Unfortunately I was absent for the thrilling climax to the game yesterday, and offer belated congratulations to LlynTegid. It's not often you see that move deployed with such laser-like accuracy.
A last hurrah before we all disperse for our traditional mid-winter break? (I'm for the Canaries this year with the curate and his new-ish special friend, a dear young man).
I'll start us off with a good invigorating Hudson's Cast: Goodge Street.

Weston-Super-Mare! I have found my people. A defining moment, especially for the parley-by-proxy strategy. It's now sadly unfashionable but I feel it retains a certain sophistication all too often lacking in the modern game.

Thus inspired: Chancery Lane

DuckonaBike · 18/05/2024 21:51

It’s good to hear that, Useyourname. Sadly I find the young people nowadays often have rather a casual attitude, and one doesn’t see the game played with the panache that one would like.

I’m trying to avoid lumpings on the Central Line - we all know what that can lead to - so I’m taking us to Tottenham Hale

HazelBite · 19/05/2024 00:30

Lump away Maud!!
Thus I'm going for Bounds Green

HazelBite · 19/05/2024 00:33

Mind you as I'm being a little reckless and as Maud went to Tottenham Hale, I believe Arsenal is on the Central Line!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 19/05/2024 08:58

Rumours of my lumping are greatly exaggerated. It wasn’t I who took you to Tottenham Hale. <<shudders>>

Oxford Circus

Useyourname · 19/05/2024 14:52

I wouldn't play this ordinarily, but on a Sunday during British Summer Time I feel the Abingdon amendment would encourage it, so I doff my cap and offer:

Shepherd's Bush

MarkWithaC · 20/05/2024 11:40

Welcome, Useyourname!
Some excellent play all round over the weekend (I was forced to miss the action as I had to spend most of it at a series of a certain person's wedding dress fitting. Again. (some of you know all about this saga; I shall spare the rest of you the details).

Now.
Arsenal is on the Piccadilly, not Central, but I had a quick look at Barkham's (2014 updated edition) and am confident that, as it was followed by a squared Kumar (thank you, Maud), we can proceed untroubled.

Aldgate (Western Cross Rule).

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/05/2024 11:49

You do over-complicate things, Mark. All that’s needed here is an upward splice to

Wanstead

MarkWithaC · 20/05/2024 13:03

Well, you say that, but those little details can make or break. Just ask the village hall Chair about last summer and the Brixton 'issue'.

Gunnersbury (reverse)

OP posts:
Itisallgoingtobeok · 20/05/2024 15:17

@MarkWithaC - I heard rumour of the "Brixton issue", and thought it an urban myth. It enough to make me clutch at my pearls.

I'll try a double quad to Elm Park.

MarkWithaC · 20/05/2024 15:20

Sadly, it is absolutely true. The Chair's relationship with the Treasurer has never really recovered.

An Urpington's Reach should get us safely to East Acton.

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/05/2024 15:30

Ah, well, I never trouble myself with <<shudders>> local, parochial matters. All my time is devoted to great affairs of state, as many late night tête-a-têtes with the ambassador will bear witness.

Euston Square

MarkWithaC · 20/05/2024 18:52

Come, Maud, you know yourself about your friendship with the dear retired curate and the WI president, among others. and is tête-a-têtes what they call it these days

Turkey Street on a latitudinal.

OP posts:
DuckonaBike · 21/05/2024 19:40

Rather dashing, Mark, if I may say so. I’m going to keep it parochial (despite Maud’s misgivings, parochial affairs can be highly entertaining) with Totteridge & Whetstone.

MarkWithaC · 22/05/2024 13:19

Thank you, Duck. One does one's best to keep up with new thinking and innovations. It's a delicate balance sometimes, though, retaining the spirit of the Game of Games as well.

Speaking of spirit, I'm going to take the opportunity to use a Glissade d'Armagnac and take us to Kilburn Park.

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/05/2024 13:29

Zut alors. Mark’s mention of Armagnac reminds me of that unfortunate business in Nice in ‘76, when monsieur le duc played Montparnasse-Bienvenue on the diagonal. The entente cordiale took a hammering that night, to be sure.

Green Park

Useyourname · 22/05/2024 20:16

For obvious reasons

Westminster

It's one of three stations I have run at speed through, and judging by the impeccable standard of play here I shall involve them all before the game is through

HazelBite · 22/05/2024 21:37

Oh I think that taking a longitudinal Nelson would take us to Queensway

MarkWithaC · 23/05/2024 10:54

Maud, it wasn't just the entente cordiale that took a hammering in Nice, if the tournament under-secretary is to be believed. And yes, Armagnac was involved.

I like that Westminster move. It allows me to invoke Lubich and take us to Kensal Rise.

OP posts:
Useyourname · 23/05/2024 14:57

A tentative Kilburn High Road

DuckonaBike · 24/05/2024 19:42

Hmm. Very crafty, Useyour. I’m going to hit back with a tangential hitch to Dollis Hill

Useyourname · 24/05/2024 20:29

You're too kind, Duck . I'm blushing

Now, bear with me here, but I feel I must to avoid a state of Nim over the bank holiday weekend - alternative schedules may be in place for maintenance, as I'm sure I need not remind such experienced players of the game we love so well:

Pudding Mill Lane

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 24/05/2024 21:08

Deftly done, Use. You’ve blocked off some of my options but, with a prevailing wind, I can still manage a double Henchard to

Canada Water

LlynTegid · 25/05/2024 18:55

Rushing back north of the river to Bond Street

HazelBite · 26/05/2024 07:30

Some interesting moves, I think I will stay north of the river, its risky but I'm going with St John's Wood
