Genuine question - can trans women experience cramps during their ‘time of the month’?

This is a genuine question as I am baffled.

I looking on Tik Tok last night (don’t judge me, I’m addicted lol)and I notice on my For You section there is often a trans women doing live Q&A’s. I stopped and watched for a while, out of curiosity tbh as DH has a couple of transgender people in his family and I do try to remain as ‘on the fence’ as possible with this subject.

However, this person on TT said something which does not make much sense to me.

They were saying they take HRT and this gives them ‘a time of the month’ when they experience a very emotional dip and have crying spells and feel low etc. I suppose that may make some sense due to the hormones they take but then they went on to say they also experience cramping during this time and started rubbing their lower tummy in the area where a woman’s uterus is located.
It was difficult to establish why this happens because anyone actually questioning this gets blocked and only those agreeing with them get to stay to ask questions! I appreciate they probably receive some very negative replies but blocking doesn’t answer the questions to people who really would like to know.

I genuinely can not understand where the cramps would originate in a person without female anatomy?

As someone who has been under the gynae department for 20+ years, has had to live their live around horrendous periods, has had endless hysteroscopies and uterine polyp removals, ovulation so painful I couldn’t sit properly, a failed uterine ablation, going through an awful perimenopause and now, at 50 only just discovering this is probably all due to the fact I actually have endometriosis and adenomyosis and have been gas lit for all this time having being told that some women just have awful periods etc, I more than understand where my cramps and pain come from. From my shit malfunctioning uterus and hormones which have never been my friend.

But where would a trans woman’s ‘time of the month’ cramps come from? What part of their body cramps due to the addition of female hormones? I’ve tried googling this but there’s very little. Can the hormones cramp the muscles or bowel in this area or something similar?

They aren’t delusional.

I can't even... 😂

Men who think that they are women and having periods are not delusional. Now I really have heard the lot.

Edited

There should be a photo of them in the dictionary next to 'delusional'.

There are trans women who receive the same / similar hormones so why wouldn’t the symptoms of said hormone be the same?

They would be on a regular dose of hormones, it is not like natural hormones as they would not fluctuate throughout the month like they would if they were female

Plus the symptoms wouldn't be the same as the biology is not the same I.e. it is physically impossible for someone to get cramps in an organ that they don't have. Come on, this is not that hard to grasp

I don’t think they’ve ever called it uterine cramps though have they? They aren’t delusional. They know they don’t have a uterus.

i imagine there’s absolutely a degree of psychosomatic symptoms too.

Oh yes they do. I've argued it with a few of them.

They even film each other experiencing 'cramps'.

They’ve actually said “my uterus is cramping”?

Marcus is a transexual, he's covered this (and one of the more irritating videos, with green mini skirt knob) in this YouTube video.

Like all humans, I'm absolutely sure green mini knob gets gut cramps every once in a while. Bad curry, needing a humongous fart or 💩, appendicitis, twisted bowel, too much beer, who knows.

But it's not period pain and the heat pad held to the lower abdomen whilst writhing in agony on a bed and tugging mini skirt down to hide "euphoria" kinda implies it IS, doesn't it.

Marcus is an interesting individual, worth looking at his YT. Facially and vocally I read him as a man, and then his hands make an appearance and its clear those are female hands.

I imagine that Marcus got some mighty abuse for pointing out the antics of those two very creepy guys. The writhing on the bed FFS. So fucking ridiculous. Twats.

Boomer55 · 01/01/2024 09:39

Regardless of what people identify as, it is impossible for biological men to have the same symptoms as biological women. They haven’t got the organs..

This nonsense is really getting out of hand. 🙄

Thanks for sharing that. I rather like Marcus.

Me too. Very likeable and that's partly down to the honesty.

Waitingfordoggo · 01/01/2024 11:29

I like Marcus too. There’s such a difference in the mindset between those who call themselves transsexual and those who use transgender. Buck Angel is similar to Marcus in this respect.

What do you think has caused the change in language use?

it would never get made today but the quote Wesley Snipes character in “Too Wong Foo” always felt quite accurate.

I don’t know that reference- is it a film?

As for transsexual vs transgender- well some, like Buck, have been trans for a very long time. I think transsexual was the standard word used at the time when Buck ‘came out’. But some of the newer/younger ones (like Marcus) seem to be deliberately choosing transsexual over transgender as a word to describe themselves. To me it implies that the person has gender dysphoria (certainly not all of those who call themselves transgender have this) and almost always seems to be accompanied by an understanding and acknowledgment of biological reality.

Here is the quote:

  • When a straight man puts on a dress and gets his sexual kicks, he is a transvestite. When a man is a woman trapped in a man's body and has a little operation, he is a transsexual. When a gay man has WAY too much fashion sense for one gender, he is a drag queen. And when a tired little Latin boy puts on a dress, he is simply a boy in a dress!

I think it interesting how there is more of a blanket term used now where I think many of the issues now arise.

Waitingfordoggo · 01/01/2024 12:08

I agree. ‘Transgender’ is far too broad a term that includes all of those different motivations, fetishes and mental health issues.

Young women (often autistic, often lesbian, often with existing MH issues) who identify as trans are a completely different thing to most of the middle aged male transitioners (often fetishists). It makes no sense to try and put them all into the same category. They are completely different and have different needs.

Such an interesting thread.

I wonder how this will all look in ten or twenty years?
We're in the thick of it all now so I think it's hard to fully understand what's genuinely going on but I often wonder how this time will look to future generations.

Baldieheid · 01/01/2024 12:35

I agree, transgender and that stupid stonewall umbrella covers far too broad a group, each with different and often competing needs.

I predict it will be viewed as a collective madness, similar to the Satanic Panic that began in the USA in the 1980s, only with more far-reaching consequences affecting the health and wellbeing of many thousands. Class-action law-suits to follow, etc.

No of course not

and they can not go through the menopause or ever become pregnant because they are male

Do you have a womb? No. Then you don't have menstrual cramps and a 'time of the month' - you lucky thing - although you may have psychosomatic symptoms to accompany your impression of how menstrual cramps might feel.

No female has ever flung themselves backwards on to a bed flinging their arms in the air, so even if they have psychosomatic symptoms, they are wrong.

Haven't RTFT but I assume they are just constipated from being on progesterone.
