Chocolate and caramel shouldn't be "salted". A little bit of salt in the latter may be ok but it should be a subtle seasoning not a dominant flavour.

Agree that NYE is rubbish. Got asked what my plans are. I don't have plans. I will be in my pyjamas, drinking home measures of rum and watching TV before having a little weep during the fireworks and then going to bed.

God yes on the last week of school should be optional! Mine did nothing last week (!) and more of the same this week. They are bored and desperate to stay home (one watched the first fifty minutes of the film Nativity in three of her five free lessons today) she watched those same fifty minutes in four "lessons" last week. It's a waste of their time. Mind numbing and pointless. But there's an attendance incentive and they will send the welfare officers round of I keep them home. 🤦‍♀️

Christmas imo is a season and very much not a day. If it were one day there'd be no point.

I work in school and while we try to do our usual core subjects, the children have mentally checked out and very little work is getting done. In the last week of term we're not starting anything new and we're basically just wrapping up the current topics ready to start new ones in January. This week we're on mornings only too as the afternoons are being taken up by class parties, carol service, whole school film in the hall, Santa visit, extended golden time, and the end of term awards assembly. Nothing essential is going on and some children would actually benefit from it being optional.

Street food - so pointless. If I'm going to spend that much on something then I'm going to bloody well sit down and enjoy it.

I don't like eating outside in the street , my parents hated seeing people do this and also loathed fast food restaurants because of the waste. A take away should be eaten at home
