A pre-festivities sharpener of Mornington Crescent?

Unfortunately I was absent for the thrilling climax to the game yesterday, and offer belated congratulations to LlynTegid. It's not often you see that move deployed with such laser-like accuracy.
A last hurrah before we all disperse for our traditional mid-winter break? (I'm for the Canaries this year with the curate and his new-ish special friend, a dear young man).
I'll start us off with a good invigorating Hudson's Cast: Goodge Street.

Some say risky, I say played with a bold flair which does you credit Hazel

However it allows me a longitudinal to Caledonian Road

LlynTegid · 26/05/2024 18:42

I shall move to Arsenal.

HazelBite · 27/05/2024 06:24

Oh @LlynTegid that's a harsh move, some balance is required here Seven Sisters??

MarkWithaC · 28/05/2024 09:54

I was floored by a stomach bug over the weekend, annoying particularly as I was planning to attend the May's End MC tournament in Lyme Regis. A rather interesting player from Malta was playing and I had thought I might learn a bit from her, especially on my weakest area, skip-backs.
But here we are.

Chigwell.

@MarkWithaC - I do hope you are feeling better. You hadn't eaten potted shrimp had you? I only ask as it was served at luncheon at the Lyme Regis tournament you mentioned. I understand there was widespread discomfort and a fractious queue for the facilities.

I'll go for Chesham.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 29/05/2024 00:07

Chesham? A, let us say, idiosyncratic move, but it does open up the possibility of a long upward to

Milton Keynes Central

MarkWithaC · 29/05/2024 09:24

Itisall*, thank you – and no, I avoid potted shrimp since the mix-up with the interior designer and the party caterers at Tonbridge in spring 2019.

I'm going to play Westbourne Park, on an interstitial.

OP posts:
LlynTegid · 29/05/2024 21:07

I think you can get it wrong with shrimp, I stick to jellied or if abroad, non jellied eels. A delicacy in the Netherlands where they have yet to play the game of games though.

Great Portland Street

HazelBite · 30/05/2024 06:05

All this talk of shrimp is making me feel quite queasy,

HazelBite · 30/05/2024 06:07

Apologies had to make a quick dash! I'll make this quick, Warren Street

MarkWithaC · 30/05/2024 09:49

So sorry, Hazel, I'll say no more.

Llyn, that cannot be true that MC hasn't reached the Netherlands. A certain very handsome and very tall gentleman I met at 2018's European Grand Masters in Brussels was Dutch, and very... competent, not to mention enthusiastic not just at MC

But! Let's continue.
An upward shunt to Balham.

LlynTegid · 31/05/2024 17:37

Use of the National Rail rule gets me to Victoria.

Itisallgoingtobeok · 31/05/2024 17:44

As it's the last Friday of the month I think I can make a semi-Ferguson to Waterloo Eqst.

MarkWithaC · 31/05/2024 18:20

Good heavens, Itisall,I hadn't spotted that. Excellent play.
I'm going to say toodleoo for the weekend (I have to do the flowers for the prizegiving at St Miffingtons, and simultaneously somehow keep the curate and the second bassoonist as far apart if possible – anyone who was present at the winter carol concert will know why).
I'll sign off with a Decreasing Venn to Deptford.

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 31/05/2024 19:23

Best to leave Deptford as quickly as possible. If only Christopher Marlowe had thought to do so.

I’ll essay a pendant lateral to

Parsons Green

LlynTegid · 02/06/2024 10:43

As there is this rare thing called a sunny day, I move to Putney Bridge to view the river.

HazelBite · 02/06/2024 19:59

I think a trip out of town is called for so I am going up the Metropolitan to Amersham

MarkWithaC · 03/06/2024 10:28

Well, all went as well as I could have hoped at the weekend, although I have to say the second bassoonist displayed a range and grasp of language that one wouldn't have imagined from her demeanour.

In a snatched quiet moment I was reading up about the 2023 amendment to the Swiss Convention, and I fancy trying out the Addition that it allows:
Gants Hill

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 03/06/2024 10:46

Hmm. Good but not good enough.

Theydon Bois

Useyourname · 03/06/2024 18:13

Masterful, simply masterful ... And yet I am flattered by a development not available to players of the game in previous centuries, and play a wilding shunt to

Nine Elms

DuckonaBike · 03/06/2024 22:36

Very stylish, Useyour. I’ve certainly missed some dazzling play over the last few days.

I’m hoping to keep up the standard with a Mason’s Pass to Stockwell. Maybe not particularly graceful, but I hope it makes up in vigour for what it lacks in finesse.

HazelBite · 04/06/2024 09:26

@DuckonaBike A Masons pass?? That's a bit risky I feel the need to get this back on track! So going forward I'm going g for Wood Green

Itisallgoingtobeok · 04/06/2024 09:39

I'm stuck in a very long meeting which is dulling my thinking skills, so I'm going for a dual return to Oxford Circus.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/06/2024 10:44

That very long meeting wouldn’t be the triennial conference: sub-committee D (rules and infringements), would it? I heard it was happening today, but couldn’t get an Uber - they said that, after the last one was broken up by the police and the fire brigade, the event was put on their no go list.

Now one of my favourite moves. A lateral shunt to

Wembley Central

LlynTegid · 05/06/2024 06:56

The Bakerloo line has been very helpful in the game of games, almost stopped an impasse at the 1967 tournament.

Hatch End
