Just being nosey.

We live pretty much equidistant between two.
Today, we went into Cambridge.

Which is the closest city to you?

Leicester, although like many other people who live in villages in the county, I rarely go into the city centre these days. It has declined horrendously over the last 20 years and it now feels like a third world city in places.

Completely agree;I go into the city centre very rarely and would rather go to one of the retail parks instead.

It's all take aways, pubs, pound shops and nail bars.

The nicest place worth visiting is James bistro on east Bond Street

It used to be Inverness, that's a wee jewel of a place to go in to.

Not any more. All the good shops have gone and it's all Poundlands, tartan tourist shops and pubs 😞

FlyingCherub · 27/12/2023 20:43

Gloucester.

The less said about it, the better.

We always go to Bath or Bristol even though they're further afield.

Hull, or to give it its full title, Kingston upon Hull.

I didn't know this was Hull's full name - how come it doesnt get called Kingston?

HouseInTheMiddle · 27/12/2023 20:45

St Davids, Pembrokeshire.
Swansea.
London.

Time split between three bases.

PilatesPeach · 27/12/2023 20:46

Guildford but I never go there

coffeerevelsrule · 27/12/2023 20:46

Also halfway between Nottingham and Derby but used to live in inner-city Nottingham so it never occurs to me to go to Derby really, and the few times I have it has disappointed. Nottingham has declined but I still prefer it.

Interesting question, I was going to say Birmingham but completely forgot Wolverhampton. And Stafford is the same distance apparently.
A couple more miles further away could be Chester, Stoke on Trent or Lichfield.

Seems the world is my lobster! 😆

Interesting @TulipTuesday, I was also going to say Birmingham and then remembered that Wolverhampton is a city, (and Stafford is around the same distance away in the other direction but isn’t a city).

Jagley · 27/12/2023 20:51

Gloucester, but I don't see it as a city so Bristol or Birmingham, actually maybe Worcester.

Alliolly · 27/12/2023 20:52

Birmingham... I live in it

BreakfastAtMilliways · 27/12/2023 20:58

Equidistant between Southampton and Winchester.

erikbloodaxe · 27/12/2023 20:58

@One2threego Chester was my first thought too but I'm minutes from St. Asaph.

Woahyeahyeahyeah · 27/12/2023 21:00
