What are your DH's hobbies?

alliwantforchristmasis50k · 02/01/2024 17:29

I see a lot of threads that mention that a DH ominously has a "hobby"...I feel like it would sometimes add a bit of context to thread subject if we knew what the hobby was?

Snowboarding is pretty different to stamp collecting

Taxidermy is different to badger baiting

Etc

Do you hate it??? Do you think its weird??? Do you not gaf??

What does your DH do??

(I am also a 40 Yr old bloke so kinda nosey as to what other men have as hobbies. I hate sports and I guess my main hobby is reading??)

Nothing apart from staring at the tv, night after night.

LoobyDop · 02/01/2024 22:00

Gaming, playing with the cat, watching football. I would much rather he did something other than gaming, tbh. I think it’s physically unhealthy to spend so much time hunched in front of the pc, and I’m not at all sure it’s good for his mental health. I don’t interfere though, in more than the mildest way.

Oh yes,my DH also has this hobby of not closing lids or containers of any kind. Leaves a sort of trail. He also doesn't put anything in any kind of bin,be it clothes,(they go beside it!) or rubbish,he will walk into the kitchen and put "something" on the work top,it's a tiny kitchen the bin is very near. I didn't put watching TV.i didn't think that was a hobby. He enjoys documentaries, engineering, cars, planes, wildlife, planet. I know a few gamers, you go to visit them, they are sitting "online" ,can't tear themselves away. We have a E-bike, weight bench, bands,at home we both use. We cycled a lot before we moved, top of a hill now, and I'm in my 70s. I can vouch,it's NOT true, you never forget how to ride a bike!

CurlewKate · 03/01/2024 08:33

Cycling. It's almost always cycling.

YfenniChristie · 03/01/2024 08:45

Dancing (ballroom and Latin) and gaming. He dances 2-3 times a week, and I always feel a bit guilty when he ends up cancelling due to me and/or DS 'cause it means letting his dance partner down.

I've had dance lessons with him (for our wedding dance - never happened, 'cause COVID). I enjoyed it but it's not my thing.

Interesting.

Intentionally? Or in towels and mugs?

😂😂

Justgivemehotchocolate · 03/01/2024 08:57

The dreaded cycling.

But he doesn’t disappear for hours on end at the weekend and when he does go out I quite often go too.

Used to be a keen squash player but not played for some years due to back problems. Now retired. Taught himself to speak another language.
Currently teaching himself the guitar. Regular computer gamer, reads a lot, watches most sports and enjoy travelling. Also likes gardening and doing a bit of DIY.

If you mean being constantly in the dark and fed on a diet of shit you would be correct.

GettingStuffed · 03/01/2024 15:02

Family tree and watching cricket

cheapskatemum · 03/01/2024 15:02

All these years I've been assuming it's cycling & according to this thread it's far more likely to be Warhammer! Or are all the cycling widows not posting because it would be too outing?

FWIW, DH's hobbies:
Cars - pricing them up, choosing colour combinations (exterior & interior), working out finance, trying to get a good deal. When he's finally bought one it's always the best car ever for the 1st 6 months, & he spends a lot of time taking it to be valeted or to the car wash. Then there's something annoying about it & he's back to pricing them up etc
Football - watching it on TV. I like this too.
Watches - reckons they're a good investment.
Work - at least this does genuinely generate an income

margotrose · 03/01/2024 15:22

Fishing, kayaking, mountain biking, painting, watching horror movies.
