus/ minus clear blues last year that had that line. And I wasn’t pregnant…. The straight line ones are better. Or a red dye test. Lloyds pharmacy do a sensitive one that’s meant to be the best out there. In any case I hope whichever way this goes, you are ok.

Queijo · 12/01/2024 07:54

Slightly better news - just spoke to my lovely epilepsy nurse and she said a couple of the medications I am taking can cause a false positive result. Never heard of that! So she said don’t panic yet, and once I speak to my dr ask for a scan at the EPAU and if it is confirmed we can go from there. Feel slightly less like I might have a panic attack at any second now.

Hi@Queijo that's slightly better news, anyway.
Good luck to you.
