Watching the new traitor series and her face and neck the most unatural orange colour. Everyone else is a nice normal colour even with lots of makeup on. Who on earth does her makeup?

I love kilts.

MouseMinge · 06/01/2024 17:33

I was telling a friend about this thread today and it led to us having a lovely half hour talk about all the ways in which we love Claudia.

She's the hill I'd die on. If someone told me she had killed a puppy, I'd refuse to believe it. If it turned out she had I'm sure that it would turn out that the puppy had been an arsehole who deserved it.

Her inspiration for last years looks apparently. She’s great 😊

‘For Strictly this year it was Elvis – only as an inspiration, not literally – and for Traitors it was Princess Anne meets Ronnie Corbett meets Madonna when she married Guy Ritchie,’ she told The Times.

Love her look ...especially in the traitors but omg ...sunbeds are so dangerous. I used them myself a few times...skin cancer risk.

Singleandproud · 08/01/2024 21:07

Catching up on Series one as we've already watched available episodes of S2 and the American version.

Spurred on by this thread I came across this OK interview where she talks lovingly of her hair and make up style. it also has a photo of
Claudia pre fringe from the 90s and I would never have recognised her

Claudia Winkleman shows what she really looks like without a fringe

EXCLUSIVE: Strictly star Claudia Winkleman looks so different without her trademark hair style and tan in vintage snap, and says she’s thrilled to have settled on her style

She's a great presenter.

Tess Daley can't react at all to whatever the other person says. She just ploughs on with whatever is next on her script.

Claudia is witty.

RickDaglass · 08/01/2024 21:30

Claudia and the Orange Horror Trump would make a lovely couple.

StrangeNew · 09/01/2024 00:38

Tess Daley can't react at all to whatever the other person says. She just ploughs on with whatever is next on her script.

That used to be exactly my complaint with Jo Whiley. Perfect in every other way but simply didn’t grasp the essence of a two way conversation. I recall she used to ask interesting, well constructed questions, the interviewee would give a long, thoughtful answer - and she’d just respond with ‘Yeah.’ and move on to the next question. It was infuriating!

So yes, it’s instructive to realise how Claudia makes her own reaction to an answer part of the entertainment in the moment.

SirChenjins · 09/01/2024 08:42

That’s exactly what Jo Whiley does! I find her so infuriating for that very reason - she obviously knows her music but can’t interact with her guests or her listeners at all.

the80sweregreat · 09/01/2024 14:06

The late Paul o Grady was a good interviewer and he let people speak and actually listened.
Some presenters do tend to talk over the guests or don't seem to listen

martinisforeveryone · 09/01/2024 14:23

Tim Lovejoy is another one who allows the guest to speak but then just says 'mmmm' and moved on, it's as though he just doesn't actually listen, or if he does, he doesn't comprehend.

MaggieFS · 11/01/2024 10:25

CW had RED lipstick on traitors last night!

myusernamewastakenbyme · 11/01/2024 10:35

I really like her but not sure the pale lips are v flattering....sometimes you see her with a stronger colour lippy on and she looks amazing.

Lottapianos · 11/01/2024 15:40

'I really like her but not sure the pale lips are v flattering'

One of the reasons I love her look is because it's NOT 'flattering', but she obviously loves it anyway. Conventional make up advice for her would probably be to ease off on the eyeliner, lay off the tan and wear and orange-red lipstick. They do soften her look a bit on Strictly sometimes and she looks great, but I love that her own preference is for a more extreme look

BIossomtoes · 11/01/2024 15:45

She looked wonderful on Traitors last night with red lipstick.

ShowOfHands · 11/01/2024 16:19

I adore her. She is witty, erudite, irreverent and unapologetically herself.

Don't give a stuff what shade of fake tan she uses. More power to her orangeness. I'm gutted she's leaving R2.

DaftFlerken · 11/01/2024 16:21

I think she's great but I agree with OP - the orange look is terrible

TheDogIsInCharge · 11/01/2024 16:36

I used to know her years ago when she first started presenting and our make up artist told me that Claudia was very sure of her own style and wanted to be as orange as she could with pale lips. No variation. It was cool really - it wasn't a time when that look was in fashion, but she was very sure of herself, not in a bad way either. She was genuinely lovely.

I love that she has kept this look despite years of many people attempting to change her. AndI bet there have been loads of tv execs trying to do just that.

Disturbia81 · 11/01/2024 16:54

I don't like the look personally but I LOVE people who look however the fuck they want to. Especially on tv which is full of sheep.

Elvanseshortage · 11/01/2024 16:55

herewegoroundtheblueberrybush · 04/01/2024 20:27

But in the other hand I'm obsessed with her outfit in episode 2 of traitors with the tartan skirt and big wool jumper.

Yes I loved the tartan skirt. Does anyone know where it’s from?

InstrumentsofTorture · 11/01/2024 16:59

Wow, she looks so much like her mum in that picture where her hair is lighter.

As an aside, did anyone catch the make/name of the eyeliner she uses in the YouTube clip upthread please? Always on the lookout for an eyeliner with staying power!

LenaLamont · 11/01/2024 17:14

I love Claude, she's a blast. She was fun on Film 2010 (and onwards) and was utterly marvellous as the original host of Sewing Bee. She's warm, funny and self-depreciating.

DillDanding · 11/01/2024 17:22

She can do no wrong in my eyes, but I really did not like her red lipstick last night.

MouseMinge · 11/01/2024 20:07

Oh my god I want that skirt! I can't currently afford it but I want it!

This last week I've decided to lean into her eyeliner. Less than her and in a dark brown, not black with a bit more eye shadow and seriously, it's not what I'd usually go for but I love it because it sort of looks good, it is making me feel good, and it doesn't matter. It's a mixture of confidence and having no fucks to give. Thank you, Claudia!

I had no idea she was leaving Radio 2. Gutted! And she was the best on Sewing Bee. I like Joe Lycett and Sarah Pascoe but they don't hold a candle to her.
