Super king bedding problems!

Sotired22 · 06/01/2024 19:34

Upgraded to a super king bed and the bedding is driving me mad! I’ve got a super king duvet from M&S and 2 sets of bedding both from different shops. Both duvet covers are too big for the duvet. It’s impossible to keep the corners of the duvet in place and it all ends up bunched up inside the cover with loads of spare fabric on the sides. Why?!!

If it was just a set from one shop I’d assume it was that shop making it too big, but it’s both sets from different places. Do I need to buy one from M&S as the duvet is from there? Shouldn’t it all be universal sizes though? Never had this issue with king size or single bedding from various shops.

Has anyone else had this issue?

I agree with others saying that it sounds like you have put it in the wrong way around.

We’ve got bedding from lots of shops and never had an issue. Hope you get it sorted.

Well I definitely didn’t consider that I’m putting it in the wrong way… the lines are vertical and the label is at the bottom, isn’t this the case with all duvets?! Omg will have to measure the damn thing now and find out! Thanks all.

Definitely not using a king duvet by mistake, this one is brand new (and actually the second one I’ve had as I hated the first one - same issue with that one though!)

My duvet label always goes on the side.

Superking bed here too. It's a two person job changing the bed ( I can't lift the mattress) but definitely mark the top of the duvet with a sharpie, and get some of those bag clips to help with keeping the corners in the right place when you change the cover.

Another benefit of the two singles system. I will never go back to sharing a duvet.

OfDragonsDeep · 06/01/2024 20:29

No idea if it’s the same one, but I have a M&S super king duvet and the lines go horizontal.

Also in the club 👋

Dusk.com

Absolutely perfect.

We have a super king bed and now go for a super king coverrless duvet.

It's flipping fab - and goes in our washing machine and tumble dryer - total game changer.

ZombiePara · 06/01/2024 20:37

Lines on mine also go horizontally!

However - you can buy bedding on amazon with ties inside to tie the duvet corners and keep it in place!

@Sotired22 I had the same issue OP! Label ALWAYS at the bottom on every duvet I’ve had - except when we upgraded to superking and it’s now at the side 🙈

Sotired22 · 06/01/2024 20:51

Wow well this is a revelation, I’m glad I asked! I’ve just changed it tonight (which prompted the post) so I can’t be bothered to take it out now and re-do it, but will tomorrow and report back!

I have a duvet cover that has ties on the inside corners so you can tie the corners of the duvet to the inside of the duvet cover, keeping it in place. No bunching. It would be easy to sew some ties in to existing covers.

Also, super king bedding is almost, but not quite, square so its easy to put the bedding on the wrong way round.

Bluevelvetsofa · 06/01/2024 22:34

Yes, the seams are horizontal and I’ve made the same mistake in the past. D H has to be reminded every time.

EconomyClassRockstar · 06/01/2024 22:38

If the duvet has brand on it, the label normally goes on the bottom right hand corner of the duvet, or in my case, top right upside down as I do that putting the duvet cover on inside out thing.

Just want to recommend fatface linen bedding - great sale at £60 for a superking set. I always gets my duvet the wrong way round too - going to write on things somehow

Topofthemountain · 07/01/2024 10:17

I have a Marks duvet, lines run horizontal.

What a genius idea 😱

Same here. Plus then you can have different togs, and you don't pull it off each other in the night.

Inyourwildestdreams · 07/01/2024 21:37

@Sotired22 I’m invested 🙈😂 Did you manage to fix the issue?!

magicstar1 · 07/01/2024 21:42

We have a double duvet each and it’s so cosy, but DH can wrap himself up while I kick my covers around. I’d never be able to go back to one duvet.

Perfectlystill · 07/01/2024 21:44

We have a super king and I have written END on each end of the duvet in Sharpie so I make the bed up properly.

I have bedding from the White Company and also Cologne & Cotton and no probs like you describe.

I don't want to suggest that you are stupid, so apologies if this doesn't help but - you do know that a super king duvet is rectangular?? So if you don't have it the right way round, it will not fit the cover properly.

I... did not know this! And I've had a super king for quite a few years. Explains a lot! Thank you! Blush

Stickykidney · 07/01/2024 22:03

Also joining the club! Was soooo frustrating wanting a big lovely duvet and always having it not fit properly... Very annoying! Then I realised.. much better now! Hoping you got it sorted op

Bearpawk · 07/01/2024 22:06

All of my duvets have horizontal lines. I think you've got it in sideways op x

Achoo2 · 07/01/2024 22:12

Omg what a bloody revelation - I've had one for over 25 years and didn't know this! Thank you thank you thank you 😊
