Hand made soap, nice hand cream, bottle of port.

PiggieWig · 19/12/2023 06:17

Do you know anything about the recipient? You could get a nice bottle of wine for that amount, but not everyone would appreciate it. Or a scarf from Tesco/Sainsbury’s.
Scented candle and/or picture frame.

justalittlesnoel · 19/12/2023 06:17

Box of nice chocolates / biscuits, fancy tea bags etc. Pretty inoffensive and safe would be the best bet?

Waitrose might be your best bet? Something from the festive range might be nice. Anything that's basically a snack to enjoy! Nothing alcoholic for me, although if you know them well that could work.

Something I wouldn't normally get for myself... would probably need to be something luxury so Waitrose or Tesco as Aldi is all more reasonable. Either posh chocolates/luxury toiletries? Magazine? Could do it as an hour for yourself with a mug of hot chocolate/tea and a magazine/book?

marshmallowfinder · 19/12/2023 06:18

£15 Waitrose voucher.

Moredarkchocolateplease · 19/12/2023 06:18

Tesco cremant. It's made by a very reputable champagne house.

Or the aldi monsigny champagne which is very decent.

Philandbill · 19/12/2023 06:19

Gloves and scarf (Tesco). Chocolate from Waitrose or other treat food. Not wine and not toiletries.

Moredarkchocolateplease · 19/12/2023 06:19

Or 6 bars of Waitrose 90% chocolate.

Would not use any of the 'Christmas' gifts from any of the shops.

And don't eat milk chocolate.

SadlyACupOfTeaDoesNotSolveEverything · 19/12/2023 06:20

Bottle of port

PheobeBebe · 19/12/2023 06:21

A new scarf

BoohooWoohoo · 19/12/2023 06:21

Gift card - Costa or Amazon would be great.
lottery tickets

Ballyhoobird · 19/12/2023 06:24

I once got a massive jar of cherries in some sort of alcohol as a secret santa. They were awesome, would never have justified buying them for myself but they were a great treat with ice cream and lasted ages (the jar really was massive).

kimchio · 19/12/2023 06:24

Gift card

MikeWozniaksMohawk · 19/12/2023 06:26

The biggest box of lindor your budget will buy, but that’s just me. Agree a Costa gift card would be a good last minute gift.

WhatAMessAgain123 · 19/12/2023 06:39

Waitrose gift card then I could spend it in John Lewis. Or a £10 bottle of Prosecco and a toblerone.

Fairylightfurore · 19/12/2023 06:45

Back scratcher!

DelightfulDoris · 19/12/2023 06:49

Without thinking too much into it..
Some mint chocolates, a savoury snack item (Kettle crisps, cheese twists or something) a pair of thick bed socks and a 4 pack of Appletizer cans 😄

Missingmyusername · 19/12/2023 06:52

Something to make me smile. Secret santas are meant to be funny aren’t they? Voucher is boring but the most useful I guess. But you may as well all swap vouchers or cash…

CharlottePimpernel · 19/12/2023 06:54

Fanciest chocolate available for the money.

Needmorelego · 19/12/2023 06:55

Paperback book, chocolate Santa and a tree decoration.
(or Lego 😂)

Letterbix · 19/12/2023 06:58

Hat/scarf/gloves combo

babbaganoush · 19/12/2023 06:59

£10 costa/nero voucher and a Lindt chocolate Santa

FloweringNumbat · 19/12/2023 07:00

There is a woman at my work that always gets given cheese.

Scarletttulips · 19/12/2023 07:00

Nothing like wine and chocolates to say it was lay minuet!!

Papillon23 · 19/12/2023 07:02

Waitrose do excellent port and sherry.

Alternatively/in addition the Waitrose number one milk chocolate with caramelised nuts is insanely good.

Waitrose near me also do Neal's yard stuff which is pretty nice.

I think my actual preference would be a bottle of their own brand amontillado (dry) or pale cream sherry (sweet) plus a couple of bars of the above chocolate.

Alternatively if they're foody Belazu balsamic vinegar is outrageously expensive (so a really treat ) but less than £15 and insanely good. Same for their sun-dried tomato paste and their olive oil and basically anything they sell.
