Unfortunately I was absent for the thrilling climax to the game yesterday, and offer belated congratulations to LlynTegid. It's not often you see that move deployed with such laser-like accuracy.
A last hurrah before we all disperse for our traditional mid-winter break? (I'm for the Canaries this year with the curate and his new-ish special friend, a dear young man).
I'll start us off with a good invigorating Hudson's Cast: Goodge Street.

My goodness things have moved on greatly, and the recent moves have given me much food for thought, it may be bold but I'm going with South Harrow

MarkWithaC · 20/03/2024 10:14

I wondered if someone would be brave enough to go for a turned Simpkin! Lovely play, Hazel.

I cannot top that, so will play a modest upwards quint to Chalfont & Latimer.

Let’s shake things up a bit:

Dalston Kingsland

LlynTegid · 20/03/2024 20:00

A sharp reverse to Highbury and Islington.

HazelBite · 21/03/2024 06:49

I can only go to Queens Park but I'm worried that this could be considered a potentially risky move.

MarkWithaC · 21/03/2024 13:35

I think that's actually a pretty elegant move, Hazel. You obviously took into account the Barnes Exception.
It allows me to play that rare beast, a Shank-Foot, to take us to Perivale.

DuckonaBike · 21/03/2024 20:14

I can see what you’re trying to do there Mark, but I’m going to thwart you with a Molotov Variable to Willesden Junction

<smiles serenely while stroking white cat>

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 21/03/2024 21:04

Cunning, DuckonaBike. Exceedingly cunning.

Warren Street

LlynTegid · 21/03/2024 22:04

The Victoria line to my aid to get me to Green Park.

HazelBite · 22/03/2024 06:28

I am considering using the Piccadilly interchange rule so therefore I am going with Covent Garden (tentatively?)

wizzler · 22/03/2024 06:38

Long time since I have played this , hope I can remember all the rules . Il think Seven Sisters should be a safe bet ?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/03/2024 09:33

Hello, wizzler, and welcome. I was going to say don’t be shy but, after a move as audacious as that, I can see you need no such encouragement.

St Paul’s

MarkWithaC · 22/03/2024 11:05

I agree with Maud, wizzler, you're definitely not so green as you're cabbage-looking. Welcome, and I very much look forward to what you bring out next.

In the spirit of the Marchioness, whose birthday is today (and no one who was at her party for the last one will ever forget the act with the cake and the Slinky), I'm going to go quadrilateral and take us to Mill Hill East.

OP posts:
DuckonaBike · 22/03/2024 20:44

There was no need to mention the Marchioness’s party, Mark. Still, one can always drink to forget.

Finchley Road & Frognal

HazelBite · 22/03/2024 23:57

That was a risky move@DuckonaBike it requires much thought into how to respond I think I can only go withQueens Park

AutumnCrow · 23/03/2024 00:06

I'm playing the Tottenham-allied double-feint that was re-instated as fair play under amateur rules on social media to Turnpike Lane*

*controversial, I know

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 23/03/2024 00:14

Wow! Few players of the game of games would be capable of extricating themselves from that Queens Park imbroglio. Well done, AutumnCrow!

Stockwell

LlynTegid · 23/03/2024 07:29

Tooting Bec for the first time in this game I think. There was a suggestion in about 1994 of a new rule that a station could only be played once in a game, until someone at the convention pointed out whether Bank and Monument were one station or two, and the proposal quickly was largely forgotten.

DuckonaBike · 23/03/2024 08:02

I remember the incident, Llyn. Of course it also gave rise to the Edgware Road Question, and things got a bit fraught. It was eventually decided that it was an unnecessary stifling of creativity, which is the last thing we want.

Gloucester Road

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 23/03/2024 08:18

I naturally tend towards the view that a station should be played only once in a game - and have tended to be quite stringent about it in the past - but recognise that it is difficult to adhere strictly to this in games as intense and convoluted as ours tend to be. These days, I am terribly laissez-faire about it all. <<tinkly little laugh>>

Fulham Broadway

LlynTegid · 23/03/2024 10:16

The Edgware Road Question sounds a good title for a story based on the game of games. If only I had the talent to write such a tale, as given the various film and tv companies desire for group dramas I am sure there would be interest.

East Putney.

MarkWithaC · 23/03/2024 12:23

I think The Edgware Road Question was the working title of a lamented Ealing comedy that, for depressingly familiar personal-political reasons, never got made. It is known that one of their producers, Michael Balcon, was a keen MC player and a rather accomplished one.

Chigwell (half-cocked)

Moving before Easter to Newbury Park.

HazelBite · 26/03/2024 16:08

I think I can only go to Hainault I understand that this is a risky move but I'm feeling a bit reckless today!

DuckonaBike · 26/03/2024 22:22

Very dashing, Hazel. It’s good to see a lateral used with so much panache!
