Unfortunately I was absent for the thrilling climax to the game yesterday, and offer belated congratulations to LlynTegid. It's not often you see that move deployed with such laser-like accuracy.
A last hurrah before we all disperse for our traditional mid-winter break? (I'm for the Canaries this year with the curate and his new-ish special friend, a dear young man).
I'll start us off with a good invigorating Hudson's Cast: Goodge Street.

Ah, I see what you’re up to there Maud.

Southfields

<pours another nice refreshing glass of cold rosé>

Wembley Park

I like the way you lot play with a G&T doGrin you Grin
Almost makes me want to give up my teetotal lifestyle. But then I think again of that evening at the Morecambe symposium when I was a few sherries down and misunderstood a gesture by the Vice Chancellor (Northern Line)...
I'll stick to the pineapple juice.

Alperton, invoking the Headwind Rule.

MarkWithaC · 24/06/2024 13:41

Oops, I meant a G&T down you.
And no, I haven't; I'm on the Earl Grey.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 24/06/2024 18:05

Earl Grey is often the route to a painful downfall, as the chief flautist discovered to her cost at that otherwise very genteel tournament in Hastings. But, she’s a dear friend, so I shall say no more.

Embankment

LlynTegid · 24/06/2024 19:18

A move to Mansion House, now bereft of the reversing place that was there probably before the game of games was ever played.

Seaside1234 · 25/06/2024 00:13

Sliding in because I couldn't help noticing the doubleback here to Northfields

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/06/2024 00:51

Marvellous, Seaside1234! That move was redolent of the glory days of the game of games. In return, I can offer only

Turnham Green

HazelBite · 25/06/2024 12:48

My brain is very overheated today so I can only come up with Notting Hill Gate in response!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/06/2024 13:17

Yes, the heat is somewhat enervating. I shall be lolling under a tree in

Kew Gardens

MarkWithaC · 26/06/2024 14:25

A flurry of delightful play here. I really can't compete with most of this.

Westferry. Plain and simple.

OP posts:
Seaside1234 · 26/06/2024 17:22

If only heat were a problem in Scotland. But the thought of it triggers a knight's move to White Hart Lane.

DuckonaBike · 26/06/2024 20:11

Nice move, Seaside. Let’s keep the football related theme with a diagonal to Arsenal

LlynTegid · 26/06/2024 20:16

Down the Piccadilly line we go to Kings Cross St Pancras.

Useyourname · 26/06/2024 21:18

Barking

It's altogether too hot. Almost enough to revert to the Pioneer's original dress idea

Seaside1234 · 26/06/2024 21:48

A Lipman lateral to East Ham

MarkWithaC · 27/06/2024 09:17

Excellent, Seaside! You don't see many of those in the latitudinal context. I'm not even sure I'd know how to play that move.

Barons Court, using a move I'm more familiar with, courtesy of the much-missed chair of the county fete.

(He hasn't died, he just had to leave the country suddenly, apparently for sad family reasons. Although I subsequently bumped into his cousin in the bakery and she didn't know of any family problems. She did mutter something about 'coming home to roost' and then put her country wholemeal back on the shelf and left in rather a hurry. Odd.)

OP posts:
LlynTegid · 27/06/2024 18:04

Turnham Green. No one has seen the former chair of the fete near me, thought to be known to the Major.

HazelBite · 27/06/2024 20:53

All I can say to that is Warwick Avenue

DuckonaBike · 28/06/2024 07:37

Fete worse than death, indeed.

I’m going to be cautious with a reverse to Northwick Park

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/06/2024 11:01

Hmm. Last I heard, the Major didn’t have the bus fare to get to Baden Baden, so was taking the waters in

Walthamstow

MarkWithaC · 28/06/2024 11:48

The Major and a small group once made a cycling holiday out of their trip to Baden Baden. I believe he and most of the others got there, but one of his companions didn't make it any further than Antwerp and an MC player famed for her Bakerloo line strategy and her Wallis Simpson-style abilities in another department entirely

A Lucknow Corner to South Acton.

OP posts:
LlynTegid · 29/06/2024 08:51

The incomplete names rule takes us back to Northwick Park. From which I move to Northwood Hills. The kind of place where you can imagine several expert players of the game of games grew up. And like the Major and @MarkWithaC went on cycling holidays.

HazelBite · 29/06/2024 16:38

I think we can move a little further down the line Croxley

DuckonaBike · 29/06/2024 18:36

If other players are hinting at the real life origins of those taking part in the current game, it might be better not to speculate. Some players prefer to remain anonymous, especially since Maud’s Little Black Book (digital version) was compromised in a cyber attack.
