I need to built up some energy to properly sort my house. It's no where near as bad as it was. But it's not great either its also a bit grubby , I have about 3/4 loads of washing. That I must do . I Need to clean all the skirting boars ,door frames, doors. Also banister spindles. Feels alot as i have 3 floors. Hoover everywhere really want to get it done as it's the last weekend semi child free until after Xmas.

First load in, then start at the top.

(I should really take my own advice!)

Vettrianofan · 16/12/2023 09:46

I'm about to start cleaning up now too...

Thisisnotmyname2022 · 16/12/2023 09:47

I enjoy your posts at the weekend. You can do this.

Bucket of warm soapy water and a cloth, start at the top and work down. A flash spray bottle for some hard to remove marks. You’re going for an improvement not perfection.

My house feels a bit grubby too and needs a proper clean and sort out before Christmas. Just getting over months of morning sickness and finally feel like I can get things done.

Tonight1 · 16/12/2023 09:51

Start it slowly. I've got into a complete muddle as well with everything going on. I've got a wash on at the moment and cleaned downstairs this morning but bedroom is a shittip so that's the next thing.

Be easy on yourself and give it a few days to sort it out.

Wanttobekind · 16/12/2023 09:52

Ours is so bad we have decided to move instead of trying to fix it 🤣

FrancisSeaton · 16/12/2023 09:56

I know how you feel. How do the walls doors etc get grubby so easily? It drives me mental. Sugar soap is your friend . Also those elbow grease magic erasers are amazing

I'd love to have that as a choice 😂

That’s funny! Made me laugh as I face our washing.

Thecomfortador · 16/12/2023 10:02

I'm trying to go with small steps that add up... Except I think the steps are too small and meanwhile another meal happens, another load of clothes to wash...

Tonight1 · 16/12/2023 10:08

I’m doing the pre-Christmas deep clean, started in my bathroom which was surprisingly mucky given I clean it constantly but getting the bits of soap scum out of the shower corners is very satisfying except now the rest looks even worse in comparison. Worked out I have a free Monday I didn’t expect, so don’t need to finish it all over the weekend.

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 16/12/2023 10:09

Washing in and start cleaning at the top. Tell yourself you'll work for 30/45 minutes and have a break. Put your favourite music on or a good podcast takes your mind off the drudge.

1 load done just hate hanging it. Have to though or kids have no uniform .

Same here. Kitchen, bathrooms. Started a clothes clearout that’s turned into a clothes mountain. Need to sort that & the laundry. In bed right now with tea & toast, which is lovely as I’ve been so unwell & working hard this week.

Good news is though, that most of my Christmas shopping is done. We’re going to see Santa tomorrow. I’m working all of next week, but I should be able to get a fair bit done today. I’m breaking it all down in my mind now, so it’s not too much!

readymealeater · 16/12/2023 10:17

This is the type of cleaning I struggle with. All those bits I can usually ignore and when I finally notice the grubbiness, well it's just overwhelming about where to start.

I live in an very old house too which doesn't help.

Comethefuckonbridget1 · 16/12/2023 10:17

I’m the same OP! I had a few hours yesterday and blitzed downstairs but upstairs is a hellhole and I still need to do skirting boards doors etc

currently sitting with a tea so not much going on haha

I need to sort the bigger stuff first. I need to get rid of some bags of rubbish. I have had a bucket of carpet grippers sitting in my room for over a year. Got a heavy wooden box and a small arm chair in my warm room . Which I Need to move. I have no strength 😔

Ah Hope your feeling better. Your nesting stage might come alone soon. Congrats on pregnancy.

Baby wipes are also amazing at getting rid of hardcore stains. They are almost as good as sugar soap wipes.

Your doing good. I have not even moved my butt. Yes I'm doing my room to I started it last night but got tired my room is the only bedroom that's a mess.

I did downstairs yesterday. Dh was out all day and came home a bit underwhelmed that I had only done three rooms. But I don't think he has ever cleaned a skirting board or hoovered under a sofa or removed houseplants from a kitchen window sill to discover what lies beneath and behind them.

I don't know I think I have a dirt demon in my house. I have spray cleans clothes etc . I will probably do that last to be honest

Well that's me done around 35 minutes of cleaning. Thanks for pushing me to get on with it. I kept putting it off.

When I first got myself into a state . Lots of people on here kept telling a bit at a time do 10 mins 30 mins what ever you can manage. Then rest for a bit do another 10 min etc. It felt hopeless
I'm thinking yeah small chunks in the mean time someone is undoing what I have done
It felt hopeless I felt total shit. But actually they were right. I have managed to get alot done. Before I would do loads burn myself out then go in circles.
