Mad Friday. Is this Scottish?

I'm 41 and since I was a child mad Friday has been HUGE here.

Most people break up for Christmas, the pubs busiest night of the year by a mile.

I was a court solicitor for many years and tonight was the worst night to be duty. Tomorrow's custody court is a nightmare.

Is the last Friday before Christmas known as this everywhere. DH and nephews and friends all out tonight.

Was just thinking about it.

Yeah! It was the best day to work in pubs for decent tips. All the construction workers would come in with their Christmas bonuses, peeling £50 notes off a big wedge, keep the change love, have one for yourself!

Great fun.

No I’m originally from the north west and it’s called mad Friday the last Friday night before Christmas up there too. Carnage out there tonight, glad I’m snuggled up with my dog

We call it Fiel ( feel) Friday in Aberdeenshire. - Fiel as in daft , as everyone goes a bit mad with the drink. Although I think technically it was last week here -15th- as that was peak party night.

I’m from Edinburgh and don’t think I ever heard it called mad Friday. Someone on the radio was saying it’d be the 15th this year though as 22nd too close to Christmas.

Working in pubs in Edinburgh we called it black Friday.

Mad Friday here in Yorkshire- I stopped going out on purpose late 20's on this night. Carnage. My early 20'd DS went out for 'a couple' after work but was sensible enough to come home just after 6pm (unlike his mother at that age Xmas Blush)

Black Friday in Edinburgh as long as I’ve known it. Shifts about in space and time tho, I always thought of it as the biggest Christmas night out, so this would be too late as too close to Christmas itself.
