His toenails were gross- crusty and battered- I’m sure Victoria put an end to that!

she never stopped him playing football?

I worked in an industry that deals with artists daily

lots of them are much nicer than you can ever imagine. I always found the ones who got famous quickly tend to be more horrid. But I have had a few day tk me ‘so you know who I am?!?’
mi signed NDA’s a lot though so I wouldn’t say. Because if I ever want to go back there…

I agree, and I wonder how many of the people cited here as being horrible / arrogant etc were not being ‘met’ but being accosted and harassed while going about their private business?

A book signing, an appearance at an event etc: fair enough, they are working. Having dinner: leave them alone!

Cerealkiller4U · 06/01/2024 11:12

Oh. One who I can talk about though as it wasn’t though work

charles dance came to my house to make a scene for a film in my front room. (This was in 1984 or so) my mum worked for marks and Spencer’s. But they were doing a film about shop lifting

he made me a picnic and we played football in my front lawn with my mum and dad. They emptied our entire front room in the back yard which was hysterical. The scene was a women got caught shop lifting and Charles dance arrested her at her house. She had to cry and I remember her coming down the stairs crying and she told me she wasn’t proper crying and explained to me for like 15 mins how she did it. Nice lady. No idea who she is!

He, however was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met.

My dad knows Matt Damon. Damon’s wife’s brother works at the rugby club my dad helps train at. She comes to see him quite a lot.

dad says he’s really nice and really friendly. No airs and graces.

A family member has had contact with Clive Myrie through work. Said he’s an arrogant arsehole

So do I and he absolutely is not.

@Doseofreality 😆 You liked him then??!!

Oh. I let him and his wife recently.

he’s so lovely! Really nice man. Wife is gorgeous!’

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 06/01/2024 11:25

I’ve thought of another proxy one - my ex’s mother walked in on Emma Thompson and her boyfriend in a bath at my college. I lived a few doors down from that exact bath and not only did it have a lock but it also looked like approximately 15 people had died in it so I don’t know why this happens but the idea amuses me hugely.

Am also a friend of a hugely successful children’s author. She’s a darling and absolutely loves her young fans, really genuine person.

Mrsknowitall · 06/01/2024 11:25

Danny dyer opened his front door in his boxers to me and my friend when we were knocking for his brother.
met phil Mitchell and a load of the eastenders cast at a memorial night spent the evening chatting with Cindy Beale and her mum we all went on to another club after my dad and his mate jumped in a cab with Cindy while me and my mum shared a cab with Cindy’s mum lol many moons ago this was I was only 15 at the time but was a brilliant night

The allegations were nonsense. so you can enjoy your memories in peace!

No, they weren't.

glittereyelash · 06/01/2024 11:30

I was in a restaurant in Dublin sitting beside a big group of ridiculously good looking people. Had know idea who they were until a year later. It was the cast of the series vikings. All seemed down to earth and good fun.

HahaCharadeYouAre · 06/01/2024 11:31

Was waiting for a taxi and Jimmy Carr walked out of the building I was waiting at. He stopped to chat and was lovely. He complimented my tattoo.

Met David Walliams three or four times and he has always been nice to me, I once asked him if I could film him and he said yes so I thought I was doing a video, Got home and looked and instead I had taken three extreme close up shots of his forehead and one of his nostril! (I had bought my first iPhone an hour previous to meeting him and did the video wrong!)

Matt Lucas was lovely. HE asked ME for a selfie lol..

HarrietStyles · 06/01/2024 11:35

I worked as a Nanny/PA/Maternity Nurse for several well known celebrities. And nearly all of them were lovely people………. But my overwhelming experience was that they were just very normal and boring people, just like everyone else!

Posypointshoes · 06/01/2024 11:38

Tom Hiddleston. The first time I met him he was very earnest and a bit try hard, that was when he was relatively new to being famous. Very sweet though and a real gent.
the second time was a few years later and he remembered me and was much more laid back, equally sweet though.

Julian Rhind Tutt - quite intense, very interesting, very different to his on screen personas. Again very gentlemanly.

Peter Andre - he was showing off in the Ivy When I was there for a job interview!

Anne Robinson - miserable.

I'm glad people have good experiences of Elton. He had a bit of a diva reputation for a while (probably the drug years) and I've always loved him. He did an incredibly generous thing for a friend of mine.
We saw him at the O2 last year and the fact that he's still got the same band he started with speaks volumes, I think.
I'd love to meet Victoria Beckham. I think she's a scream. I saw a documentary of her and Elton going round a record shop and she was telling him how football fans would since 'Posh Spice takes it up the arse' and he said 'Well, that's something we've got in common!!'

He’s very nice, we’ve met him a few times, a friend performed with him once and we were at the rehearsals, he knew my son played a little bit of piano so he sat and taught him a few things. He then sent us a catalogue and asked us to choose a piano from it at no cost, we said thank you very much, but no thank you.

Anyotherdude · 06/01/2024 11:48

I met Alex Kingston. Just struck up a conversation in the T5 lounge because our planes had been delayed! I remember thinking “do I know you?” but styled it out. She was very pleasant and we chatted about everything for about an hour - then her flight was called. She went off to LAX and I continued my way into Europe. I only realised who she was later that day!

Elliania · 06/01/2024 11:48

I worked an event with Michael York in a former job & he was so polite and kind to everyone he met. I remember when the staff at the event came to fetch him for lunch he refused to go until he was reassured that both myself & the other girl working had options for lunch. He even offered to bring us some food back! Very kind man.

Andy Serkis was lovely and I'd have loved to have had a proper chat with hm.

Rik Mayall was exactly like how you'd imagine; funny, a bit hyper but had all the time in the world to chat.

Also watching to see if anyone has met Ricky Gervais.

My friend always bumps into him walking his dog

MaggieNextDoor · 06/01/2024 11:51

I was tasked with taking my niece to a One Direction concert, years ago now, she was 14 and totally besotted with Zayn Malik. My mum had splashed out on VIP tickets for us both, which included a meet and greet with the band. It was a very brief meeting, maybe 5 minutes. Enough time for a photo of her with all of them and one with Zayn on his own. They were all friendly and it was obvious they had been given some kind of media training. Louis Tomlinson smelt of cigarettes and Fabreze. Harry Styles hugged my niece and winked at me over her shoulder - he was cute back then. They all seemed like nice lads, and a bit overwhelmed by their enormous fame.

And then they all came back to mine for tea.

That last line might not be true.

margotmargeaux · 06/01/2024 11:51

Sheila Hancock, miserable woman.

@elp30 love your Jack Nicholson story!

Thisisginalinetti · 06/01/2024 11:54

Motsi Mabuse
Craig Revel Horwood
Stanley Tucci

All absolutely lovely & friendly

ilovepineapplesreally · 06/01/2024 11:55

I met John Taylor (Duran Duran), in a restaurant. He was absolutely charming, friendly and looked much better IRL (if that is even possible swoon) . I left the restaurant, a shaking wreck with a huge smile.

Anna Friel - entitled arrogant arsehole
Nick Grimshaw - lovely, shy, unassuming polite -naturally quite cool. Good looking too (had never thought this before!)
Anthony Cotton - odious, entitled horrible little cretin of a man
Rupert Penry Jones - lovely, charming down to earth
Andy from CBBC/ Andy's dinosaurs - lovely, friendly, seems like a real extrovert and naturally quite wacky
Cameron Mackintosh - bit of a luvvie but polite enough to put up with my drunken 'dare' of going up to speak to him
Kim Kardashian (not me personally, but apparently really pleasant and complimented my friend on her shoes.)

I live near Anna friel and she's always been absolutely delightful anytime i or anyone i know has met/spoken with her!

DoraSpenlow · 06/01/2024 12:10

Not me but a friend used to work at a Tourist Information office. She looked up one day to be faced with Clint Eastwood. He asked her a question but she couldn't take it in and had to ask him to repeat it. She eventually managed to get her chin off the floor and supply him with the information he wanted and he gave her a lovely smile. As he left he said thank you for your help ma'am and winked at her. She thinks the wink was because she didn't draw attention to him and just dealt with him like any other customer.

She had to go and splash cold water on her face after he had gone. She said he was very gently spoken and very polite.

One was rather horrid to me. They were sort of how I hoped they would be I guess. Except the horrid one. She's a big name in comedy and maybe she thought I was up my own arse or something. I don't like her but I still enjoy her comedy. She is very funny.

Is she one of a double act?

Barry Chuckle in London - aloof

He may have seemed that way to you...

She is.

InAMess2023 · 06/01/2024 12:11

Also Diego Maradona in the late 90s... he was exactly how you'd imagine! And told me I looked like Tina Turner! I was 13 years old with a complex about my looks so that didn't go down well...

Met John Humphries when I was a contestant on Mastermind, what a miserable bastard! I say met but he didn't interact with any of the contestants in any way other than when asking the questions. But he was just rude to all the staff, especially when a runner poured him bottled instead of tap water!
