A pre-festivities sharpener of Mornington Crescent?

Unfortunately I was absent for the thrilling climax to the game yesterday, and offer belated congratulations to LlynTegid. It's not often you see that move deployed with such laser-like accuracy.
A last hurrah before we all disperse for our traditional mid-winter break? (I'm for the Canaries this year with the curate and his new-ish special friend, a dear young man).
I'll start us off with a good invigorating Hudson's Cast: Goodge Street.

Eek! A few near-misses here have left us teetering on the brink of Nidd. Let’s get onto more solid ground at

Temple

LlynTegid · 10/08/2024 21:19

Aldgate East, to ensure no possibility of being in Nidd.

MarkWithaC · 12/08/2024 16:04

No, for good or ill, Tobermory really did happen.
I think Beresford did play, though; there's a pamphlet on the game of games by a reverend whose name eludes me, somewhat disreputable but considered to have some merit at least, that features an anecdote about her meeting the then Sub-Secretary of the Guernsey branch.. Suffice it to say they did not see eye to eye on the question of ticketing the earlier rounds.

But anyway: Liverpool Street, (bearing in mind that the quarter-ascendant is currently with the Victoria Line).

The only response to that is Kings Cross (using the Metropolitan interchange rules of course)

MarkWithaC · 15/08/2024 12:51

Oh, very good.
I've belatedly realised I almost boxed myself into a corner earlier, but I think I can use a Trimble to Cockfosters to keep myself out of the Side Slide.

OP posts:
LlynTegid · 15/08/2024 14:50

I think a move to Southgate will stop any corners being in play.

I have my suspicions about who the sub-secretary of the Guernsey branch might have been. They have this so-called training game called Rue de Militaire which is a pale attempt at the game of games on a smaller scale. Victor Hugo claims credit for many things during his exile there, but this is not one of them.

Seaside1234 · 15/08/2024 18:28

Quick dash in to play Fairlop, which I think also avoids the corners

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 15/08/2024 20:27

Hmm. There have been some questionable moves recently, but I think it’s safe to proceed to

Stockwell

MarkWithaC · 16/08/2024 09:57

Llyn, I didn't know that about Guernsey (I've never been and sadly must not; something to do with a silly mistake on a tax form quite some time ago).

I'll use that newly created midlink to go to West Ham.

OP posts:
LlynTegid · 16/08/2024 10:40

The midlink is a great help. Allows me to move to Stepney Green.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 16/08/2024 12:48

Onwards!

Turnpike Lane

Seaside1234 · 17/08/2024 08:10

As it's Saturday, I think I can use the optional corridor to Kennington.

MarkWithaC · 18/08/2024 10:26

I always forget about the corridors. Good one!
I'm keeping it simple: a squared-off Harpington to Watford

OP posts:
HazelBite · 19/08/2024 05:34

Oh @MarkWithaC nice move! As we are now in Metroland I now feel that the logical move is Amersham

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 19/08/2024 17:19

And to the home of a dear friend in

Totteridge and Whetstone

LlynTegid · 19/08/2024 17:28

Skilful use of the twice a day curve from Watford I think.

West Finchley

MarkWithaC · 20/08/2024 18:55

Thank you, Hazel!
I'm going to risk North Ealing. It's a non-accrual date, so I think we're all right.

OP posts:
LlynTegid · 23/08/2024 10:06

It has been three days without a move, though nowhere near the stalemate of the 2018 game (was it then, the 11 month game).

So a move to South Ealing.

Seaside1234 · 23/08/2024 15:45

Like buses - wait for ages and several come at once.

Marble Arch

MarkWithaC · 24/08/2024 10:09

Apologies; I've been travelling (spring '25 conference venue inspections; a blank has been dawn so far).
Yes, it was 2018 and the stalemate IIRC was over the inclusion of a horizontal Lappings in a particular string of Hammersmith line manoeuvres. It got quite ugly, so I've heard. I don't think relations between the Featherstonehaughs and the vicarage have ever quite got back on an even keel.

With that in mind, I'm being very careful: Bond Street

OP posts:
HazelBite · 24/08/2024 13:03

I'm also being careful here and cautiously going to Green Park

LlynTegid · 25/08/2024 15:48

Care definitely needed. Gloucester Road.

DuckonaBike · 25/08/2024 16:32

Greetings all. I’ve also been travelling, although for entirely frivolous reasons. I’m feeling daring, and it’s the last Sunday in the month, so I’m taking a Penington’s Angular to East Acton

Seaside1234 · 26/08/2024 22:07

Oooooh! Don't see that often.

Leyton

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/08/2024 14:34

<<sharp intake on breath>>
