Is anyone eating Xmas stuff already............

............ as well as using up odds and ends in the fridge and freezer before the big day?
We had a mish-mash tea with Jacket spuds, Salad and he had the last frikadellen while I had tuna mayo.
I have used the last of defrosted frozen pastry to use up the remaining half jar of mincemeat to make mince pies and a mince tart.
Will take my elderly neighbour some salad bits in tomorrow as she lives alone and it's not worth her buying a full lettuce, tomatoes etc etc as well as couple of mince pies.
We used the last of our frozen fish last night with chips and mushy peas last night and took a portion next door. Diced two peppers and threw the bags in the freezer before they went soft.
The sweets are out but we have only had a couple each, cracked open the full fat Fanta Orange (cos we like it!!) DH also cracked a few nuts this afternoon while watching a movie.
I had already hit the mulled wine last week - microwaves were made for this!! Right?!!
Now do I crack open the Baileys Cream to go with a mince pie???

Drinking Advocaat, and eating Toblerone so yep! Christmas is go go go!

mrsfollowill · 22/12/2023 18:54

We've all finished work in this house til 2024 today. DS has just got in after having a few drinks with his colleagues after leaving work at 3 (he is early 20's and still lives at home for now while he saves up) DH was home by lunchtime.
Pizzas just ordered- I cracked the gin open at 5.30pm after finishing work (WFH)
Started on the Christmas chocolates last weekend- the pile of snacks in the kitchen are now open (crisps/nuts/pretzels)
The Christmas cheese is staying sealed until after it's been put out after Christmas dinner but then will a free for all.
Got a busy day tomorrow collecting turkey from butchers and final 'fresh' food delivery (I've been buying all the non perishables a couple a week since October ish)
Also need a good clean of the house and then we will put the tree up Xmas Smile
All looking forward to 10 days off work and doing very little!

I bet no one’s remembered mince pies and bunettone in our house already.
Cranberry sauce is open. DH and DD ate festive smoked salmon last weekend. I nearly finished chocolates (hope to get some for Xmas) and just opened the last pack of festive biscuits.
Of course festive meat is still ok but it’s just because I haven’t cooked it yet, no one is interested in raw turkey however exciting it sounds. The same applies to potatoes, carrot, parsnip and onions - they are safe.
oh and initial Christmas bottle of wine has gone during Strictly semi final….

The Amarula is open in our house which means it’s officially Christmas. I have also indulged in some white chocolate cream liqueur in my coffee today (possibly three coffees….) Also had a homemade mince pie every day this week

Roundaboot · 22/12/2023 18:56

Hell yeah! DP's mum always does us a hamper at Christmas (actually just a large bag filled with goodies!) We got that last week and have made a good dent in it already. It's too hard to get through everything if you wait until Christmas Eve/Day!

Decafflatteplease · 22/12/2023 18:56

Everyone has finally finally finished school and work so it's a free for all on the Christmas chocolates/nuts/ dates. Once school and work are out the Christmas stuff is opened here!

Bobbybobbins · 22/12/2023 18:57

Yes definitely! I find I enjoy it all more if it's spread out rather than all in a couple of days. I prefer the week before to the week after too.

MadCatLady27 · 22/12/2023 19:05

I ate a tube of pringles throughout Sunday and Monday, replaced it in the shop this week

Have had some nuts and the bland cheddar type things Asda subbed DHs twiglets with

Usually wait til Xmas eve but it's fair game as of today!

Skethylita · 22/12/2023 19:12

The salmon will be opened tomorrow for salmon on crispbread breakfasts for the next 3 days.

Work colleagues have provided enough drinks that I won't need to crack open the whiskey yet.

My family has been all over the German gingerbread hearts we had in. We're on our last packet, but it won't need replacing.

BogRollBOGOF · 22/12/2023 19:23

Mince pies, leibkuchen and stollen are fair game from 1st December. My cheese intake has already increased.

Vicliz24 · 22/12/2023 19:25

The first Baileys was had on the first weekend of December. Thank goodness for the supermarkets Baileys price war !

AllAroundMyCat · 22/12/2023 19:26

Most nibbles have already gone and we're having (???!!!)to do an alcohol run tomorrow as well as salad and more nibbles.

Merry Christmas to you all!

Tisfortired · 22/12/2023 19:26

Yes! We barely have any Christmas food left! I’m whizzing round Sainsbury’s tomorrow for a top up :D

therealcookiemonster · 22/12/2023 19:41

of course not. I am just editing the food so there is just the right amount of food available on Xmas day.

Justmuddlingalong · 22/12/2023 19:46

Just scoffed a large tube of orange smarties. Quality control and all that.

They passed.

mamaduckbone · 22/12/2023 19:46

We started on the twiglets last night, nuts and quality street tonight. Ds2 has opened the Coke, which means we'll need another bottle. Quite restrained for us but we've all been at work/school until today.
Yes also to finishing off bits and pieces - we've had jerk chicken from the depths of the freezer, and jacket potatoes with whatever could be scavenged as meals this week.

K4tM · 22/12/2023 19:48

Finished school Tuesday, Christmas rules from Wednesday (ie it’s ok to have chocolate for breakfast …)

tinytemper66 · 22/12/2023 19:55

Hell yes. Broke up today so on the gin and opened some crisps...

ZiggyZowie · 22/12/2023 19:59

I've polished off two boxes Lindor chocolates and a giant Toblerone meant for Christmas

Runoutofinkagain · 22/12/2023 19:59

Not yet other than some fizzy juice. I seem to have spent an awful lot on food and not have much to show for it!

MattDamon · 22/12/2023 20:01

Crisps and nuts made it to the 22nd. Probably a record in our house.

Lilithlogic · 22/12/2023 20:02

I've been eating out of date hotel chocolats and in date mince pies

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 22/12/2023 20:03

I've finished a box of limited edition white chocolate toffifees. Didn't touch the sides.

itsgoingtobeabumpyride · 22/12/2023 20:13

I always make DD and her DH a hamper, she's already well into it, she's pregnant, that's her excuse and she's sticking to it!
Me otoh I don't have any Xmas food in or food for that matter, I've just had toast for dinner.
Was going to go to the supermarket but been reading online that the supermarkets are busy so I can't be arsed.

Allmarbleslost · 22/12/2023 20:14

No but I'm drinking the Christmas stuff. Hic.
