Jonny Vegas-such a lovely man.

Backtomyoldname · 06/01/2024 10:04

Sir Keith Joseph - some years ago. Very polite, spoke to everyone even the caretaker.
Unlike John Gummer - CBA to speak to staff at school event. So never really met him.
Ed Balls - as you'd expect. bouncy but decent.
Yvette Cooper - quiet, but nice.
Hilary Benn - really nice man. polite, asked questions. Met him a few times socially/work related.

I recently met Danny Boyle, he was absolutely lovely, I went to the last performance of Free Your Mind, (the ballet he directed ) in Manchester and he was in the audience and just chatting to everyone as they left. He was genuinely interested in what people had thought about the performance. I have always been a fan of his work and it was wonderful to have a conversation with him.

Anna Friel - entitled arrogant arsehole
Nick Grimshaw - lovely, shy, unassuming polite -naturally quite cool. Good looking too (had never thought this before!)
Anthony Cotton - odious, entitled horrible little cretin of a man
Rupert Penry Jones - lovely, charming down to earth
Andy from CBBC/ Andy's dinosaurs - lovely, friendly, seems like a real extrovert and naturally quite wacky
Cameron Mackintosh - bit of a luvvie but polite enough to put up with my drunken 'dare' of going up to speak to him
Kim Kardashian (not me personally, but apparently really pleasant and complimented my friend on her shoes.)

QueenOfMOHO · 06/01/2024 10:07

Loads that I've already posted about on here.
The latest was Tyson Fury. Very nice polite man, (as were his lovely children).

Joe Wicks is very strange. A hyperactive toddler in a thick as pig shit man’s odd looking body. He would shag himself if he could.

What a description! 🤣🤣

QueenOfMOHO · 06/01/2024 10:09

Alexa51* I'm very jealous at Rupert Penry Jones, would lick his face if I met him 😁

wellhello24 · 06/01/2024 10:09

Me and my friends knocked on David Beckhams door a couple times for an autograph in the late 90s when we were 14 (I know- cringe) He always took the time. His toenails were gross- crusty and battered- I’m sure Victoria put an end to that!

“Ed Balls- Bouncy but decent”!! 😂😂 my favourite description.
Old bouncy balls.

Princess Anne once came to my school over a decade ago. She had so much entourage it was unreal... the whole school made a big song and dance over what was to be a boring short speech 🎤

I've met her off duty (in a woollen mill on a Scottish island, which is exactly where I'd picture her!!) and she was really sweet, didn't realise it was her at first. We discussed tweed 😅

Fraaahnces · 06/01/2024 10:26

Due to my previous job, I have met a few celebs… The most memorable ones were Elton John. (Lovely, warm human being.) Gene Simmons from Kiss. I was working with a much younger demographic that day and was the only one who’d heard of him. He didn’t seem to handle not being recognised well, and made sure he sat in the most visible (and inconvenient for the workers) seat, and “generously” offered all of us a seat on his lap.

Fishwiife · 06/01/2024 10:27

I met Gino D’Acampo when he came into the office. Totally charming, kissed every woman on each cheek (in a very genuine not pervy way)

QueenOfMOHO · 06/01/2024 10:28

Years ago we were at a festival in Gloucestershire, it was at the time that Sainsbos used to put short biographies about the farmers on the bags of potatoes. My DC developed weird obsessions with these different farmers.
We spotted Jeremy Clarkson chatting to a chap and before we could stop DS he ran over shouting "I can't believe it's really you, can I have a photo" to the potato farmer.
Jezzas face was a picture to behold.

Johnny Depp when he was in London for the premiere of one of the pirate films. He was very nice. This was almost 20 years ago, mind. Before all the recent allegations!

The allegations were nonsense. so you can enjoy your memories in peace!

I'd love to meet Ricky Gervais hope someone comes on to say they have

I reckon his partner, Jane Fallon, is on here.

VanityDiesHard · 06/01/2024 10:43

Dame Helen Mirren (before she was a Dame!) trod on my foot in the basement coffee shop of the late lamented Virgin Megastore on the Tottenham Court Road. She had the front to scowl at me! I don't hold it against her, I aspire to that level of Grande Dame bitchiness.

Around the same time period (2004) Jeremy Edwards from Hollyoaks tried to hit on me in a bar. He was polite when I turned him down, so no hard feelings.

I met Kelly Brook and Thom Evans. She is a ditz and he was a knob.

I served Jim Kerr in a shop with his girlfriend , he was lovely and friendly.
Also Robbie Coltrane was friendly too.

You met Liz Jones!? 😉

I recently met Clive Myrie. Just the loveliest man ever.

I would be really shocked to hear anything else! He is so lovely.

Noel Fielding held my hair whilst I was being sick.

I want to know more about this!

I saw clive Owen once, he's much taller and better looking in real life. Actually the person I was with recognized him. Good story I know ! Usually celebrities are smaller though, and I had never found him attractive on screen.

If he is better looking in real life then he must be a god. He is one of the most beautiful men ever imo.

Hollybobs1 · 06/01/2024 11:02

I have met Ronan Keating who was horrible and Craig David who was absolutely lovely

beguilingeyes · 06/01/2024 11:03

I'm glad people have good experiences of Elton. He had a bit of a diva reputation for a while (probably the drug years) and I've always loved him. He did an incredibly generous thing for a friend of mine.
We saw him at the O2 last year and the fact that he's still got the same band he started with speaks volumes, I think.
I'd love to meet Victoria Beckham. I think she's a scream. I saw a documentary of her and Elton going round a record shop and she was telling him how football fans would since 'Posh Spice takes it up the arse' and he said 'Well, that's something we've got in common!!'

BudgetFoodie · 06/01/2024 11:04

Bonnie Tyler - totally down to earth and very funny!
Greg Davies, he was lovely and remained polite to those asking for selfies while he was trying to have a quiet dinner!
Roy Castle was an absolute delight as was Leo Sayer.
Michael Sheen is totally down to earth and very entertaining.
Frank Carson - met him at a hotel he was staying at in the 1980s he was naturally funny.

Ruth Jones is a friend of a friend and she joined our virtual book group during lockdown. She was absolutely lovely, really down to earth.

I told her a scandalous story from my family history, she laughed a lot and I've wondered if I'll ever see it rewritten by her for tv!

I want to know the story! Love a bit of family history

I worked in an industry that deals with artists daily

lots of them are much nicer than you can ever imagine. I always found the ones who got famous quickly tend to be more horrid. But I have had a few day tk me ‘so you know who I am?!?’
mi signed NDA’s a lot though so I wouldn’t say. Because if I ever want to go back there…
