Chinese! (And it's late😢).

onwardandupwards · 31/12/2023 19:42

Kebab with salad, cheesy chips and grilled halloumi, some bbq chicken wings for later!

cardibach · 31/12/2023 19:46

Fesenjoon - an Iranian pomegranate, walnut and chicken stew, with a fresh salad and syllabub for after.

Slow roasted shoulder of pork, red beans and rice, and a spinach salad.

I'll be cleaning the oven next week.

Tonight1 · 31/12/2023 19:54

Not the height of sophistication here, macaroni cheese and chips

MaggieFS · 31/12/2023 19:54

Leftover Turkey again. Hopefully it will be all gone tomorrow.

I can never get over people saying supper for their tea! I imagine it’s a regional thing?

Scottish here, for super maybe a bit of toast, for my tea we are having steak pie. A day early but our nerday tradition is a curry!

momager1 · 31/12/2023 19:55

heading over to my husband's best friends house. Father and Mother of our two god daughters. So the mum is cooking (she hates cooking lol) 3 different pastas, chicken, pork. I for once didn't have to cook, except our eldest god daughter (14 ) wants to have churros for dessert.. so I have made the dough, and a home made chocolate sauce and also caramel sauce. We will fry them up together there! Home by 10 at latest as we live on the beach and the two resorts right by our home are doing fireworks. Our dogs are terrified so we need to be home before that shit show starts

Poached eggs on toast at 5.30pm.in bed for 7pm with a bedspread picnic of crisps, shortbread and jelly babies with a side order of paracetamol and orange squash. Might go really bonkers with round 2, more paracetamol and some cough mixture, maybe a handful of Quality Street. Can anyone guess? We have come down with Covid today. Happy new year to us

TheDandyLion · 31/12/2023 19:59

Cauliflower cheese with a layer of parma ham on top and garlic dough balls.

Homemade pomona and calvados cocktails as a night cap.

momager1 · 31/12/2023 19:59

aww @Notthatcatagain I am sorry that you are under the weather, but to be honest.. other than the paracetamol , YOUR plan is nicer than mine. We would rather stay home and cuddle up in the bedroom with a picnic like yours

A sticky toffee pudding crown!! We didn’t fancy savoury so have it a miss and went straight to dessert!

TheSunIsShiningAndTheSkyIsBlue · 31/12/2023 20:06

Marmite on toast because it's what l fancied.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 31/12/2023 20:08

Takeaway pizza

SadCelticBunny · 31/12/2023 20:10

We have just finished Sunday Dinner as it is known hereabouts.
Rose Elliot's Red Wine and Mushroom En Croute (leftover from Christmas Day, Boxing Day)
Brussels Sprouts and Chestnuts, Roast Potatoes, Parsnips, Mash, Peas, Yorkshire Pudding and Gravy.

I am sitting on the sofa... wondering if I will ever eat again.

I hope everyone has the evening they have planned and I wish you a Happy New Year

Topsy44 · 31/12/2023 20:11

Steak, chips and salad, followed by some Lindt chocolates and a few other random Christmas chocolates. Now just thinking about whether to have some cheese and crackers with a Baileys to finish!

Sgtmajormummy · 31/12/2023 20:14

Traditional Italian NYE Lentils (look like tiny coins) and Cotecchino (gristle sausage). Happy New Year, everybody!

I made the lentils in the afternoon and they were so tasty (a portion lost its way from the pan to the plates)! I used sage, rosemary and leftover steamer water/turkey stock from Christmas.

Then tiramisu remains (DD made one to take to a party) and a Sachertorte made with Nigella’s Guinness chocolate cake. First toast of the evening.

That took a whole 30 minutes to eat. Now it’s an early dog walk before we batten the hatches because there will be fireworks at midnight. The explosion type, not the pretty ones.
😿😿

M&S Chinese meal for 2 as the DC are all out.

Looking forward to a quiet evening with a nice bottle of wine and a good book.

weegiemum · 31/12/2023 20:16

The rest of last nights Indian takeaway. And wine. Lots of wine!

Vinrouge4 · 31/12/2023 20:24

Most people say dinner. A few say supper. Up North they tend to say tea. We always said lunch for midday. Dinner was in the evening. Relatives had high tea. None is wrong - let and let live. Nobody has the right to put down someone else because they use different terminology.

This sounds insane. Can you recommend a recipe?

idontlikealdi · 31/12/2023 20:34

Dinner. Fajitas.

Supper. A glass of wine and cheese

MaggieFS · 31/12/2023 20:35

Why the need to correct the word supper to dinner? I never say supper. It's dinner or occasionally tea. But I'm perfectly able to answer a question about supper without needing to correct it. Do some people need to get over themselves?
