A selection of curries and naan from our local Indian deli, with their amazing vegetable samosas to start. No pudding because we'll all be too full 😁

lollipoprainbow · 31/12/2023 19:04

Honey sausages, dips, crisps, cheese and biscuits, washed down with Prosecco!

Georgyporky · 31/12/2023 19:04

Roast chicken etc for DINNER @ 20.00, accompanied by a bottle of Merlot.

I made a chicken dhansak with rice and chips (sorry) and homemade naan breads, which are mh favourite bit!

My husband says my curry is better than our best local takeaway, and I know it is shameless flattery but I fall for it every time!

Not sure what we will have for dessert - I have: shop bought mince pies with brandy butrer; a vanilla bundt my daughter made; a Christmas cake my cousin made. Might have a bit of each!

@Grimchmas I feel I need to preface this with saying that this recipe is from an M&S American Cookbook from 2005 - I seriously doubt it is anyway authentic!
But, it is nice (to us!) - we usually add in some spice into the recook part - presently a Tex-Mex spice mix, but a similar Mexican spice mix would be just as good. We put about a teaspoon in & use some of the cooking stock to stop it sticking/ add more flavour.

We don't have supper (a light snack before bed, where I come from) but we're having a BBQ for our evening meal (dinner/tea) because we're on holiday somewhere warm. Makes a nice change.

A beige buffet!

Same!

cariadlet · 31/12/2023 19:12

I'm in the middle of making aubergine curry and lentil dahl for tonight's dinner.

There are loads of leftover Christmas chocolates to pick at later.

@PamelaParis @BCBird if you can your evening meal tea, what do you call a cup of tea?
What is your morning meal and your middle of the day meal?

A cup of tea is still a cup of tea! Or a brew. It's fairly easy to tell from context which is being mentioned 😁

Midday meal is called dinner, evening meal is called tea. Supper is when you have a bit of toast or something just before bed!

Tempura prawns followed by very expensive rare breed rib eye from the local butcher, with fries, cauli cheese, peas and a caper and parsley sauce 😋

Ewoklady · 31/12/2023 19:30

We ate out so beef brisket and salad and potatoes
was delicious

mrsm43s · 31/12/2023 19:33

For dinner we are having:

Starter: Duck and orange pate with melba toast
Main: Rolled boned duck with plum and pork stuffing, roast pots, honey glazed roast carrots and parsnips, brussels.

Pudding: Any one of the left over Christmas desserts, or Vienetta for DH - nothing for me as I'm not a fan of sweet stuff.
Cheeseboard: Goats cheese, Stilton, Cornish Cruncher, Applewood smoked, Port Salut, Brie served with vine tomatoes, chutney and crackers and Port.

Plus a bottle of champagne and then red and/or white wine as desired.

Just DH and I, kids are older teenagers and are out partying!

(a fair chunk of this menu is about using up Christmas stuff that didn't get eaten!)

Iaspo · 31/12/2023 19:35

Oven party buffet bits - samosas, pigs in blankets, sticky chicken, along with cheese, crackers and crisps. For some reason DH has also done a salad???!!!

Washed down with a nice bottle of bubbles - present from a client. Had a shit few weeks so hoping 2024 brings better times…

fromhellsheartistabatthee · 31/12/2023 19:36
