What has been your favourite gift you've ever received for Christmas?

I still remember the joy of receiving a pair of fur lined boots at aged 8, and a Timex watch the following year.

What's yours?

Mine would be the Heart Family barbie dolls (dad & son & mum & daughter). I absolutely loved playing with the kids from the set especially.
Even if I didn't get a mr frosty 😂

Braveheart35 · 22/12/2023 17:48

Definitely baby alive. You fed it mush that came as powder packs and it pooed it out. I felt SO important announcing the baby needed a nappy change.

A la carte kitchen :)

She-ra castle probably was around 5 or 6 but I was over the moon and all my friends wanted to spend time at mine that Xmas.

MeinKraft · 22/12/2023 17:52

Super Nintendo! I would have been just turning 7. Many happy hours spend playing Super Mario World.

caringcarer · 22/12/2023 17:53

My wonderful cat. 😻

TurkeyDinosaur · 22/12/2023 17:53

@Fannyfiggs that paints quite a picture! Am jealous😂

@ToothFairy2023 my sister loved her spirograph! And congratulations on your Christmas baby. How does he feel about having his birthday on Christmas day?

@gotomomo Congratulations to you!
🥳🍾🥂
Can we see? 😄

A big pink Fisher Price dolls house, a Barbie typewriter or the Sims 2 (I remember the anticipation of slowly loading up all 4 discs to our family computer while I sat and read through the manual!)

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 22/12/2023 17:56

As a child - a Homepride baking set

As an adult - skis

My second hand dansette record player. And my first record. Black night by deep purple. Probably 1970 or so

Davros · 22/12/2023 18:11

A Galt post office in the 60s.
Goodbye Yellow brick Road album in 1973. The cover was so amazing, it was a double and contained the words to all the songs

Comethefuckonbridget1 · 22/12/2023 18:16

I got a mr frosty one year and thought I was the bees knees!

but the one that really sticks out to me from childhood was my grandad ‘finding’ one last presents behind the sideboard that our tiny Christmas tree stood on, pulling out a really big (to me!) box and presenting it to me with a massive grin. It was a keyboard, I was over the moon as I really wanted to learn how to play, and it’s a core memory of my grandad who is no longer with us. I don’t know even if it was from him or my parents!

i learned a bit of keyboard but didn’t pursue it. Shame really as I was SO happy ❤️

ANightmareBeforeChristmas · 22/12/2023 18:18

A train set when I was four.

I don't think I have ever received a standout present as an adult.

Riverlee · 22/12/2023 18:20

Tiny Tears

Rainbowshit · 22/12/2023 18:22

Ice skates. I was soo excited!

SilkBonnet · 22/12/2023 18:32

A karaoke machine with 2 tape decks and a proper microphone 🤩 I was about 8 and in over 30 years, no other present has given me such joy!

Rockfordpeach · 22/12/2023 18:36

Barbie dream house, I loved that thing

As an adult, my DP bought me my first car (at the age of 31, I learnt to drive late). Was a total surprise and it was amazing

LakeTiticaca · 22/12/2023 18:42

A spirograph. Hours and hours of fun creating different designs. Then I ran out of paper and my mum wouldn't buy anymore 😡😡

AuntyMabelandPippin · 22/12/2023 18:44

I got a radio/cassette player for my 15th birthday. It meant I could tape the charts every week. Fantastic present.

Tootytoot78 · 22/12/2023 18:49

A toy baking set, unfortunately it didn't inspire me in the least as I loathe cooking and baking.
In 1978 the best gift I had was my DH, we married on Christmas Eve eve.

LunchBoxPolice · 22/12/2023 18:50

The dolls house that my Dad made for me, I spent so many hours playing with it over the years. I still have some of the furniture and now I get to watch my own DD playing with it in her dolls house 😊

Hatty65 · 22/12/2023 17:33

A Holly Hobbie rag doll. I think it was my 'obsessed with Little House on the Prairie' stage..

Me too

Bamboozles · 22/12/2023 19:09

Two bottles of nail varnish at age 14, one pink and one orange. This was the 70s, I changed it every few hours 🤣

Borris · 22/12/2023 19:13

My little pony dream castle. Shared with my sister and we’d never had such a big gift before. I’m sure my parents must have really saved up for it

LadyEloise1 · 22/12/2023 19:20

MysweetAudrina · 22/12/2023 17:28

Probably my new born baby doll. Me and my best friend who lived across the road got one. We both called the Deirdre. Our Mams had put new born baby outfits in with them and e we spent that Christmas feeding, walking and changing them. My friend sadly died very young but we were the best Mammies to those dolls.

🥰🥲
