............ as well as using up odds and ends in the fridge and freezer before the big day?
We had a mish-mash tea with Jacket spuds, Salad and he had the last frikadellen while I had tuna mayo.
I have used the last of defrosted frozen pastry to use up the remaining half jar of mincemeat to make mince pies and a mince tart.
Will take my elderly neighbour some salad bits in tomorrow as she lives alone and it's not worth her buying a full lettuce, tomatoes etc etc as well as couple of mince pies.
We used the last of our frozen fish last night with chips and mushy peas last night and took a portion next door. Diced two peppers and threw the bags in the freezer before they went soft.
The sweets are out but we have only had a couple each, cracked open the full fat Fanta Orange (cos we like it!!) DH also cracked a few nuts this afternoon while watching a movie.
I had already hit the mulled wine last week - microwaves were made for this!! Right?!!
Now do I crack open the Baileys Cream to go with a mince pie???

Yes yes you do! Pannettone well and truly opened, nuts opened and mulled wine drunk! It's what's this week is for - I'd much rather enjoy it over a few weeks than overindulge in 2 days 😁

sprigatito · 22/12/2023 18:27

We have been eating mince pies all week, but nothing else overtly Christmassy until Christmas Eve. We're having homemade beef madras tonight, and Irish stew with soda bread tomorrow (my dad is staying, so I'm making his favourites)

Caspianberg · 22/12/2023 18:27

Made mince pies this afternoon. Had to sample one of course

I usually hold off until the big shop has taken place. That's tomorrow morning. After that, everything is fair game.

GigiAnnna · 22/12/2023 18:30

I'm using up bits from the freezer. I'm mainly done with my Chritmas food shop but I realised I haven't got a lot of " normal" food in, so I'll have to go shopping tomorrow and fill up the chest freezer. I'll make something homemade tomorrow, probably a curry. Then we normally have a takeaway on Christmas eve.

neleh87 · 22/12/2023 18:30

Yep, we just ate a bowl of roast chestnuts and will probably have pork pie later. Have been eating mince pies all month.

Witchbitch20 · 22/12/2023 18:31

Just had a foot long pig in blanket.

DamsonDress · 22/12/2023 18:34

We've been eating Christmas stuff since late October. 😳

Always hold off on the Christmas cake though. Only started that yesterday.

ChanelNo19EDT · 22/12/2023 18:34

Yes, crisps, wine, chocolates, mince pies...had two today, one with cream! But im going to go on a mini diet and lose 3 kilos after Xmas. Starting 28th Dec

tokesqueen · 22/12/2023 18:35

The tub of Christmas chocs were opened after work tonight. No more work until second of Jan. Christmas has officially begun.
Have been at the mince pies for weeks.

Mistymornin · 22/12/2023 18:36

Bread sauce! Why don't I make it throughout the year to have with a roast 😕

BlueberryVelvet · 22/12/2023 18:37

I had my first Mozart ball tonight and DD cracked open her Toblerone.

DH has more restraint.

DRS1970 · 22/12/2023 18:38

Mince pies and quality street this week. 🙄

Roselilly36 · 22/12/2023 18:39

Yes, life is too short to wait!

Thmssngvwlsrnd · 22/12/2023 18:39

Yes - finished one tub of Celebrations already. I say go for it, we could all be dead tomorrow (Merry Christmas!)

Bertiesmum3 · 22/12/2023 18:40

BiggerBadderBrainfogged · 22/12/2023 18:41

The Christmas switch was flicked on tonight.

CrispsandCheeseSandwich · 22/12/2023 18:41

I had my first mince pie in mid-November.

Sprogonthetyne · 22/12/2023 18:41

Officially no, but 1/4 of a quality street tin and a block of cheese have disappeared.

wildwestpioneer · 22/12/2023 18:42

We've just used curly fries, pork pie and coleslaw - we only tend to have this at Xmas so yes, we've started. The first guest arrives tomorrow Grin

JamieKnows · 22/12/2023 18:44

Started 1st dec! I've done 2 tubs of twiglets, a truckle of black bomber and Red Devil, a bottle of baileys and a tub of celebrations. Having a curry tonight though, don't want to overdo it Wink

Hazey19 · 22/12/2023 18:44

Oooh I like this thread. Yes I cleaned the fridge out today ready for the big shop being delivered tonight. We had a stir fry with the odds and sods for tea and we ve been eating the chocolates and drinking the baileys for weeks!

ANeurodiverseUniverse · 22/12/2023 18:45

Yep. Started it all on the weekend just gone as had family visiting. We had a full on Xmas Dinner with all the usual alcoholic drinks. Chocs, nuts, desserts. And even though they left on Monday evening, it's continued!

This is now my xmas holidays, so I'm gonna bloody well enjoy it.

I'll be a fat cow and hating myself for being so gluttonous by January...but I'll deal with that when it comes!

DisforDarkChocolate · 22/12/2023 18:46

The last three weeks have been eating random crap.

Now we are shuffling foods around the freezer and fridge and worrying where the meat will go tomorrow.

Blazingunicorns · 22/12/2023 18:46

No! Not until Xmas eve for us!
