A pre-festivities sharpener of Mornington Crescent?

Unfortunately I was absent for the thrilling climax to the game yesterday, and offer belated congratulations to LlynTegid. It's not often you see that move deployed with such laser-like accuracy.
A last hurrah before we all disperse for our traditional mid-winter break? (I'm for the Canaries this year with the curate and his new-ish special friend, a dear young man).
I'll start us off with a good invigorating Hudson's Cast: Goodge Street.

Maybe these days, but let's just say I have a box of negatives in a bank vault that make me very glad that there was a pre-digital age of photography...

Northolt (descant, obviously)

Continuing out west I move to West Ruislip. I always felt that Central line trains were more baritone than descant, to be honest.

MarkWithaC · 01/10/2024 09:32

I don't entirely disagree, but there is a persuasive subclause in De Rocheforde (1985 update).
Lancaster Gate, with another persuasive De Rocheforde position in mind regarding the leftmost angle.

I'm always in awe of your knowledge of the game, @MarkWithaC . Encyclopaedic.

St James Park, taking into account the sidelines.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 03/10/2024 03:42

With no prevarication

Moorgate

MarkWithaC · 03/10/2024 09:25

Too kind, Seaside. And modest; that last move of yours is deceptive – very very easy to become deep-benched there if you don't know what you're about.

With some pleasure but also trepidation (this an uncommon technique for me) I make an elliptical to Honor Oak Park.

Interesting use of the Elizabeth line and the soon to be Windrush line here, @MarkWithaC .

Moving back north of the river to Highbury and Islington.

DuckonaBike · 04/10/2024 20:37

Very nice, Llyn.

Inverted back step to Seven Sisters

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/10/2024 10:41

Oof. I'd been planning a lateral shank to Seven Sisters - I was very impressed when I saw it played at the Gstaad qualifiers last year - so this is a hasty rethink. I hope I won't regret it.

Morden

LlynTegid · 06/10/2024 10:21

Time for a short move using the walking interchange and tram rules, to Wimbledon.

Seaside1234 · 06/10/2024 22:13

A quick and easy response to that - Gants Hill.

MarkWithaC · 09/10/2024 13:34

Apologies, all, for my silence; I found myself urgently and unexpectedly called to Swansea for a few days, stewarding a regional semifinal (the original appointee was the retired GP but he had a touch of the Jeffrey Bernards).
Maud, I'm envious of your attendance at Gstaad; viewing those qualifiers on a phone video was exciting enough but to be there in person must have been utterly thrilling.
Parsons Green, with the Central line as the activation.

HazelBite · 09/10/2024 20:58

Oh Notting Hill Gate is the only move that can follow Parsons Green, and to avoid going into Nidd, back with a bang there @MarkWithaC

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/10/2024 23:14

Oh, indeed, Mark. One reason I've stayed on the MC circuit quite this long is the opportunities, unrivalled elsewhere, for travel to exotic locations with equally, shall we say, exotic people. Many of whom can be found in

Penge East

MarkWithaC · 10/10/2024 10:31

I've heard about Penge East, but never been. Maybe I should.

Anyway, this is rather exciting – I have a Fleischmann's Half left to play, which, looking at the ratios in those last few moves, leads me to be able to say

MORNINGTON CRESCENT!

HazelBite · 10/10/2024 11:40

Congrats@MarkWithaC I was hoping to get there before you, so now it's up to you to start us all on a new track (so to speak)

MarkWithaC · 10/10/2024 11:44

Thank you!
I'm going to take the liberty of starting a new thread. I'll invite the stalwarts, and hopefully we'll pick up some fresh blood too.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/10/2024 13:25

Oh gosh, Mark! You really are unbeatable. Well done! We must all try harder.

MarkWithaC · 10/10/2024 14:13

Too kind! We all know how one's fortunes can rise and fall.

Oh fantastic, just a privilege to witness that kind of play. Looking forward to the new round!
