I've not been up long, had a nice looong sleep, unusual for me. I'm just settling into my kitchen spot while I drink my first cuppa in silence.

I've got a load of washing go in the machine shortly & last night's pots to wash up, when I get to them.

The girls are off shopping for my birthday today, with their dad, so I'm going to spend the day pottering. I want to mop in the living room once the tree's away - I'll shift the furniture about to get underneath it. Once that's done, I have two peg people to finish off, then varnish the ones I've painted over the Christmas hols.

Dd2 wants to cook later so tonight is home-made chicken nuggets with honey bbq sauce to dip, and salad on the side - one of her favourites 😋

Later on, I'll crochet a stone for the turn taking avocado, ready to return the avocado on Monday and read some more of my book. I'll probably do a few more Murdle puzzles too.

Both girls could do with making sure they've done all their homework so I'll get them to do that before chilling for the evening.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning @lucysmam!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas? Haven't been on here much so this is my first weekend Lucysmam thread for a while, feels nice to be back!

We are having a nice quiet day before out for drinks tonight with friends. One load of washing to be done, have just put that on, and will run the vac round later. On my second cuppa enjoying the peace this Saturday morning!

LillyLeaf · 06/01/2024 09:57

My parents have taken my boy out for the day. They are visiting and don't live local so we never have weekends free. I haven't sat down with a coffee in a quiet house for months without a crazy 3 year old. I'm just listening to the birds in the garden. But in 5 minutes I need to go buy some diy decorating stuff ready some some serious painting.

Thislittlekitten · 06/01/2024 09:59

Morning. I’m at work but having a tea break. Morning going well so far.

DH is going to town with the kids today and then cooking off a chicken to have for tea with crusty bread and corn on the cob and salad bits. Looking forward to it after the excess of the last few weeks.

Tonights plan is to watch a film with DS and try not doze off 🙈

Just getting up and ready, going for some brunch with DH and DC in town.
Then need to buy dc2 new trainers & a food shop (the joys!)
Come back this afternoon let DC play on their computers, dc1 just added his school friends to his gamer account which is a huge step for him as he has autism and isn't usually keen to socialise outside of school so will let him play his games with his friends.

I'm going to try and finish my book, as DH turn to cook tonight. Smile nice chill day!

MissMarplesNiece · 06/01/2024 10:01

I've just had tea and toast. I'm feeling quite tired and I'm trying to resist going back to bed for an hour.

I need to go food shopping and am planning to go out later with DH to buy a new mattress.

BrutusMcDogface · 06/01/2024 10:02

Morning! I have a gym class and then afternoon drinks with a friend - my social life has died a death recently so that will be nice. I’ve spent the last week in a real downer- not sure why. As a result all the laundry has piled up so I need to catch up on that.

Enjoy your day @lucysmam 😁

rosao · 06/01/2024 10:02

I hope you had a lovely Christmas @lucysmam.

It's finally stopped raining here so we are getting out for the day to a local NT kind of place with a picnic. I'm really looking forward to it, feels like we've been stuck indoors forever.

Something quick and easy for dinner tonight (No Take Away January 🫤) and finish off the Christmas drinks.

StrawberryJellyBelly · 06/01/2024 10:06

I’ve been rather unwell since Christmas night. I’m sure I’ve had Covid. I felt quite a bit better this morning so one of my girls came and took me for coffee and a turn round the supermarket. It took just under 3 hours all in and I’m now back in bed exhausted. Hopefully a nap will give me the energy to get out into the garden later on today but right now I wouldn’t bet on it.

Peridot1 · 06/01/2024 10:07

Morning @lucysmam. Hope you are doing well.

Lazy morning here for me. Have been up ages but just sitting drinking tea and had a toasted cinnamon and raisin bagel for breakfast. Just having another cup of tea and then will get going.

Today’s task is to take the Christmas stuff down. Two trees and far too much Christmas stuff means it’s a big job. Hoping to finish this afternoon and just sit and read my book. Going into our neighbours for dinner tonight which will be nice.

Nanny31 · 06/01/2024 10:07

Good morning all

I've started the day by making some banana bread. The rest of the day will see me studying with plenty of coffee!

It's a blue sky day so may push for a walk

Peridot1 · 06/01/2024 10:09

@StrawberryJellyBelly - DH and I had covid over Christmas too and are really feeling the tiredness. Not too bad in the mornings but shattered in the afternoons.

anybloodyname · 06/01/2024 10:09

Morning ! I've just put washing outside which is a huge bonus as we've all been recently flooded in South Derbyshire

I'm going for a massage today ( Xmas pressie voucher ) so that's something to look forward to

dudsville · 06/01/2024 10:15

Morning! I over did things yesterday. I've been going to the gym every day ( I won't continue this, I just wanted to get up to a baseline), so in addition to working I went to the gym, dismantled and stowed christmas, cleaned house and made a wonderfully healthy dinner. I had plans for today that included going to the gym and doing to some sewing projects, but I may be having a sofa day! Started the day with a pot of strong tea in bed, then a dog walk followed by a homemade egg mcmuffin (low fat low calorie turkey "bacon"). I think I'll have a bath, put on fresh pyjamas and look up some old films.

gingercat02 · 06/01/2024 10:16

Just up, showered, and dressed. My class this morning was full, so I had a lazy one today.
De-Christmased the house yesterday, so it's lovely, clean, and tidy.
First wash on, watching Saturday Kitchen and having a coffee now.
Looks like it might not be raining today, so will try to get out to see how the garden has faired with all the wind and rain.

Kim82 · 06/01/2024 10:16

Good morning. Just me and dd9 are up here and I’m feeling a bit ropey after drinking too much wine with my sisters last night. We booked a child and husband free holiday together and celebrated a little bit too much!

Dh is at work, dd19 is away visiting her friend until Wednesday and dd16 is in bed. I’ve just taken in my Tesco food delivery but it’s sitting on the worktop waiting to be put away because I can’t face it yet!

I’ll have to pull myself together soon though as I need to take dd9 into town to buy some new school shoes and cardigans as she’s outgrown hers. I’ll be rewarding myself by getting us both McDonald’s for lunch which will hopefully get rid of the hangover. Dd then wants to go to the retail park to spend some Christmas money then it’s home to help dh put up DD’s trampoline that she got for Christmas and then I plan on sitting for the rest of the day! Sausage pasta for tea then an early, very sober night for me!

Amdone123 · 06/01/2024 10:16

Morning all and thanks for the thread @lucysmam - I love reading what everyone is up to.
I've had breakfast ( same as pp - toasted cinnamon and raisin bagel with crispy bacon - delicious).
I'm going to have a nice bath before my granddaughters visit. 1 is only a month old, so can't wait for cuddles. The other is 8, so we'll do some activities - probably make candles and play school.
Later, a film and reading. Perfect day.
@BrutusMcDogface hope you're feeling perkier soon. January can be a tough month ❤️

Justonedayatatime11 · 06/01/2024 10:19

Morning @lucysmam!
Still lazing in bed. Been a difficult week, I lost my hearing in one side the day after Boxing Day and then my face went numb. Finally saw a GP on Thurs and I'm now on a 2 WW referral which is scary.
I think today will be very slow. Trip to M&S and the butchers and then home to curl up with the kittens. Should really stop calling them that, they're 6 months next week!

Amdone123 · 06/01/2024 10:19

@Kim82 there's something about booking a holiday that makes you reach for the wine ! I always do it 🤣

EmpressSoleil · 06/01/2024 10:22

Morning all. Post Christmas clean up here. The house is a mess! This afternoon DD and I are playing some board games, we both love them and she’s back to Uni next week so will be nice to spend an afternoon doing that. Curry and naan for dinner and will carry on watching “fool me once”.

Amdone123 · 06/01/2024 10:22

@Justonedayatatime11 try not to worry - difficult I know. You've been seen and hopefully it will soon be sorted ❤️

Beezknees · 06/01/2024 10:23

Good morning all!

I am heading to the gym shortly for a class at 11, then doing a bit of tidying at home and meeting a friend at the pub for a drink this afternoon. 15yo DS is still asleep, not sure what his plans are today but probably either gaming/going to a friend's house to game/having a friend over to game. 🙄

RabbitsRock · 06/01/2024 10:24

Good morning lucysmam & everyone. Blue sky & sunshine here in Cornwall after seemingly endless rain so definitely getting out in the fresh air later. Will probably walk round the harbour. DD15 is going to her girlfriend’s at lunchtime. Need to unload & load the dishwasher plus do some bits by hand then put a load of washing out - such a novelty!! DH & I are going to look at bathroom paint after he finishes work. Going for silver/ pewter. Easy tea of battered fish, chips & beans. I might have a Baileys later on this evening as still some left from Christmas.

TaffyTuck · 06/01/2024 10:25

In bed contemplating what I actually have to get up for
life’s a mess

20Twenty4 · 06/01/2024 10:25

Morning!

I was up most of the night with the DC so got the long lie this morning. DH has taken the boys to the supermarket so I've filled the dishwasher, loaded the washing machine and just sat down with a hot coffee.

Once they're back, we'll have something to eat before DS2 goes for a nap. DS1 has been desperate to play with the slime factory he got for Christmas so he'll do that whilst DH and I tidy up a bit. Once the youngest is up, we'll go for a walk along the beach as it's a beautiful, cold but sunny day here today.

Tonight, once the kids are in bed, I'm going to get a quick workout in before having a bath and an early night. I'm looking forward to the return of the light nights.

lucysmam · 06/01/2024 10:28

@Justonedayatatime11 the waiting about parts are the worst, honestly. & it's hopefully nothing major 🤞 Enjoy your snuggles with the kittens 😊

@TaffyTuck sorry you're feeling that way 💐 Anything we can do to help?
