A Gurkha curry (takeaway)

You lucky thing. I served on a camp with Gurkhas who had a restaurant. Hands down the best curries I have ever had.

OldTinHat · 31/12/2023 18:08

I've just had a packet of doritos and some hummus for my tea.

LaChienneDesFromages · 31/12/2023 18:08

I’ve cooked lasagne and aubergine parmigiana. Enough for 22.

It’s being driven to our friends’ barn which is only ten minutes away but their potholed farm track means it’s a high-risk activity. I plan to put the bakes in the middle of the passenger seat flanked by teen DD’s. I’ve just dropped DS12 down early as there’s no room for him in the car!

Just enjoyed crab meat with chopped tomatoes, cucumber and cress, mayonnaise and ryvita, rounded off with a cup of tea 😋

GreenSmithing · 31/12/2023 18:18

It was meant to be a roast chicken and trimmings, followed by rhubarb crumble, but I've been out in the cold and wet most of the day and wanted something quick. So instead it's been a baguette with bombay spiced cheese (better than it sounds) and the last of the Christmas chutney. I'm following it up with some olives and a glass of wine, and will cook the roast tomorrow.

DH & I are having a version of Hoppin' John - cooked a ham hock this afternoon, we'll shred it & recook it with rice, beans & spices after DC have gone to bed - they don't like it.

WellThisIsFun1 · 31/12/2023 18:32

Chinese takeaway, but starters only as they're the best bits....

Grewupinsheffield · 31/12/2023 18:32

Supper probably horlicks and a custard cream biscuit. For tea a chinese banquet.

Snackpocket · 31/12/2023 18:32

Was meant to be a full on roast beef dinner today but I’ve not felt well so we’ll have that tomorrow instead. So we are having chicken Kiev, crispy potatoes and tenderstem broccoli.

Bearbookagainandagain · 31/12/2023 18:34

Beef wellington with dauphinoise potatoes and green beans, and tarte tatin, and fizz!

TyrannasaurusJex · 31/12/2023 18:34

Cheese fondue, roasted new potatoes, broccoli, garlic sausage, crusty bread, lashings of Champagne... and the Taylor Swift concert film :)

whenindoubtgotothelibrary · 31/12/2023 18:35

Fish stew (my much quicker and cheaper version of a retro recipe from the River Cafe)
Lemon tart

Will light some candles and set the table properly for once.

delilabell · 31/12/2023 18:36

Roast beef dinner with all the trimmings. Can't wait!

Ooh do you have a recipe you could share please?

Charlie Bigham's cottage pie here (reduced and been in the freezer for a while) with carrots, sprouts, peas, green beans and gravy - using up various fresh and frozen veg as I'm fed up of having no room in the freezer!

Got some nosecco I might crack open later. Hoping to get the majority of the festive food done and out of the way by end of tomorrow for the new year's diet to be able to start in earnest!

Have a joint of beef defrosting for a new year's day roast tomorrow.

We have a Chinese fakeaway - king prawn fried rice with prawn toast and some other bits. Then everyone else had chocolate orange cheesecake and I had a raspberry and passion fruit donut that DS11 bought me when up in London with my DB earlier today - I had to share it so that everyone could have a taste though....
