I'm loving reading these.

Ours is vegetarian except I'll have turkey. Then it's
Nut roast
Roasties
Roast parsnips and carrots
Roasted broccoli
Sprouts, maybe roasted
Macaroni cheese
Cauliflower cheese
Gravy

Our christmas eve meal is a risotto with green veg inc samphire, all pan fried with some lemon. I wanted to do a nice cocktail but ingredients are so expensive.

Our Christmas day breakfast is going to be something easy and light, good OJ, lots of fresh fruit and porrige and toppings.

For boxing day is going to be left overs with dauphinoise potatoes and spinach and peas added to the veg.

Gingerbeerfear · 20/12/2023 21:02

Prawn cocktail - big ones and little ones, lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and apple - squeeze of lemon.

highland beef roast , beef dripping Yorkshire puds, sprouts, carrots, cauliflower cheese, petit pois, pigs in blankets and gravy.

cheese crackers and with luck a decent profiterole

Catsmere · 20/12/2023 21:06

Something from the supermarket - the cook isn't here on Christmas Day and the reheated turkey and ham on offer is usually fairly dire. I'll be alone (Mum's in hospital) so can please myself.

Scampuss · 20/12/2023 21:07

Chicken
Stuffing
Pigs in blankets
Yorkshire puds
Roast potatoes
Roast parsnips
Roast carrots
Sprouts
Carrot and swede mash
Red cabbage
Cranberry sauce
Gravy

Trifle and/or Christmas cake later for afters

All wheat/gluten free

Turkey, homemade stuffing, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, buttered carrots, mashed swede, sprouts, peas gravy and homemade cranberry sauce.

Almost the same as yours, no swedes or sprouts though.

Added broccoli and cauliflower.

Oldraver · 20/12/2023 22:20

Stuffed duck (I now do it myself as don't like the supermarket options)
Beef fillet
Roast potatos
Stuffing balls (different from duck)
Pigs in blankets
Roast carrots and parsnips
Creamed parsnips
Dauphinois potato
Maybe red cabbage

Oldraver · 20/12/2023 22:21

Forgot cranberry sauce and gravy

Good to see you are also all wise to the joy of skirlie, it's just not Christmas dinner without it!

IHS · 20/12/2023 22:47

I'm in and out all day doing pet care visits so won't have time for Christmas dinner and I don't like reheated food. I'll just have a chicken, cranberry and crisp sandwich and some trifle afterwards 😋

christmaspaws · 20/12/2023 23:13

Haven't decided yet! Home alone and choices are

Cheese bake (Aldi) with part baked bread, prosciutto, pickles etc
Pizza
Curry

I don’t want to derail the thread but do have a recipe for the en croute? Sounds magic.
