I hope you all had a lovely Christmas & managed to relax a bit 🎄

I'm just brewing my first cuppa, after having a bit of a lie in. No-one else is up yet & the silence is lovely 😊

We have no real plans for today other than to potter & straighten up the house. Both bathrooms need cleaning & the rest looks a bit rough round the edges after the last week. The washing basket's full to bursting too 🙄

Hopefully that won't take long & I'll have time to start on some peg people for when we return to school. I've been working on a crochet sausage dog too so want to try and finish his body tonight.

Tea is a help yourself affair tonight - I'll cook the rest of the buffet type food at some point. Personally, I'm going for cheese, followed by mince pies and Bailey's cream 😋

What about all of you? 🙂

Ah sounds lovely and chilled! Enjoy! I'm going shopping for birthday balloons and banners etc as my daughter turns 5 on Tuesday. Going to have a big coffee first to gear up for it! Xxx

Good morning. I’ve no firm plans for today either really. Dh is at work and the rest of the dc are still asleep (including 10 year old niece who stayed last night) so it’s just me up at the moment.

I’ve just put the Tesco shop away and put the washer on. I need to clean the bathroom and hoover and mop downstairs but that’s it really. I might start putting a few Christmas decorations away but the big ones can stay until after New Year.

I do need to pop to Iceland at some point today to pick up some Swedish meatballs as dd19 has requested them for tea but they weren’t in stock at Tesco. So tea will be the meatballs with mash, veg and gravy.

I don’t think anyone has any plans for this evening either so will be a quiet one in front of the tv before bed.

MyLibrarywasdukedomlargeenough · 30/12/2023 09:49

I’m drinking tea in bed, off to a friends in two hours time and we are having a post Christmas meet at her house for a good old chinwag. Then I’m picking up my DS GF this afternoon and going for a walk with her and hot chocolate. He is working today and her parents are away, she was in a nasty car accident a couple of days before Christmas and she is now stressed about sorting out insurance and the aftermath. Back for Chinese take away for the four of us.

Thislittlekitten · 30/12/2023 09:51

Morning. Having a cup of tea before getting ready for work. On all weekend. Feel like I’ve worked so much this holiday hardly saw the kids. Next week too. Have New Year’s Day off at least so will try do something nice.

Quiet night planned tonight. Will have something nice for tea and watch a movie.

So far it’s only me and the cats awake!

cloudtree · 30/12/2023 09:54

I’m wallpapering the downstairs loo. Just psyching myself up to it!

BloatedBrenda · 30/12/2023 09:58

Morning, happy quiet days to us all.

I've been up since 6am and other than rewashing a shirt that has come out of the washer with stains that it didnt go in with 😤 (because my teen washed it with silk cufflinks in situ), all I have done is had two cups of coffee and read the papers.

Annoyingly missed a post office delivery. I was here, heard a faint knock and looked outside, nothing. Found a card in the letterbox ten minutes later (8:45 ish), goodness knows why they didn't ring the (very loud) bell.

Other than that, pottering about at home today, heavy rain forecast all day. I'm compiling the list of books I need for uni in Jan/Feb. Might clear out some old clothes, possibly take the recycling to the dump depending on rain, need to go in the loft for things for my holiday next week (hate going in the loft).

I might start reading Christmas Chronicles - a bit late I know but feel like I need that sort of comfort in my week this week. I did start listening to it on audible but lost track so will try to find my book.

Something out of the freezer for dinner, possibly steak and chips. I bought a bag of maris piper potatoes which I don't usually do. I might make oven chips with garlic and rosemary, yum.

SkylinePigeon · 30/12/2023 10:00

I'll be working all day. Booo

vodkaredbullgirl · 30/12/2023 10:01

Finally got a faint positive on covid test, feeling better. Got loads to do that I haven't been able to for a week. First day without a banging headache.

KissTheRains · 30/12/2023 10:04

I've just had coffee in bed.
I'm always in bed. Not because I have to be due to illness etc, but because I like it here..
We've a whole house I don't see because I like my little room and comfy bed.. i pop downstairs, let the dog out, make a nice coffee and then rush back to my little nest thats still warm with sleep heat.. 😊

I may be forced to get up soon... And that's when this 44 year old throws a tantrum like a 4.4year old .
"I don't wanna....." 😭

PinkGrapefruitSorbet · 30/12/2023 10:05

Quiet day here, like lots of you. Had breakfast and the washer is on. Need to do some ironing later, probably with a Christmas episode of the Repair Shop which is usually my ironing TV of choice. DS has a bit of homework and we want to watch last night's university challenge Christmas final together later. DH has gone to ikea to get some more cupboards to continue his garage sorting project which I am very much in favour of!

Risotto later, and a couple of episodes of the Crown this evening. We've also made our annual batch of egg nog, so will be having that throughout the day.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 30/12/2023 10:08

I've no idea!

I've two boys that could do with leaving the house but it's raining. And I can't be bothered.

RocketIceLollie · 30/12/2023 10:18

Popping into town in a bit. Need to take back a jacket my Dad got me for Christmas - it's a lovely jacket but think he's forgotten he's now got me a jacket for 3 of the last 4 Christmas and I really don't need another jacket hanging around 😆 also need to pick up some thank you cards, put some money for DS in his savings account, and cash in the netball club subs - will then pop straight down the leisure centre after to pay off the club invoices. DH is gonna go do a grocery top up shop at some point. DS is undecided who he will go off with at the moment. He hates shopping and being dragged around town.

MissMarplesNiece · 30/12/2023 10:22

I'm feeling very lazy, which isn't good because there's lots of housework to be done, and just like @lucysmam we have a washing basket filled to bursting.

DH will cook lunch. I think he's making a veggie korma today. Tea/supper will be cheese and crackers, although I think I've already eaten my weight in cheese over the last week.

Later I might go out for a walk, depending on the weather - it's looking very dreary here atm and I don't know if it will brighten up later.

RabbitsRock · 30/12/2023 10:25

Morning lucysmam & everyone. Hope you all had a good Christmas. Ours was quiet as just me & DH but very relaxing. We’re on our own today too as DD15 is with her girlfriend. Still in bed although I popped downstairs to take my tablets & make DH a cuppa. Need to do some washing & our room is desperate for a dust ( think that’s why I keep waking up with a croaky throat, bit of a cough & a blocked nose). Later we’re going to an out of town shopping centre as we both have jumpers to exchange at Next & I have an M & S voucher to spend. I had a really good Chenin Blanc from there before Christmas so will pick up some of that too. I haven’t christened tea yet. We’re gradually returning to “ normal” food. Quite fancy pizza. Might watch “ The Crown” tonight - I keep falling asleep, even though I enjoy it, so DH has watched one episode about 4 times!

lucysmam · 30/12/2023 10:29

Veggie korma sounds tasty @MissMarplesNiece. Does your dh follow a specific recipe?

@BloatedBrenda I started reading Christmas Chronicles but got sidetracked with Christmas things, and appointments, and stuff for work, and only got to the beginning of December 🙄 I've been reading Merry Midwinter this week - nice and soothing, along the same lines, but not dated entries.

Wash load one is in the machine, I've had a browse for birthday cake ideas for dd1, and made a coffee. Should really shift my arse into gear & get on with sorting the rest of the kitchen...

Going to take down the tree today. We bought a funky floor lamp for the dining room yesterday and the tree is right where it needs to go.

I put up a new shower fitting with rain head on it yesterday (has more pipes than our central heating), so need to fill the holes where the other was, so need silver grout, so trip to B&Q. Seems a waste, as it's only a couple of small holes, so a bag of grout seems mad. Trying to think of an alternative.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 30/12/2023 10:35

I'm going to start taking down all the Christmas stuff and tidying up. I'm just recovering from covid so won't be doing much else, need to get something out of the freezer for tea.

Teen dd going into work later.

Itsholly · 30/12/2023 10:36

I want to take the tree down and do the house cleaning and straightening up. Well I don't want to but I need to. Shouldn't take too long once I get started.

I haven't been in a shop since before Christmas so I may have a wander around a couple of shops, not sure why as there isn't really anything I need but not sure what else to do today.

Had a day in yesterday so feel like I should get out for something. Not feeling 100% so anything too active is out of the question.

Might cook an actual dinner today rather than picky bits and leftovers that we've been living on since Christmas.

Klcak · 30/12/2023 10:38

On the sofa, nasty dose of Covid
fortunately everyone off work and school

your day sounds lovely op

Mumdiva99 · 30/12/2023 10:38

I'm taking my husband for a scan. He went to the docs 3 days ago after a work medical found blood in his urine. They got him back next day for bloods and today (under 2 week path) for scan.
I am sure all will be fine. He's sure it won't. Trying not to worry the kids who want to know why daddy is going to the docs so much. They are old enough to understand but too young to worry unnecessarily.

After that the usual, washing, shopping, ironing, haircut.

Mumdiva99 · 30/12/2023 10:39

Get well soon @Klcak.

lucysmam · 30/12/2023 10:40

I hope your husband turns out to be fine @Mumdiva99 🤞

Currently sitting next to a pool soaking up the sun before the kids club closes for Lunch and will have to jump in the pool with them. We managed to get away and staying here for New Years. Hope all is well in the MN world.

Taytocrisps · 30/12/2023 10:43

Morning @lucysmam. I had no idea it was Saturday Grin. I've been lounging in bed all morning (had to get up and feed DCats but I went back to bed). I need to get dressed shortly because I'm meeting two friends for coffee at 11. I've to drop DD to meet her boyfriend later - maybe an hour away. Then I'll be lounging on the sofa and watching TV for the rest of the day. I recorded an Agatha Christie movie earlier in the week so think I'll get some goodies together and watch it. The oldies are the best.

JenniferGreenHat · 30/12/2023 10:44

Good morning @lucysmam - I knew you’d be the OP!!

I’ve tested positive for covid this morning, stopping lots of lovely things going ahead 😢 and before anyone suggests, no, I’m not happy to infect a load of people on holiday in a hotel, or go to a big NYE party. I’m disappointed, but trying to see the bigger picture.
