It’s M&S cinnamon buns right?

My favourite savoury option is the Lidl vegetable pizza.

What’s your nomination?

Morrison's spelt loaf.

Whattheduck · 16/12/2023 18:16

Morrisons Almond Croissant warm with Raspberry Jam delicious

Maple pecan plait.

It doesn’t matter where from. Last ones were from Lidl and Morrisons.

Food of the Gods @ArcaneWireless

What the heck’s an empire biscuit??

For me it’s always a soft pretzel. Tescos are the worst - don’t bother. Lidl and M&S joint top.

Empire biscuit is like 2 pieces of shortbread, ( fairly thin shortbread) sandwiched together with jam ( usually strawberry), iced with simple sugar icing and topped with a jelly tot. Very Scottish.

My best bakery buy is an M&S fresh cheese loaf. Too easy to eat, but treated toasted and topped with a poached egg.

Waitrose almond croissants.

Agreed.

The custard Danish thing from M&S, the square one with berries.

M&S pain au raisin

One time I went into Sainsburys and they had some kind of lemon Danish or lemon curd Danish. I've never seen it since and am beginning to believe I dreamt it.

I work in Sains bakery and can confirm we do a lemon meringue danish.

AlltheFs · 16/12/2023 18:21

Tesco olive bread

Penguinsandpuffins · 16/12/2023 18:24

M&S lemon curd muffin!

newtlover · 16/12/2023 18:28

I notice no one has nominated an Aldi item

their bakery is VERY disappointing which is a shame because they are only round the corner from me

in particular, their sourdough crumpets are awful

why is it all so bad when other supermarkets have nice stuff???

MILTOBE · 16/12/2023 18:30

M&S:

Apricot Danish
Berry Danish
Olive ciabatta

CanapeJane · 16/12/2023 18:37

I notice no one has nominated an Aldi item

I was thinking more of fresh bakeries but any bakery item is acceptable. Aldi don’t have a fresh bakery but I love their cinnamon buns, their salted caramel millionaires shortcake and the little butterfly cakes that they sell.

Lidl pizza is dreadful! M&S cranberry fresh bread for me.

BlowDryRat · 16/12/2023 18:42

Sweet: Waitrose cherry bear claw
Savoury: Lidl pretzel

NellyWest · 16/12/2023 18:43

Lidl Brownies. GOAT

BlowDryRat · 16/12/2023 18:43

Although actually, the Sainsbury's kalamata loaf is also delicious.

User2856948 · 16/12/2023 18:45

M&S Victoria Muffin

NellyWest · 16/12/2023 18:45

Also technically not bakery but the frozen garlic bread made from M&S leftovers is insane.

Alighttouchonthetiller · 16/12/2023 18:47

Whilst I'm here, does anyone know where I can get a decent cream doughnut? My Sainsburys have stopped doing fresh ones and it's all pre-packaged ones in Marks and Spencer. I want a freshly made doughnut - brown and slightly crispy with a good dusting of sugar and respectably doughy interior. A fresh whipped cream filling with a little stripe of jam running down the middle. I don't want it in any packaging other than the flimsy cardboard box the assistant will carefully place it in, using tongs, when I select the one I want.

Do Curtis's still do them?

DilemmaWithTwins · 16/12/2023 18:48

M&S cookies

Thesearmsofmine · 16/12/2023 18:59

I like an M&S yum nut and also their cheese and onion twist.,
I also lien the Asda chocolate chip muffins(not double chocolate) the ones that come in a pack of 6, the packs of 4 aren’t the same.

I used to like Lidl bakery but I got put off when I’ve seen people fingering the goods on more than one occasion.

M&S lemon curd muffin!

Ooh I was about to say the M&S chocolate muffin, but I haven’t tried these yet. Must go and get one this week when I take my mum for her Christmas shop!

Lovemusic82 · 16/12/2023 19:13

Lidl Portuguese tart
Lidl veg pizza

TBH, Lidl just has the best bakery.

Dilemmaville · 16/12/2023 19:15

M&S are doing a Christmas sourdough, it is delicious. DH & I ate whole loaf in one sitting!

bleurghhh4 · 16/12/2023 19:19

Yes to Lidl choc hazelnut doughnut - also their sourdough loaves are great. I often find Tesco the most disappointing

Girasoli · 16/12/2023 19:45

DS1 would nominate Sainsburies croissants. The Asda ones are not crispy enough apparently.
