Worst clothes fashion trends of the last 30 years?

What do you think the worst fashion trends have been over the last 30 years?

I was watching a BBC drama set in the early 2000s, and it reminded me that I once wore a tight pencil skirt with tight knee high boots. I think pencil skirts were the worst, largely because they were so uncomfortable.

Shell suits.
Big clumpy bootees style trainers with massive tongues hanging out.
The above worn with dresses.
Platform soled trainers.
Top to toe denim.
Ski pants.
Everything naff naff.
Tracksuit bottoms with poppers up the legs.
Harem pants.
Bodies with poppers which were a right faff to pop back together, so you ended up pulling it to one side to wee and wipe. Then you sat down and gave yourself a wedgie.
Low rise jeans showing your diamante adorned thong.

When I started secondary school circa 2007, most girls wore these stretchy white cap sleeve tops, with a brightly patterned vest top, skinny jeans, and mainly fake Ugg boots.

Then it seemed to move onto helly Hansen rain jackets with an elasticated waist, tracky bottoms and fake Ugg boots. The chav phase.

i don’t regret my choices but looking back it was fucking horrible. Tbh I don’t dress much better nowadays but it’s more important to be comfy now.

Cold shoulder tops
Large rib polo neck jumpers with no sleeves
Ripped jeans
Tiered broidery anglais knee length summer dresses
Ruched bum leggings - particularly in beige
Low rise jeans with or without a thong
Ponchos

Sadly not, utterly ubiquitous and a bit of a cliché now.

Tiered skirts and dresses, particularly the dresses that fall from your bust in a straight line

-basically anything that swamps the human frame and looks like a parachute.

I may be straying outside of the brief time wise, but does anyone remember the cream coloured jackets that came with a 'Burberry' scarf attached through loops on the shoulders.

As I came of age in the 90s, trousers and jeans which give you a massive ‘nappy arse’ are incomprehensible to me.

Peplum... why?

Also tiered skirts and dresses. Everyone looks awful in those, thin, fat, short, tall... fits nobody

Strapless tops with jeans. I used to wear these to the club in the 00’s. Wasn’t a good look.

Legwarmers especially in neon colours.
Batwing and raglan sleeves. I'm worried they're coming back 😰
Shoulder pads in everything even socks and dishtowels (I feel I'm only exaggerating slightly).
Tops with holes round the neckline, can't wear them in the sun.
Big pouffey sleeves on tops and dresses.

Pleather jackets and the matching hot pants shorts especially in pastel colours like lilac.

Anyone remember the banana shoes? Almost folded in half with a really elastic bit?

Hawaiian shirts and baggy jeans with coloured piping down the sides.

I still own half this stuff 😆

Could shoulder nightmares, and their cousin the one sleeved debacle.

I don’t like the beige/skin tone leggings look as it makes me have to blink on a regular basis.

Not fashion, but the big eyebrow trend was the worst I've seen in my 40 years. So many people will be mortified when they look back.

I always thought denim shorts with black tights was just someone being naive about what looked good or some sort of weird cultural trend. Cold shoulder tops are hideous.

• Clear plastic bra straps glistening in the sun;
• Ripped jeans;
• Extreme high waisted trousers;
• High back and/or high neck swimsuits;
• Dungarees.

Those plastic jelly shoes. In the summer when your feet inevitably got hot and sweaty you be slipping all around in them.

Also shoes, the fabric covered ballet flats with the gold bow.

Tartan everthing. I had a tartan suit and I was the business.

These go back further than 30 years though.
