Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas & managed to relax a bit 🎄

I'm just brewing my first cuppa, after having a bit of a lie in. No-one else is up yet & the silence is lovely 😊

We have no real plans for today other than to potter & straighten up the house. Both bathrooms need cleaning & the rest looks a bit rough round the edges after the last week. The washing basket's full to bursting too 🙄

Hopefully that won't take long & I'll have time to start on some peg people for when we return to school. I've been working on a crochet sausage dog too so want to try and finish his body tonight.

Tea is a help yourself affair tonight - I'll cook the rest of the buffet type food at some point. Personally, I'm going for cheese, followed by mince pies and Bailey's cream 😋

What about all of you? 🙂

Afternoon @lucysmam, hope you had a lovely Christmas.
DD was riding at 8am so we were all up at silly o clock. She's now gone off to her Dads until Weds and I have a mountain of jobs to do, a skip to fill and I'm sitting on my bum with 2 cats squished onto my lap.
Think we're going to venture out to pick up a few bits and then home to put my pjs back on and slob out a bit more. The jobs can wait until tomorrow!

Mumdiva99 · 30/12/2023 12:20

Thank you so much for all your kind words. We were in and out all on time. The NHS can be amazing. Now up to 3 weeks to wait for results.

I hope all not feeling well or having covid or breast appointments get well soon or are given the all clear soon.

I’m pissed off. Had a stressful Christmas, dds gone home, was looking forward to doing something nice with dh today as he’s working tomorrow that wasn’t centred around Christmas or the relative that’s caused all the stress. Of course it’s pissing it down, freezing cold and not fit for man nor beast. And the kettle has broken down! Will take the tree down and change the bed. Happy day.

Hidingthegoodchocolate · 30/12/2023 12:26

Just about to take the tree down, have a good sweep round, and then I want to re-arrange the living room furniture. This will involve bringing an armchair down from my bedroom, which is NOT going to be popular with the cat as it’s her favourite snooze spot 😁

Later on we’re heading to a friend’s for board games and early supper.

Tonight I’ve got a scarf I want to finish knitting by the end of the year (ha!) which would leave me only one unfinished work in progress - so guilt-free to start some more for 2024!

DH got up with the DC this morning and made them breakfast. I got up about an hour later and spent the morning playing with them and their new toys. DH took them to the supermarket whilst I tidied up and made their lunch and I'm now lying with DS1 whilst he drifts off for his nap.

Once he's asleep, I'm going to have something to eat and a coffee before doing some stretching. My whole body feels tight and sore after this week's gym sessions.

Not going to venture out today as the weather is terrible so will probably make some biscuits with the DC, they love helping in the kitchen.

Once they've had their tea, been bathed and are in bed, DH and I will likely collapse on our respective sofas and tuck into a tub of quality street whilst watching whatever rubbish is on the TV.

Good morning/afternoon, lucysmam and all. Hope everyone had a good Christmas.

DH left me to sleep late today, luckily I haven't a great deal to do.
I am going to take a quantity of boxed up things to our store, do some recycling and then take a fold up foam chair bed round to my friend, who is having family to stay for the New Year celebrations.
Then put some champagne in the fridge, ready for NYE, which DH and I celebrate on our own, as we don't like all the crowds and noise.
Gods, we're old!

I plan to read and potter for the rest of the day.
DH has made the plainest and most ordinary stew imaginable, as an antidote to all the rich food.

OldTinHat · 30/12/2023 13:11

Afternoon all!

I do look forward to these posts. You sound very productive!

I've put some washing on and watched a film. Hoovered up the last few crackers and bit of cheese. Gearing myself up to leave the house for the first time since the 18th tomorrow, that will be odd.

Enjoy your Saturdays!

Good not morning anymore everyone, I hope our poorly posters feel better soon and our posters waiting on results get some good news.

We have gone away for new year, without the small people as well (they’re already driving their uncle bonkers 🤣).

This morning we went on a little cruise around some of the islands near Stockholm, we’re in Vaxholm at the minute waiting for our lunch to be served. My husband went to ask the staff something and now he appears to be missing, oh well, more food for me.

We’re going to watch Saltburn tonight to see if its as odd as people have suggested.

@Mumdiva99 hope it's all good

Hello @lucysmam love these threads!

@Mumdiva99 hope you're okay.

House very quiet today after we hosted Christmas drinks last night for neighbours, a few family members, & friends...unofficially DH's 60th birthday celebrations too. Spent yesterday prepping & DDog went for doggy sleepover. A few drop outs as lots of bugs around locally but we had such a lovely evening. DS age 17 invited 4 friends & they were all really engaged & helpful before sloping off to the pub at 9pm

Today has been operation cleanup - trips to bottle bank, cleaning floor, & generally restoring order (although DH & I loaded the dishwasher last night which was a great move).

DS very tired & working at 4pm but had a good lie in so should power through. I need to go & buy a birthday card for DH as it's his actual birthday tomorrow. Looking forward to a quiet night in front of the wood burner, hopefully reading my book. Will also walk DDog of course.
