Please save me from wasting £150 and having a huge appliance on my worktop for no reason by helping me to get the best out of it. What are your top tips and recipes?

Ordered one on a whim yesterday, DH is grumbling that we don't need it so I need to prove him wrong with amazing recipes.

i don’t
and no intention to

DustyLee123 · 31/12/2023 16:35

I just use mine instead of the oven for most things, I just reduce cooking time a bit.

NoTouch · 31/12/2023 16:35

I dont have one either, we dont have the worktop space to justify it when as far as I can see it is just a mini fan oven that in time, like most kitchen gadgets like it, will lose its non stickyness and be a bugger to clean.

You're not. We haven't got one either.

CharlottePimpernel · 31/12/2023 16:44

I haven't, and I won't be

ChocAuVin · 31/12/2023 16:45

You’ll love it OP! Halloumi and tofu are my absolute favourite things to do in it!

Floofydawg · 31/12/2023 16:45

I think I should have called my post something different, not getting what I wanted from this! 😂

Nope. Emperor's new clothes.

Crikeyalmighty · 31/12/2023 16:48

I don't have a big one, so dont cook full chickens in it etc - but my small one makes great sausages, fried potatoes , chips, meatballs, burgers, battered or breaded fish, chicken tempura etc and crisps up a microwaved jacket potato in 7 minutes beautifully

watcherintherye · 31/12/2023 16:48

I don’t have one. What made you cave in, op? I bet it was FOMO! I get that too, but my dislike of change usually wins out!

I don't have one either... yet. DD's got one and uses it every day and I've finally decided I want one too. I'm really looking forward to doing crispy tofu in it 😄

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/12/2023 16:51

I haven't got one, but I like the sound of that delicious tofu. And the halloumi.

JadziaD · 31/12/2023 17:03

It's not about making new/different recipes. It's about the convenience and speed of things you already make. It's sort of like the oven version of a microwave.

This is what I have used mine for in the last week:

To heat up a bunch of pastries to eat while unwrapping presents with family
To heat up pre-made canapé nibbles on Christmas Day while the main oven was being used for the Christmas dinner.
To reat McDonalds without it going soggy! Grin
To cook par-baked baguettes and rolls for lunch.
To make honey-roasted carrots

Things I use it for frequently:

roast onions and tomatoes for lunch with couscous and feta - 20 minutes vs an hour in the oven.
Baked feta - takes about 10 minutes.
To cook crumbed chicken breasts/fish fillets
Sausages - 12 minutes with almost no interference from me so easier than frying / grilling and quicker than roasting/baking.

It was definitely the FOMO and my brother banging on about how fantastic they are!

Which one did you get?

OhMehGoddess · 31/12/2023 17:10

We don't have one and no intention too.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 31/12/2023 17:12

You can have mine.

do you not have an oven?

genuine question because it just seems like using up counter space for something that an oven would do just as well… pastries would be all of 4 mins in the oven for example

JadziaD · 31/12/2023 17:14

Oh, remembered another one we haven't done for a while but will be doing next week probably - parma ham/bacon wrapped chicken breasts with cream cheese - a sort of cheat's chicken Kiev! Super handy and tasty and quick.

louderthan · 31/12/2023 17:14

I love mine. I've only got a small one as usually only cooking for myself but it's about ten times better than my shit oven.
Does the most amazingly crispy bacon, sausages, chicken wings etc.

BeaRF75 · 31/12/2023 17:14

I don't have one. I have no idea what they're supposed to do, and why I would need one.
So that's me out!
