Unfortunately I was absent for the thrilling climax to the game yesterday, and offer belated congratulations to LlynTegid. It's not often you see that move deployed with such laser-like accuracy.
A last hurrah before we all disperse for our traditional mid-winter break? (I'm for the Canaries this year with the curate and his new-ish special friend, a dear young man).
I'll start us off with a good invigorating Hudson's Cast: Goodge Street.

I thought we don't mention Tobermory.

Reverse that fourth to Pinner

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 01/08/2024 00:21

Say no more, squire.

Theydon Bois

MarkWithaC · 01/08/2024 09:16

Oh, enough time has elapsed that we can talk about Tobermory! Except when the retired subaltern is present, I suppose.

Canons Park, on an outside participle.

LlynTegid · 02/08/2024 12:22

A shorter move than of late to Queensbury.

MarkWithaC · 05/08/2024 12:38

An oblique fifth to Tooting Bec.

OP posts:
Seaside1234 · 06/08/2024 07:49

Which leads naturally to Holburn

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 06/08/2024 10:39

Hoorah! A rare opportunity to progress to

Euston Square

DuckonaBike · 06/08/2024 15:37

Very graceful, Maud.

Inflected fifth to Lancaster Gate

LlynTegid · 06/08/2024 17:44

Another short move to Marble Arch.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 06/08/2024 18:30

Thank you, DuckOnABike. Have you been reading the MC Journal’s summer supplement? It’s got some great tips for those delicate situations where a misjudged move might plunge one into Nidd.

Leicester Square

Seaside1234 · 06/08/2024 22:37

Ooh, the summer supplement is out? Holiday reading sorted!

Boston Manor

HazelBite · 06/08/2024 23:27

Oh I'm going to be a bit radical here, my brain is very tired so Finchley Road is the only one I can come up with.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 07/08/2024 09:34

Oh yes, Seaside1234, it’s a stimulating read as ever, although I’m not bothering with the knitting pattern.

Goodge Street

Seaside1234 · 07/08/2024 09:40

The mention of knitting reminds me there's an excellent yarn shop at Angel.

DuckonaBike · 07/08/2024 16:20

I’m not much of a knitter myself, but I’m glad to see that this time it is for an outer garment. The last offering was rather controversial.

Chancery Lane

LlynTegid · 07/08/2024 16:22

Use of the Bank/Monument interchange to go to Cannon Street. I am surprised anyone who plays the game of games could find the time to knit.

Seaside1234 · 07/08/2024 18:24

I find it complements my play - the complexity, the rhythm, the pattern recognition. I am of course also armed with pointy sticks, should there be any repetition of the Tobermory incident.

Hackney Wick

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 08/08/2024 02:09

Good grief. The Tobermory Incident. Were you there, Seaside1234? In fact, was that you in the Catwoman costume, accessorised with a jaunty hand-knitted Tam O’shanter? You caused quite a stir, if so.

Tower Hill

DuckonaBike · 08/08/2024 17:30

One does not have to knit in order to be armed with pointy sticks; a capacious handbag will suffice.

Chiswick Park

LlynTegid · 08/08/2024 19:05

There was a nasty handbag incident when the Major was hit in the 1969 tournament after playing North Acton on a Tuesday. Claimed to be an accident but as the event was not recorded, the jury could not decide.

Northfields.

MarkWithaC · 09/08/2024 12:44

I note that Seaside is neither confirming not denying being at Tobermory. Very wise, if you ask me (or the deputy purser).

Duck, that particular knitted offering was quite something, wasn't it? I do remember the minister's eldest daughter embarked on it without having read through the full thing (and of course it was in error printed without a picture, which obviously compounded things).
She made it in lime green, which was... interesting.

Anyway, some excellent play here, as always. I feel slightly hemmed in by the fact of it being a seasonal down-day, but I think the Bredwardine Clause allows me to say
Gunnersbury

HazelBite · 09/08/2024 16:40

Thought it was time I put in an offering, I have been somewhat distracted of late (but one mustn't let life's little difficulties get in the way of a good game)
Now I'm going way back for this move, it hasn't been used in years and I'm using a Wikinger to Arnos Grove

Seaside1234 · 09/08/2024 18:28

I may or may not have been at Tobermory. I couldn't possibly comment.

Lovely Wikinger there @HazelBite , it's a classic for a reason!

Tottenham Court Road

LlynTegid · 10/08/2024 08:29

The Elizabeth line rule gets me to Paddington.

Tobermory I thought was a reference to the late Elizabeth Beresford who I would think could have played the game of games. Mind you, woe betide if you had dropped a sweet wrapper.

Seaside1234 · 10/08/2024 09:27

Well obviously Wimbledon
